The Food Babe Way Book Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Can I tell you something?
I still take notes with pen and paper, and doodle all over them. I keep track of events and to-do’s in a physical planner. I subscribe to 8 wonderful print magazines and look forward to reading every single page, beginning with the last page first. And I love ending my night getting all cozied up with a good book in my hands.
The past week, I’ve been cozying up with The Food Babe Way. This is a book after my own heart (I am passionate about knowing what’s in our food).

Fun fact: Vani’s a green smoothie rawkstar, just like us. But that’s not all— this amazing woman is transforming the food industry from the inside out— Subway, Kellogs, Starbucks, Chick Fil A, and many more have invested in better ingredients in their foods thanks to Vani). We all get to benefit from her food activist work.

The biggest struggle is always having to go shopping for the freshest ingredients, then if they don’t get used up, having to throw out good food; I don’t like being wasteful.

My #1 struggle is staying focused and staying motivated.

Not going to lie when I tell you I absolutely HATE going to the grocery store but my one saving grace is the fact I can walk in, head straight to the produce section, followed by a quick jaunt to the freezer section, with a preprinted shopping list for a week’s worth of smoothies and I’m good to go. I’m in & out in 15 minuets!! I love that!

The green smoothies are delicious and because they make two, I share with my honey as we’re rushing out the door for work. The best way to start my day at the office is a thank you text from my honey telling me how delicious the smoothie was that morning. 🙂

I love eating healthy, my problem is that I still love those potato chips, fries, cakes, pies and cookies! Even bigger than that is my late-night snacking. I try to eat fruit or a bowl of cereal or yogurt/granola instead, but they don’t always do the trick. I realize that having a small bag of chips is OK on occasion, but I always manage to feel guilty anyway.

I struggle with sticking to it when friends come around. I am a good cook and always want to prepare something yummy for them. Whether it be a cake or fine meal. Cooking is one way to show your love and I tend to be extravagant when they are here. Once falling off the wagon, i find it harder to recover.

My struggle is sugar. We eat very healthy, but I need to really detox my body to stop the sugar cravings. The problem is, being a busy mom, being motivated to just go for it!

After three months 85% vegan (95%vegetarian) I still love meat, poultry, fish, and eggs. And, let’s not forget dairy. Sigh. Plant based foods are great, but I love the rest, too.

The hardest thing I find is keeping the cravings for unhealthy food away! While I enjoy a good salad or veggies it’s so hard to not consume the naughty treats over the good! Arghhhh help me!

Being consistent and staying on track. When work etc gets hectic healthy eating are usually what gets left behind.

With a lifetime of bad eating habits, I struggle to stay on track & lock in good habits.

My number one struggle is the preparation time to have breakfast lunch and dinner be healthy meals

  14. Sugary sweet

    February 12th, 2015 at 1:39 pm

My biggest struggle is my sweet tooth. I have grown up having dessert after a meal. Now, even though I try to take steps to be healthy, I still crave a sugary treat in order to feel satisfied. I realize this is the addictive effect of sugar. I need to get better at maybe replacing my sweet tooth with a sweet fruit or something more healthy after meals!

Time. I find it difficult to eat in a healthy manner when I’m exhausted after work. Rushing home to my toddler often leaves me picking up fast food, for simple convenience sake.

I struggle from the massive amount of information and diets that are available each claiming they have “the” answer. Also I struggle trying to eat healthy without raising blood sugar.

I LOVE sweets and chips. I’m finding some organic chips that include flax seeds, made with sweet potatoes and eating less sugar, but it’s a struggle to drop both of those from my diet completely.

The number one problem I have is convenience. Where I live (small town) people don’t know what organic means, they still live off cheap food such as bread, fries and coke. I’m sure they even think Acai is some type of disease! Thank god we just got coconut water. I go to the Farmers markets on a Sunday and try to get as much local food as possible but it makes it hard when I eat out with friends or run out of food at home.

My biggest struggle is preparing and planning meals that are healthy for the whole family. I tend to get to 5 oclock and be like ‘what am I cooking for dinner?!’. Then it tends to be not as good as it should be..
