5 Simple Ways to Get Glowing Skin

Wanna know our secret to feeling good in our own skin?!

Here’s a hint… we focus on habits that help us keep our skin healthy and glowing! The best part is that these habits are easy to integrate into your daily life and don’t require too much hard work to keep up! Here are our top five tips for healthy, glowing skin:

1. Wear sunscreen.

Remember how your mom always nagged you to wear sunscreen when you were a kid? Now that you’re all grown up, it’s up to you to remember! I’m a little embarrassed to admit this, but there were definitely a few years in there when I kinda forgot sunscreen was a thing. Since I started focusing more on my health a couple years ago, I got serious about sunscreen again and my skin has never been happier! Besides protecting your skin from sunburns, using sunscreen regularly helps keep your skin smoother and prevents wrinkles.

2. Work out (aka sweat).

Working out is good for our bodies (and our confidence!) in so many ways, but did you know it’s good for our skin, too? When you break a sweat during your workout, your body is getting rid of toxins in your skin. The result? A beautiful post-workout glow!

3. Get enough sleep.

It’s no secret that staying up way too late means you’ll have bags under your eyes the next day. But getting less than the recommended 8 hours of sleep for several nights in a row can have just as bad of an impact on your skin. When you sleep, your skin repairs itself by growing new skin cells to replace the old ones. So catch some extra Zzz’s and your skin will reward you for your efforts! #sweetdreams

4. Drink lots of water.

Our bodies are made up mostly of water and so it seems pretty natural that drinking lots of water every day would be good for us! But drinking enough water is really important if you want glowing skin. And here’s something you might not know, when you drink water, your skin is the last organ in your body to take advantage of that. So keep refilling that water bottle and drink your way to healthy, glowing skin!

5. Drink green smoothies.

Yes, our favorite green drink is so good for our skin, we’re practically jumping for joy every time we fire up the blender! There are lots of reasons to load up the blender with leafy greens as a base to your favorite smoothie, and healthy, glowing skin is a bonus! All the antioxidants that are found in green vegetables help prevent inflammation that causes skin irritations AND phytochemicals protect against wrinkles. Sounds like a win-win to me!

These 5 tips will help you get that extra skin glow, yet may not solve every skin problem under the sun. If you’re suffering from acne, it can be a deeper issue (hormonal imbalance, food sensitivities, face lotion, face wash, makeup, etc). It’s always a good idea to talk with a dermatologist if you’re still struggling with acne or other skin problem. We’re no skin experts (green smoothie lovers…yes!), but we pinky promise that these 5 tips will help you feel and look a whole lot healthier. To glowing skin and green smoothies!

Thank you for all your rawkstar advise / support!
I just purchased beets and need to know if I should cook them first and peel? Or how should I prep them for blender? And do you have any smoothie recipe with beets?

    • SGS Rawkstar 4.1.2015 at 6:42 pm #

      Hi Joyce,

When prepping beets for blending…scrub each beet with a veggie brush, be sure to trim off the leafy greens and reserve for another time. We love to either roast or steam our beets before blending.

Here is some additional information on preparing beets, their health benefits, + one of our favorite recipes!!

      Hi Kelly,

At the moment we do not have a recipe for organic sunscreen, but I’ll pass your request onto our staff. There are plenty of organic sunscreen options available for purchase at stores like Whole Foods and Target.
