I know I’ve been there. How about you? Too little sleep, too much sugar or stress, too little activity. Next thing I know, my metabolism starts to slow. And the scale starts to change. That’s why I love this Metabolism Boosting Tea. It’s a gentle, daily way to get my metabolism back on track. It will naturally suppress hunger and kick start the fat burning process.

There’s no secret here. To get your metabolism ramped up, you just need what we’ve always needed: rest, nutrient-dense foods that boost your metabolism and movement. This is how our bodies are meant to function and thrive.

When you get back to these basics, your body will respond and heal itself. Sometimes that means more energy, weight loss, clear skin, fewer aches, etc— but no matter what it’s going to be feeling better than it does right now.

Now, I know it’s waaaaay the heck easier said than done… and I struggle with this every single day. Yet I’ve had many break throughs over the years as I get older, which is why I’m here to share with you what works best for me in hopes that’ll it help you too.

Embracing simple food habits is where I’ve had the most success with my health. Baby steps. Progress over perfection. From a morning metabolism tea to a green smoothie— I have set the intention for the day to achieve the body I want to have: strong, healthy & energetic.

What foods increase metabolism and burn fat?

Getting a healthy amount of greens, legumes, proteins, vegetables and fruits is essential to supporting the metabolism (1). Slow burning carbohydrates will help you maintain a stable metabolic rate and keep you active and nourished throughout the day.

Stick with foods like…

Refined sugars and simple starches do the opposite, spiking insulin production and throwing the whole system out of whack. This can cause the metabolism to slow down and to store sugar as fat rather than burning it as energy. Yet it’s not easy to say no to them, so I prefer the method of adding in more good stuff so it crowds out the bad.

Bottom line ::
a mostly plant-based whole food diet is gonna do your metabolism some serious good.

To even get your body excited to head in this direction, you have to create simple habits that’ll get you craving these lighter, cleaner foods. And that’s where my Metabolism Tea comes into play.

What drinks boost metabolism?

Healthy beverages can be a great partner when it comes to getting your metabolism on track. Let’s be honest. When you’re first getting started, it’s much easier to incorporate something new to drink each day to rework your habits than it is to cook new meals!

There are three key players when it comes to metabolism boosting :: green tea, apple cider vinegar + protein.

Green tea in a metabolism boosting tea like the recipe below contains special types of antioxidants called catechins that have been particularly proven to boost metabolism and help burn fat. These rawkstar antioxidants are found in higher concentrations in certain types of green tea, like matcha.

Apple cider vinegar – or ACV to it’s closest friends – contains something called acetic acid. While research is still being done to see how this is helpful, initial studies show that acetic acid reduces insulin levels, which in turn ramps up your metabolism.

Protein helps kick your body into gear by helping you to feel full longer. There’s a reason why I can add a serving of my Protein Smoothie Boost (10 g of clean protein!) to a daily 16 oz. green smoothie and have the energy needed to go for hours without stopping to refuel again.

What is a metabolism tea?

Activating your metabolism will help you burn more fat and give you more energy throughout the day. This is something we all want and can get! It can start with my tea recipe using plant-based ingredients that are high in nutrients plus naturally activate your metabolism.

A metabolism tea is any type of tonic that is created using the best in those
metabolism boosting ingredients we mentioned above.

The morning tea recipe below uses a splash of apple cider vinegar, fresh lemon juice, cayenne pepper and cinnamon to wake up your metabolic system naturally. I’ve added some raw honey and ginger root to make it taste better and keep your tummy happy as well.

A fresh start, every morning

The best time to have this is upon rising as it will activate your digestive system and help relieve any bloating or digestive concerns. Once the tonic settles in, it’ll get your metabolism burn happening as well.

We have lots of rawkstars ask if they can make this in larger quantities and drink it throughout the week. And while I’m the first person to look for ways to save time in the kitchen, I’d say to avoid that here. Making a large amount of this metabolism boosting tea at once can lead to slimy results down the road.

Instead, we’d recommend that you mix those larger quantities of the recipe’s ingredients together – minus the water – and freeze into ice cube trays. Then in the morning, pop one cube into your mug and pour hot water over to melt. Doing this will set you up for that success you crave and get you on the road to lower weight + increased energy.

Why is this tea the best for weight loss?

When trying to shed a few pounds, I encourage you to drink this Metabolism Tea 1-2 times a day. It has all the fresh, natural ingredients to activate your metabolic system at a SUPER affordable price. I’m all about making a healthy lifestyle affordable.

