Grape smoothies are a staple at my house, whenever the grapes don’t get eaten right after bringing them home! This green grape smoothie recipe is brightly delicious, and loved by young and old smoothie drinkers alike. So read on, or skip ahead to start blending right away (no judgement!).
Green smoothies vs green juice
When it comes to drinking your greens, there are two general ways to do it. Let’s break it down, so to explain why I like blending leafy green smoothies like this grape smoothie, rather than juicing.
Juicing fruits + veggies
Juicing greens gives you a concentrated small amount of liquid. The nutrients can be easily absorbed into your blood stream and benefit your body. Juicing doesn’t contain fiber, which helps your digestive system work properly, curb blood sugar spikes and keeps you full longer.
I definitely lean towards #teamsmoothie, yet I do think juicing has its benefits. I talk more about this on my podcast interview with Katie Wells from Wellness Mama.
Blending green smoothies
Blending your greens creates a larger amount of liquid than juicing. It’s thicker due to the fiber retained in the greens. This slows down the speed at which the sugars and nutrients enter your body, as well as helps you stay full longer. Lots of fruit and veggies also have nutritional value in the skin, which can get lost in juicing (like the pith in the orange of this grape smoothie). Finally, juicing takes a LOT more produce than blending, which makes it more expensive.
How to make an affordable grape smoothie (or any smoothie)
This green grape smoothie recipe is a hit in our house. We love how easy it is to find the ingredients for this smoothie at the local grocery store. And they’re also affordable! That’s the key to making this a healthy habit for life— use ingredients you can always find and always afford. It’s definitely okay to skip all the fancy potions and powders that people recommend you add to your smoothie. For this amazing recipe, all you need is:
- baby spinach (I prefer organic because it’s on the EWG’s dirty dozen list)
- green grapes (be sure to check for seeds before blending)
- pineapple (I use frozen pineapple to chill the smoothie and save me time chopping it up)
- oranges (naval oranges are so flavorful and juicy!)

I really like the orange and pineapple together. I swapped out strawberries for the grapes and it was amazing- store still didn’t have good grapes.
★★★★★
I made this recipe with berry fruit tea instead of water. It doesn’t have any actual tea, but fruits and flowers in it. Wanted to give it a try. I also used a kiwi since I didn’t have any grapes. I am surprised no recipes in this challenge called for kiwis. It was not as sweet as I thought it would be, but must have been from the tea. It was refreshing and a little thinner than other smoothies I’ve made, but still a good taste.
★★★★
Good smoothie, but if not a fan of green grapes, suggest swapping for something else. Refreshing smoothie with a nice green color.
★★★
Yummm that’s good!:)
★★★★★
I swapped out a clementine for the orange and my blender can‘t handle it (far from smooth). The taste was good, the texture not so much.
★★★★
Enjoyed it.
★★★★★
Another great smoothie on Day 10, but Day 7 was my favorite. They have all been so good and filling. I feel great and have more energy since doing the smoothie every day. I’m planning to continue, too. They are easy to fix and so healthy. Thank you all so much for the help and encouragement.
Thank you for everything. I will now be having a green smoothie every morning thanks to you.
SO, SO good! Actually one of our favorites. Great recipes Jen!
★★★★★
I’m not a fan of grapes in my smoothies, so I’m giving this a 3 as suggested but when I substituted mango for grape it went up to a 5. Super refreshing. Yum.

Iforgot to rate Day 10 Citrys Crush!! Definitely a 5 but w/o grapes. And subbed in mango for pineapple. Just crisp and good.
★★★★★
Would have been better if I had had spinach… had to use Kale and definitely could taste it but without that I think it would have been amazing
★★★★★
Don’t use grapes at all, so subbed cherries and no pineapple but used mango instead. I love oranges in these smoothies and will use more often. Light and tasty. Fun 10 day smoothue challenge! Sad it’s over!!
Light, refreshing and delicious! Tasted first as is, then boosted with cilantro and coconut milk smoothie cubes.
★★★★★
I subbed cucumber for the grapes and it was really good!
★★★★★
In the smoothie challenge, this smoothie is called “Citrus Crush.” Tasting it, I was thinking it doesn’t have nearly enough citrus flavor to be called “Citrus Crush,” and thinking about how to up the citrus flavor next time. However, I do like it. It is good-tasting, and I appreciate that it’s made with ingredients I always have in my fridge.
★★★★
Was surprised at how good this was…out of my norm…loved it! thanks fellow RAWKSTAR #simplegreensmoothies
★★★★★
This one I changed a bit, no grapes so I used frozen mango. It was still delicious. I will try it with grapes eventually!
★★★★★
I wanted to like this one so bad, but I just don’t like the grapes in my smoothie. Maybe next time I’ll try kiwi instead!

