The Food Babe Way Book Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Can I tell you something?
I still take notes with pen and paper, and doodle all over them. I keep track of events and to-do’s in a physical planner. I subscribe to 8 wonderful print magazines and look forward to reading every single page, beginning with the last page first. And I love ending my night getting all cozied up with a good book in my hands.
The past week, I’ve been cozying up with The Food Babe Way. This is a book after my own heart (I am passionate about knowing what’s in our food).

Fun fact: Vani’s a green smoothie rawkstar, just like us. But that’s not all— this amazing woman is transforming the food industry from the inside out— Subway, Kellogs, Starbucks, Chick Fil A, and many more have invested in better ingredients in their foods thanks to Vani). We all get to benefit from her food activist work.

    My greatest struggle with healthy eating is the fact that I work on boat’s for a living! I am able to eat healthy when I’m home, but when I’m stuck on the boat for 1-2 months, I’m stuck eating whatever is available (usually lots of carbs and fatty foods). This also tends to lead to snacking. It takes me a while after coming home to get back into healthy eating habits.

    Sitting on my bottom all day at my desk. When you have a desk job, it is difficult to get up and move! And then while you are sitting there, staring at a screen, munchies creep in and you constantly snack. Couple that with all the cookies in the break room and I added 20 pounds easily! Smoothies have helped and my commitment to get up and move…but it’s not easy.

    My biggest struggle must be not get lazy about preparing my own food. In today’s world it is so easy to just drive up to a window and get fastfood. Starbucks doesn’t make it easy either. When I smell the coffee from outside the store, it takes lots of will power not to walk in there.

    There are so many contradicting statements out there and it’s hard to know which are right and which are wrong!

    I love food. Period! Dark chocolate is my weakness. Now, I realize that dark chocolate is considered healthy. In small doses! The problem is I can’t find the off switch when it comes to smooth, melt-in-your-mouth, comforting dark chocolate anything. In fact, I made a dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate icing several months ago and before I knew it I had scraped off and eaten the top layer of almost the entire cake. Do you by any chance have a smoothie recipe that includes dark chocolate? :/

    My biggest struggle is really time to shop and time to prep/cook the healthier foods. Working full-time+ with two school aged kids—> there isn’t many pockets of time in any day. Secondary struggle is that outside of produce, the grocery budget has doubled with some of the healthier, organic ingredients needed (i.e. almond flour, organic olive oil, etc.). I will keep on trying to perfect this! Food Babe is totally AWESOME and I’m loyal to her revolution!

    I make great choices at the store most of the time – but I have a hard time having self-control when there is unhealthy food around that I did not buy – like at a party or at work or food that my husband buys.

    My number one struggle is probably that I am constantly craving baked goods – I’m working on creating some much healthier versions of my favorite recipes, though!

    My #1 struggle is the fact that I just love sugar too much. 🙂 Also tortilla chips. I could eat chips and salsa for every meal.

    Sticking with it!!! I was completely addicted to green smoothies, then fell off the wagon and started doing everything but the greens. Why? I have no idea. I started Paleo, loved it, thought it was the second coming but again, fell off the wagon and ate something with a wrapper on it. Help me stick to what I know is right!!

    Lunchtimes are sometimes a problem, being a builder it is hard to find healthy,wholesome and fresh food in the areas I work in.
    I try to but sometimes dont manage to make up my own stuff at home. So when on site or on the road finding a decent lunch that does not consist of pre-packaged sandwiches or pasta is a challenge!!

    I recently moved cities and am always out and about to meet people and spend time with new friends. This always involves drinking, snacking, more drinking and eating!!! It is difficult to say no in a group environment, especially around people I don’t know very well yet.
