The Food Babe Way Book Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Can I tell you something?
I still take notes with pen and paper, and doodle all over them. I keep track of events and to-do’s in a physical planner. I subscribe to 8 wonderful print magazines and look forward to reading every single page, beginning with the last page first. And I love ending my night getting all cozied up with a good book in my hands.
The past week, I’ve been cozying up with The Food Babe Way. This is a book after my own heart (I am passionate about knowing what’s in our food).

Fun fact: Vani’s a green smoothie rawkstar, just like us. But that’s not all— this amazing woman is transforming the food industry from the inside out— Subway, Kellogs, Starbucks, Chick Fil A, and many more have invested in better ingredients in their foods thanks to Vani). We all get to benefit from her food activist work.

My #1 struggle would be time. I’m always crunched for it and it’s always really tempting to stop by the nearest fast food place for something quick.

Having the time between work , hubby and children to actually
take time to eat heathly, aways on the run.

BLOOD SUGAR! I love adding banana and mango in my smoothies and I’m somewhat hesitant to replacing those yummy fruits with low-sugared options. #SmoothieRookie
I’m also obsessed in finding the optimum combination of ingredients to gain the maximum benefits from each.

Think I’d have to say the #1 problem I have with healthy eating is my kids. They get tired hungry and cranky and want to eat Now. I tend to eat what they do most of the time.

    I like cookies & I don’t have a plan. I just got a Vit-a-mix & I have had a smoothie everyday since it arrived and have lost 5lbs too!

My biggest issue is planning ahead. When I am doing the Fresh Start 21 Cleanse, I do very well. I enjoy it and feel great. When I’m not following the plan, I either grab quick processed foods or just don’t eat at all. I love my daily green smoothies though!!

My biggest obstacle or struggle is getting my family on board.

Prep! Living alone, I was uninterested in cooking for one person and was living on a lot of instant things – cheese and crackers, pop in the oven stuff, etc. I’m trying to stop those habits, but need to make a conscious effort to remind myself to do my prep, otherwise it’s bedtime and I don’t have anything done!

Time. We are always on the run. Need something that I can make the night before and is still good in the morning.

The #1 struggle I have with eating healthy is learning how to tell if produce is fresh. I get so worried I am choosing bad produce.

My biggest problem is being unprepared when life gets chaotic – if I don’t plan ahead or have some pre-prepped healthy go-to items, I am at risk of making unhealthy choices.

Time to plan and prepare the week’s meals (outside of smoothies) is my number one struggle. Some weeks are great, others are a real challenge to having fast & healthy alternatives.

I have a huge sweet tooth and eat too many processed foods!! Also, its freezing here in the winter mornings so the thought of having a shake/smoothie first thing is not desirable!

Emotionally triggered eating – and too much sugar or sweet things.

Getting my family to eat healthy. Too often I make “their” food, and then my own healthy food. Sometimes I give up and eat their food too.

    February 12th, 2015 at 12:14 pm

The hardest thing for me is that my work schedule varies so much and many times I am not in an place where I can eat at a normal “dinner” time. I DJ and play music at night so by the time I am finishing it will be super late and I am not going to cook then. When I don’t have shows I do pretty well on the healthy eating, but any other time I eat junk or nothing at all.

Fixing for my family too. Kids and husband. So I’ve to prep for myself and for them since they aren’t very open to trying new things.

My biggest struggle is time and keeping a balanced meal. When I’m running low on time and I’ve already bought the food, I’ll continue to eat it, but in the more simplified form. So it looks like I’m eating all the fruits and veggies before they go bad and I might leave the quinoa until the end of the week if not the following week because it’ll keep longer. With my kids, when they’re too picky I do opt for something frozen and in a box that I know they will will, even if it’s not the best like fish sticks.
