A few years ago, I looked into taking a food sensitivity test and the naturopath told me it would be $2000. I say “ummmm….no thanks!” and never went back. I was curious to know how the foods I ate were affecting my body. Yet I wasn’t willing to spend that much money into knowing for sure. So I’ve used elimination diets like our Thrive Summer Reset to help me pin point my sensitivities and feel amazing, yet always wondered exactly what ingredients were causing my issues (exhaustion, bloating, gurgle-y tummy).
I started to actually pay attention to the foods I put into my body in 2011. This was right around the time I started drinking a daily green smoothie and it rawked my world! I’ve had a sense that certain foods were doing more harm than good, and have been curious to take a food sensitivity test and see for sure.
Confession: Some nights, my husband and I will watch an episode of Parks and Rec while enjoying a bowl of ice cream. And not just any ice cream— Moose Tracks Ice Cream. Full dairy, full chocolate, full corn syrup, full heaven in a bowl you wish was healthy (but it’s not) sorta ice cream. Without fail, my stomach retaliates by gurgling and cramping up all night long. (And yes I still say yes the next time he asked if I want some 🙂 I’ve had a sense my body didn’t like dairy, yet never was tested for it until last month when I took the Everlywell Food Sensitivity Test. Yep— this is the same company that’s been crushing it on Shark Tank! So cool!!!!
What I love about this test is that it’s just $199 to take and you can do it at home. Sure, I know that can still seem like a lot of money, BUT when you compare it to the $2000 test at the doctors office, it’s a steal!
My experience with the Everlywell Food Sensitivity Test
I wanted to share my experience taking this test. Some of the results I had expected (and others I did not at all). All in all, I took the test in under 10 minutes and got the results in about a week and never had to leave my house (or get out of my comfy yoga pants) to do it.
Watch to see what happens when I took the test…
How to decide if a food sensitivity test is worth it…
I know this isn’t any easy decision to make when it comes to spending money like this. It was a whole lot easier for me when it was just a $199 investment rather than $2000. Feel like something may be off in your body? Common food sensitivity symptoms are:
- you’re more tired than you should be
- your stomach is a mess (diarrhea, cramps, constipated)
- you’re intermittently congested (and not sure why)
Certain foods may be causing these symptoms. A food sensitivity test can help you identify the foods that are making you feel lousy. It can also guide you as you embrace (or create!) your own food elimination diet. If your results are like mine, doing one of our seasonal resets could go a long way into feeling great!
