Mango orange smoothie ingredients

This smoothie is a tropical oasis of flavor + nutrition. It’s got over 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, as well as a great boost of fiber. Make sure to leave as much of the white pithe of the orange as you can when peeling… that’s where the fiber and many nutrients are located in an orange.

Lower sugar options

If the natural sugar in this smoothie is a little high for you, then I’ve got some great swap options. Swap out 1/2 banana for 1/4 avocado. Avocado helps keep the smoothie creamy + add in healthy fat, while lowering the sugar level. Peaches are a great swap for the mango in this mango orange smoothie, since they have a lower glycemic index (sugar level). Green smoothies are easily customized to your liking, so don’t be afraid to make some swaps or test new ingredients to get the perfect combo for your tastebuds + nutritional needs.

Coconut water is nature’s gatorade

Mango orange smoothie liquid swaps

If coconut water just isn’t your thing, or you don’t have any on hand, then no worries! Here’s what I recommend as a liquid base for this mango orange smoothie:

  • Green tea
  • Water
  • Coconut milk in the refrigerated carton (not canned… it would be too thick for this recipe!)

No matter which base you choose, this smoothie will still give you amazing health benefits, as well as a great energy boost!

  1. Kimberly Wade says:

I doubled the spinach and replaced half the mango with anti-inflammation smoothie cubes. I’m not sure how this changed the flavor but it was delish.

  2. Titilola Palmer says:

Yum! I’m really loving these smoothie recipes. This one was so good. I really enjoyed this flavor combination. I was not sure that I would like this one but with the addition of the plant based vanilla protein powder the flavor for me was just right. Another one that I will make again.

  3. Kathy Overstreet says:

Left out the orange (tummy is better, but not 100%). Added oatmeal and Metamucil!!! Yummy!!! Not as great as it would be with the orange in it!!!

Orange and mango together is so refreshing!

  5. Anna says:

I liked this one but not as much as the others. Maybe I am not a fan of coconut water?

    • Simple Green Smoothies says:

Hey there Anna – If you haven’t tried coconut water in a smoothie before, that could be it! You can swap it out for regular water or a milk of your choice. Coconut milk would be what I’d go for to keep with the tropical theme and it doesn’t taste at all like coconut water.

  6. Susan says:

Creamy, hint of orange with a tease of banana.

  19. Catherine lennon says:

Currently participating in the 10 day Rawster challenge , generally I don’t like coconut water , there are substitutes offered for all ingredients throughout the challenge however my OCD means following the challenge to the exact haha I was surprised, first mouthful I found refreshing and I could taste a hint of the coconut water l I enjoyed the smoothie however and thought next time I would make it without coconut water after the challenge , by the third mouthful however the refreshing burst kicked in and the taste was amazing, I pre-judged this fruity delight and will definitely stick to the recipe if I make again.
A lovely summer carnival of goodness in my mouth .

Well I decided since it was suggested to turn this smoothie into a meal replacement added rolled oats and since I did not have almond butter in the pantry decided to substitute with organic peanut butter smooth. It is a game changer adding this two ingredients first flavour wise turns into even more delicious and second it is really feeling with out the food coma after.
Great Idea thank you rawkstar club.

  57. Diana says:

Withbthe ingredients Inused it was not bad. I substituted some frozen cranberries, frozen strawberries and an avacado for the mango, banana and orange. I also added some raw cauliflower and celery. I used less fruit and more vegetables. I used Organic super greens(spinach, kale, swiss chard and mizuna) in place of the spinach.
I added some cinnamon, MCT oil and a little NuttZo butter, 1 teaspoon Matcha, 1 Tablespoon full fat Greek yogurt.

Half way thru this challenge. How is everyone doing?

This was a really yummy recipe! I had a bag of mystery citrus & I ended up using a blood orange instead of an orange. That blood orange really added an extra layer of yum.

  71. doris says:

this is the sweetest one I’ve had since day one.

  72. Michelle says:

I cheated and added more mangoes just because I love them and with the coconut water which is good natural hydration for our bodies just hit the spot for me. I also like that even with the extra mangoes it wasn’t sweet.

  73. Dora Suarez says:

Loving this recipe I can really taste the mango & absolutely no hint of citrus (I froze the orange). This makes it a winner for me, adding to my keeper list.

  74. sherri says:

    My favorite by far.

All four of my kids did Not like this one. I don’t think they like the tropical flavor of it.

  76. Greg says:

Very good but I am wondering about how much sugar is in these smoothies since we are using so much fruit.

    • SGS Rawkstar Jess says:

Greg, if you’re concerned about the amount of natural sugar in your smoothie, you can flip the ratio of greens to fruit. 🙂

  77. Laura Allison says:

I’m a sucker for anything remotely tropical. Beginners lunch m and this one is definitely at the top.

  78. Cindy says:

Day 5 Best yet! I added protein powder. Energized me for the morning.

I enjoyed this smoothie very much. I made sure to remove the skin from the orange this time. Put it in my pretty peacock feather tervis and took is shopping with me.

  84. Jennifer A says:

Made recipe as is with no changes or additions. Great smoothie…fruity and delicious!

  85. Leslie says:

Great smoothies. I added coconut yogurt and made it even a smoother. Also, ran out of spinach and used kale.

  86. Sandy says:

I love this smoothie, except for peeling the orange and having half of it left over. I saw that others were using Mandarins, so I am going to try that the next time I make it. I love the flavor, though. I can’t eat oranges straight, but had no trouble with it blended in a smoothie, especially with mango. I love mango!

  87. Marie-Claude LAFLEUR says:

Quite a runner that one! I think it may even surpass the Beginner’s Luck as for taste, for me!! Love mangos, more than pineapples ! And with a kale cube added, it added a touch of freshness that was welcomed!

  88. Atlanta says:

I had to sub water for coconut water and kale for spinach plus I added glow protein powder. Delicious!

  89. Hilgay says:

Mangos are my all-time favourite fruit! So there was a pep in my step today as I drank my mango madness smoothie. Whohoo !! I use frozen mangos from Costco and they are excellent !

  90. Robert Bowen says:

This one was good, but not my favorite so far. I added kale, used regular water (don’t like the taste of coconut anything), mandarines instead of orange. My mango didn’t ripen up like I had hoped so didn’t have as much sweetness so this could have affected the overall taste. I do like the combo of ingredients. Will try again with a nicely ripened mango.

  91. Sonya says:

I didn’t realize that coconut water expires within 24hrs so I had to use regular water. It wasn’t the best.

  92. Carrie O says:

We all really enjoyed this one. I love the orange/mango/banana combo!!

  93. Kimberly Watt says:

    Oops I didn’t rate it

  96. Debi says:

This was the best smoothie yet on this challenge! We added Chia seeds however you could not take them. We are making this smoothie again and again.
    Thank you!

  97. Really good, as usual . I really love when they are a pretty green color.

  98. Julie says:

Really yummy! The entire family liked this one!

  99. Mary Middleton says:

Day 5’s mango madness smoothie is a winner! I used a mandarin vs orange & turned it into a meal replacement by adding 2 tbls chia seeds & 1 tbls coconut oil. Very filling!

  100. Sherry Villeneuve says:

I would give this one more stars if I could.
