My homemade island green smoothie blends mango, pineapple and fresh ginger with spinach and kale, a copycat of the Detox Island Green. No ice thinning it out, so you get 16 ounces of greens, 23 grams of protein and 9 grams of fiber.
Pour the water into a blender. Add the spinach, kale and ginger and blend until smooth.
Add the pineapple, mango, banana and chia seeds and blend on high until smooth, 45 to 60 seconds, adding a splash more water if it's too thick.
Add the collagen and blend on low just to combine. Pour into a glass and serve immediately.
Notes
Ginger Tip: Peel the ginger with the edge of a spoon and chop it before adding. Start with 1 teaspoon if you prefer a milder bite.
Make It Thicker: Use a frozen banana for a thicker, colder smoothie. Here's how to freeze bananas so you always have some ready.
Vegan Swap: Collagen peptides aren't vegan. Use a serving of plant-based protein powder instead.
Storing: Best fresh, since the chia seeds keep thickening as it sits. It keeps in a sealed jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake and add a splash of water before drinking.