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey, raw
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, fresh
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, raw
  • 2 tablespoons ginger root, grated
  • ground cinnamon
  • cayenne pepper


  • Combine warm water with raw honey. 
  • Add in fresh lemon juice and apple cider vinegar.
  • Grate fresh ginger and add into mason jar.
  • Add a dash of fresh cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
  • Combine well with a whisk or adding a lid and shaking up.



  • Feel free to adjust measurements based on taste preferences.

    I’ve been drinking the tea since Monday when I started the smoothie challenge.
    It’s hard to drink I can’t tolerate all the ginger…
    I’m loving all the smoothie…my kale is a bit strong….
    Also can’t find the app…

      Try using less ginger and see how that works for you. You might need to slowly get use to it because we are all different. Same goes for the kale too! You can always switch it with spinach if you prefer.

    Good morning,
    I have a question which is not related to this post. I have 2 Inflammatory diseases which caused severe pain. I cannot exercise anymore due to this issue. I have Endometriosis and Interstitial Cystitis(Bladder Disease) I’m not sure if you are familiar with either one of these. My bladder condition is the issue at this time with this disease I can’t have citric acid, caffeine… any suggestions of inflammatory green smoothies??

    I’ve been doing something very similar to this for years. I also add a tablespoon of turmeric paste to help with inflammation. I have lost 30 pounds over about three years and maintained it for the last two.

    Hooooo-eeee! That’s hot. My ginger was so fresh, the leaves were attached. And I was, perhaps, a little generous with the cayenne. The grated ginger pieces were too much so I threw the whole thing in my Vitamix with an extra 1/2 cup of water. Much easier to drink that way. It tastes better at the bottom of the cup as the honey tends to settle there. lol! Thanks for the recipe. I’m looking forward to experiencing more energy!

    Tried Metabolism Tea this morning at 5:30am…… WOW what a drink. The ginger and cayenne pepper woke me up right away. I was bloated but by the time I went for my morning run, my tummy had already gone down. Will continue to drink this in the mornings. How long should I wait after drinking tea to have a light meal or a cup of coffee? Thank you Jen,

    I tried this and I was so surprised that i indeed liked the taste. The acidity from the acv and lemon was balanced by the sweetness of the honey.     I love this tonic. I use a small amount of maple syrup instead of the raw honey.
    Apple cider vinegar is known to aid in weight loss, yet to drink it by itself, it’s not very pleasant to swallow.
    In this recipe, the additional ingredients are all delicious, and all assist in healthy weight loss.

    This combo actually tastes pretty good and makes drinking ACV tolerable. I’m used to drinking the hot lemon and ginger tonic from the cleanses…this just steps it up a notch, packing more flavor punch and health benefits. About half way through, I had to strain out the ginger though, as it was just too much. I like the ginger taste, just not all the chunks. I don’t think I could drink this on a daily basis, but will definitely make it again.

    I thought it was really good. It was too sweet for me but I don’t like sweet things. I drink black coffee and very dark chocolate. I plan to make again and cut the amount of honey. I also used the fresh ginger that was already grated in a tube so I think it was a bit more concentrated that if I have grated at the time of making so I will grate myself or use less of the pre-grated one.

    I am reading the comments and keep wondering if I’m missing something… this is potent!! I ended up adding far more than 1 cup of warm water!! 2 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with only 1 cup of water? The honey, lemon, and cinnamon help but it was barely drinkable till I added more water.. probably ended up using about 3 cups of water. Hope it helps as I realize I have diluted the potency but I couldn’t possibly get it down with just one cup of water.

    I was actually drinking a very similar concoction (with turmeric only instead of cinnamon and cayenne pepper, and maple syrup instead of honey) for quite a while but then I stopped, not sure now why? I’m going to try and incorporate it into my morning routine again – starting tomorrow! 🙂

    Wow, this is really good. Love the taste of the ginger and honey. Never had raw honey before. I doubled it to sip on through out the day. Again, Wow!!!


    This is a really great tea. I was so surprised how much I really enjoy it. To be honest, at first I was a little hesitant, but I really liked it a hot. All the combination of the different flavors gives it a really great taste and I felt really great after I drank my first cup. I will make this past of my morning.     I had been taking the warm water lemon drink, until you sent this. I tried it and it is so ahhhhmazing!!! I didn’t have cayenne pepper and had run out of an

    Thanks for sharing this metabolism tea. It really is da bomb!! I made it up last night, enough for three (all for me); had one cup last night and the other this morning. I normally have 2 glasses of water first thing, take my meds and then wait a spell for my body to get to the ‘aha moment’. Anyhoo I had some meta-tea last night because I’ve been trying to go gym in the mornings since I joining up again (quite recently) but my body, brain, eyes all seem to wake up at different times and no point going when the body is still in another time zone coz that’s just uncomfortable (if you get my drift) so I thought drink a cup so all those parts wake up simultaneously and it did!! I was able to ‘see to my biz’ first thing and then hit the gym around 6.30am – felt right as rain. Did a proper good workout and then came back and had had another ‘shift’. That’s never happened before. NEVER. This is now a staple going forward. Amazing job. I am just so happy as the lark!!!
    It tastes so good, hot, spicy, warming – just everything you could want in a tea.

