PLANT BASED MEAL PLANNER

The Food Babe Way Book Giveaway! {CLOSED}

Can I tell you something?
I still take notes with pen and paper, and doodle all over them. I keep track of events and to-do’s in a physical planner. I subscribe to 8 wonderful print magazines and look forward to reading every single page, beginning with the last page first. And I love ending my night getting all cozied up with a good book in my hands.
j
The past week, I’ve been cozying up with The Food Babe Way. This is a book after my own heart (I am passionate about knowing what’s in our food).

Fun fact: Vani’s a green smoothie rawkstar, just like us. But that’s not all— this amazing woman is transforming the food industry from the inside out— Subway, Kellogs, Starbucks, Chick Fil A, and many more have invested in better ingredients in their foods thanks to Vani). We all get to benefit from her food activist work.

    It’s seems to be a major obstacle to convince my boyfriend from the plan. He just loves his processed food.

    Ice cream. I love ice cream. Since my conversion to clean healthy food and juicing, I miss ice cream the most. Hard to find the time to make it myself and I obviously cannot eat “le crap” (excuse my French) I used to eat with abandon. Somehow an orange smoothy just isn’t the same.

    I’m a full time student, casual worker and trying to fit in extra activities on the side. I find it hard to eat healthy because I’m always leaving at 5am and never getting home till 6pm.

    Having a (wonderful & amazing) husband that wants bread and pasta every other night for dinner & doesn’t (seriously) support me in my endeavors. It makes it hard to make 2 separate meals three times a day, every day.

    The no.1 struggle I have is finding a good range of quality organic fruits & veg . The supermarkets in my area have very limited choice & markets only stock basics, I like to try different things to keep me motivated x

    My greatest struggle with healthy eating is the fact that I work on boat’s for a living! I am able to eat healthy when I’m home, but when I’m stuck on the boat for 1-2 months, I’m stuck eating whatever is available (usually lots of carbs and fatty foods). This also tends to lead to snacking. It takes me a while after coming home to get back into healthy eating habits.

    Sitting on my bottom all day at my desk. When you have a desk job, it is difficult to get up and move! And then while you are sitting there, staring at a screen, munchies creep in and you constantly snack. Couple that with all the cookies in the break room and I added 20 pounds easily! Smoothies have helped and my commitment to get up and move…but it’s not easy.

    My biggest struggle must be not get lazy about preparing my own food. In today’s world it is so easy to just drive up to a window and get fastfood. Starbucks doesn’t make it easy either. When I smell the coffee from outside the store, it takes lots of will power not to walk in there.

    There are so many contradicting statements out there and it’s hard to know which are right and which are wrong!

    I love food. Period! Dark chocolate is my weakness. Now, I realize that dark chocolate is considered healthy. In small doses! The problem is I can’t find the off switch when it comes to smooth, melt-in-your-mouth, comforting dark chocolate anything. In fact, I made a dark chocolate cake with dark chocolate icing several months ago and before I knew it I had scraped off and eaten the top layer of almost the entire cake. Do you by any chance have a smoothie recipe that includes dark chocolate? :/
