Energy-Packed Pre-Workout Green Smoothie

It’s important to fuel your body before exercising, especially if you’re planning an intense workout. Burning calories is definitely a pro when it comes to working out, but you also want to make sure you’re giving your body enough fuel to make it through your workout so your muscles can handle what you throw at them. Loading up on hydrating, carb-rich fruits and veggies pre-workout gives you what you need without leaving you feeling too weighed down. A smoothie is the perfect light meal – and bonus – it’s a great to-go meal too.

This nutrition-packed pre-workout smoothie contains strawberries and banana to provide the body with energy-rich carbs that provide your body with ready energy. Beets contain nitrates which the body converts to nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels and brings more oxygen-rich blood to your muscles while working out. Ingredients

  • 2 cups spinach (fresh)
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups strawberries (frozen)
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup raw or cooked beet (diced)
  • 4 tablespoons The Natural Citizen Organic Energy Powder

Instructions

  1. Blend spinach and water until smooth.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and blend again until smooth.

    Just trying it this morning before my workout and it is pretty delicious! How long before a workout would you all recommend it be consumed? I certainly want to get max benefits! Thanks in advance and keep up the good work with these awesome recipes!