    Just made, drank and loved this tea. Was a bit skeptical as some of the ingredients are ‘scary!’ Much to my surprise it tasted so good. Shared with my friend as I think everybody should drink it. Will definitely be including this tea in my daily routine along with my green smoothies!! Thank you.

    Tried it this morning – it was a nice start to the day. Not sure it made any difference – too soon to tell really.

    At my age (60ish) it is getting harder and harder to persued my body to let go of the extra weight. It seems to make no differencre what I do – eat healthy, eat more green, don’t snack, do moderate exercise – I have tried them all. Body is stuck on its set weight and returns there no matter how much or little I eat. It mostly stays tere, but then it also attempts to rise a little as time goes on. So anything that can help me to reset it is helpful. Not sure this is it either.

    Its those extra 20kg that stick around my waist that are making it hard. Don’t want to have to keep buying a new wardrobe. Don’t really want to be Mrs Tubby either.

    I am expecting great things from the Metabolism tea. I am on a new way of eating (WOE) and already drink ACV in H2O 3 X’s a day. I also add cinnamon and cayenne to foods and eat fish with fresh lemon juice nearly every day. Now I can combine them all with ginger and raw honey to give my metabolism the jolt it needs and deserves in the morning.Thank you sooo much!

    I have to say, I was a little surprised! I made a commitment to myself last night that i’m going to take care of myself for once… when you have kids, you tend to make sure they are ok while forgetting you matter as well! Anyway, this morning i tried this tea and it wasn’t bad at all! I downed it quickly… got the kids organized and went to make a coffee… Not sure if it’s related or not (We’ll find out tomorrow morning) 😉 but i didn’t even make the coffee. I stood there, and thought I don’t even feel like one! Weird! 🙂

    When I received your note in the mail yesterday and read the ingredients I immediately fell in love with the list because it is everything I like in my drink. I got so excited that I pre-prepared my things over night for a well synchronize taste. This morning I simply pour the warm water into is, and as I sipped it I felt my “heavenly day” has started. I started my day on a very good note knowing that, I am drinking what I enjoy first thing in the morning.

    I was surprised that I actually liked the taste. I’ve I have tried many different ways to consume apple cider vinegar and it usually ruins the taste of whatever I put in it, for me, other than salad dressing but in this concoction I guess the honey and the lemon really mask the taste of the vinegar. I only used 1 tablespoon not 2. I find the drink very tasty but a bit on the strong side so for me I need to add more water.

    Good recipe. Easy to make with ingredients on hand. I’ve heard a lot about drinking vinegar, etc., to boost metabolism, but it’s just too hard for me to enjoy the taste. The ginger kills me. I don’t think I can actually drink this consistently. Worth a try though! Thank you.

      We hope you do give it a try. The benefits of this drink it totally worth it. You can even add in less of the ginger and ACV until your taste buds are use to it. Then slowly add in more if you continue to drink it.

The spicyness is balanced by the sweet sour taste of the honey,apple cider and calamansi ( I”m from the Philippines and what i have in my ref is calamansi instead of lemon).     This is something I just can’t learn to love. It’s the ginger. It makes my face look like that pucker face emoji. (I don’t like ginger, as much as I try to because I know it’s so good for your gut). So I try it without the ginger and it’s just too.. I don’t know. I’ve forced it down but it’s not my fave.

      I would try adding a lot less of the ginger and maybe over time start adding in a little more each day. That way you will slowly get used to it. Hope that helps!

    I make Switchel and keep it in the fridge, It’s the same thing only better because the ginger ferments and adds probiotics on top of everything else. I use half blackstrap molasses and half raw honey, filtered water, ACV and ginger. Then a splash of Lime juice to round it out. SUPER refreshing in the summer and all year long. I keep a quart jar going constantly in the fridge.
    Like all these other “Metabolism” boosters, they really don’t work that way, but it does provide nutrients, especially when you use the molasses.
    Even Cayenne pepper does nothing for the metabolism. Getting your heart rate up from pepper isn’t the same thing.
    I do drink warm lemon juice with a splash of cayenne in it now and then but that too, does nothing for your metabolism.