I loved the balance of flavor and sweetness in this smoothie. I did use coconut water in place of plain water. Great tropical feel to this one. Happy Rawkstar here!
★★★★★
The best for last! This smoothie had the right amount of sweetness and consistency to make it a winner in my book. I added some protein for extra nutrition but didn’t really change anything except a whole mandarin orange. They are much smaller than regular oranges.
★★★★★
Refreshing and yummy!
★★★★★
Day 10 Green grape smoothie – so good. I didn’t have an orange so used a bit of fresh oj it was good. I also added kale to this one, used almond milk and meal powder as this is a meal replacement. Completely surprised at how good this really turned out,
★★★★★
I subbed strawberries for grapes today and I absolutely loved this smoothie!

★★★★★
The kids loved this one…along with the parents!
★★★★★
This was yummy – I swapped blueberries for the grapes and added a tumeric smoothie cube!
★★★★★
Why green grapes? Red grapes are the only kind I buy. Am I missing something? I have been freezing my red grapes and eat instead of candy (mostly). The are much sweeter tasting frozen also. Wanted to stay on challenge but found some recipes deal breakers..
I subbed water for coconut water and it was very refreshing. Love the citrus profile in this one!
★★★★★
Just what I needed for extra vitamin C on a cold, snowy day.

★★★★★
I’m an at home Mom, sort of, my 2 boys are now in College, so for most of the year they are away. My husband goes to work and I’m here by myself. When I’m not cooking for the family, breakfast is kind of boring. Then I came across this challenge, I said why not, so off I went. Let me tell you I love it. I’m getting my spinach and sometime carrot plus my fruits for the day. Through everything into my Vitamix blender and done. I drink my smoothie while reading my emails. I’m ready to tackle the rest of my day. Great Job. Keep up the good work.
★★★★★
Yum!! very light tasting!
★★★★★
I omitted the grapes still liked the citrusy burst of flavour. Will use another kiwi next time as a replacement.
★★★★★
Was great, delicious and refreshing, loved the citrus nature of it, thanks
The 10 days were great! Thanks
★★★★
Good. Not as creamy, maybe needs an avocado? Or freeze the grapes next time? I used the anti inflammatory boosters and less pineapple. Very good. Just a hint of ginger/turmeric.
★★★★

Day 10, Citrus Crush!
I like this one, it’s tastes like it’s full of vitamin C, I prepped this the night before, but I much prefer to use frozen fruits to make it nice and cold, or add ice cubes to the mix.
★★★★★
Great and refreshing!!
★★★★★
Added avocado for some “creaminess”.
★★★★★
My new fave!
★★★★★
Love this smoothie
★★★★★
As I sit here drinking my Citrus Crush smoothie, I am thinking about how much I enjoy the smoothies with the grapes and oranges (now that I remember to remove the peel), to me they are very refreshing and clean tasting. Definitely a 5 star for me. I did not get to make my Green Veggie bowl yet so it is going to be today for supper, it sounds really good, I cannot wait.”
★★★★★
I had to do some substitutions based on what I had in the house. No grapes, so we used blueberries and strawberries. I added chia and tofu to make it a meal replacement and added vitamin c cubes for a boost. Delicious, refreshing, and filling. Yummy!

A very refreshing Smoothie
★★★★
DEFINITELY my favorite! I’m starting over at day 1 and doing it again just for the HEATH of it!
★★★★★
One of my very favorites! The citrusy oranges and fresh pineapple make me think of summer. I like to freeze the grapes so I get a slushy smoothie that reminds me of slushees in the summer as a kid mmmm. So good
★★★★★
Very fresh and yummy. Will add this to my rotation for sure.
★★★★
Tropical goodness.
I threw in half an avocado because I love how creamy it makes smoothies.
I subbed out water and used half coconut water and half Aloe Vera Juice.
And added in some MCT oil.
★★★★★
Fantastic! I boosted it with a Vitamin C Smoothie Cube so I really got the orange taste Rawking strong in this one. One of my favorites. I froze everything but the orange so it is just at the right amount of chill for me and I did not have to add any additional liquids. If I like coconut water, I could see this turning into a Tropical Paradise.
★★★★★
I used coconut water instead of plain water and this smoothie is wonderful
★★★★★
YUMMMMazing! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS ONE! I boosted with Arugala, too 😉
★★★★★
So refreshing! Perfect blend of greens and fruit. I used coconut water for liquid for extra hydration. Great smoothie to start the day or would be a welcome afternoon energy boost.
★★★★★
This is my favorite! Way to go SGS you ended the 10 day challenge with the perfect orangey flavor. Thank you for helping me reset my diet! 😉
★★★★★
Love this one! I’ve never really used grapes in smoothies before. You’d figure it would be one of the first things to use considering many commercial juices have grape as a base and they are bountiful but, nope. I think I’ll make it a regular in my smoothies.
★★★★★
I really like this one. It is nice and refreshing.
★★★★★
I love the smoothies with water and grapes! The extra citrus and tropical flavor made this one perfect.
★★★★★
I really enjoyed Day 2 because I prefer berries in my smoothie. Day 3 was just as good as I occasionally like a sweeter smoothie.
