Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Also known affectionately as “Pink Flamango,” this Strawberry Mango Smoothie was created by my very first SGS rawkstar team member, Dan Mottayaw.

That was 6 years ago, and now he’s got a little baby girl who will be gulping this smoothie down in a few more months, I’m sure! I mean, what’s not to love? Strawberries + mango is a fabulous combination.

Strawberries Have More Vitamin C Than Oranges

It’s true! Strawberries knock it out of the park in the vitamin C department. A diet rich in vitamin C will help keep your immune system in tip-top shape.

Strawberries are also low in sugar and high in fiber making them a great smoothie addition for anyone who is watching their blood sugar levels. The fiber helps avoid a blood sugar rush and keep your levels more stable.

Mango: The Best Tropical Fruit

Okay, I know that statement is very subjective, but I really, really LOVE mangoes. I could eat them all day long and never tire of them.

Mango is like the tropical version of a peach. Juicy, sweet, chock full of vitamin A, fiber, and best eaten standing over the sink with juice dripping down your chin. No shame here! Add some mango to your smoothie and it’s instantly got an island vibe going on. I like to buy frozen mango in bulk from Trader Joes or Costco because it’s almost always cheaper than my local grocery store.

The Pink Flamingo -though refreshing- is not my favorite. But, used it as a meal replacement a few hours ago, adding plant based protein powder and water after I drank the first 5oz… and took it on the go commuting to school. Thank you for the recipe 🙂 *My little one snubbed his nose at it (but, he loved the first two (beginner smoothie and yesterday’s)!

  2. Amy W. says:

Super thick. Just ok. I’m guessing I used too many whole frozen strawberries. I had to add a splash of water to get it to a drinkable consistency. To me the almond milk is meh.

  3. Marie Davino says:

Frozen strawberries took a little longer to blend, and I thought it might be too cold because it is chilly outside! But is turned out perfect and yummy. Love the strawberry flavor, Day two yahoo!! 🙂

  4. Laura says:

This smoothie was alright in taste. It wasn’t overly sweet, which was nice. Overall, this smoothie was tasty and easy to make.

  5. Melissa says:

Great smoothie! I added a boost of hemp protein powder too. I’m amazed at how much energy I have!

  6. Precious says:

Who knew mangos would be the key to delicious smoothies w/o a banana. This is a definite winner in my book!

  7. Valerie says:

At first taste it wasnt my favorite but it kind of grew on me the more I drank it

  8. Mary D says:

Day2 Smoothie – This one is alright. Not very sweet, which is ok for me, but I would probably like it better with just water rather than the almond milk. Took this one on the go with me to work.

  9. Deborah Jacobs says:

Not very sweet. Not my favorite. I had frozen fruit, I wonder if I could have controlled the sweetness with fresh perhaps overripe fruit.

  10. Frances says:

I forgot to rate it. Oh and it’s 11:04 am here.

  11. Frances says:

I loved the smoothie. Mine wasn’t pink at all. Ok it had pink dots in it. I used whole almonds soaked overnight instead of almond milk.

  12. Shelley says:

I really liked the taste of the pink flamingo. Though the smoothie was not pink. Without the spinach it would be. I added in fresh mint and chia seeds. It was really fresh tasting with the mint.

  13. Catherine says:

    Easy to make and delicious

  14. Sheila says:

Yum!!!!! I had this smoothie for new year breakfast and it was fantastic! Feeling really good !!! It was very tasty and I added hemp and chia seeds to it~ Now it is time for some yoga!

  15. Cathleen Hall says:

Not as good as the first one. Might need that banana. Im going to drink it.

    • SGS Rawkstar Jess says:

That’s too bad you didn’t like it as much but that’s the beauty in trying different recipes, isn’t it?! You get to try new things and find out what you love and what you don’t. And, adding a banana to a smoothie you don’t really love the taste of is a great move and can turn a #smoothiefail into a save! 🙂
