Almonds are my go-to snack since they provide a quick boost of healthy fats, protein and fiber. I often take them on long runs, into the Grand Canyon, and you can probably find some floating around my purse in case of an emergency. This almond smoothie recipe was a no-brainer.
Almonds and almond milk combined with bananas and strawberries quickly become a filling and delicious breakfast.

How to Make an Almond Smoothie
Get ready for the world’s healthiest fast foodโa smoothie. In one easy step, you’ve got a meal that is filling, full of great nutrients and tastes delicious.
- Blend all ingredients until smooth.
- Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
Make sure at least one of your fruits is frozen to produce a refreshingly cool smoothie. And if you just can’t handle a smoothie without leafy greens then toss ’em in!
Easy Recipe Swaps
Swap in one serving of your favorite homemade protein powder for chia seeds. The cinnamon honestly makes this smoothie next level. Omit it if cinnamon isn’t your thing. While this is called an almond smoothie, there is no judgment if you use a different plant milk. Cashew milk or oat milk would work great!
If the natural sugar is a bit too much for you then swap out 1/2 of the banana for 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower. Swap the 2 tbsps of almonds for the nut or seed of your choice.
Choosing the Right Milk
You can either buy or make almond milk, and both are great options!
Store-bought almond milk: There are so many brands to choose from when buying almond milk. I love the variety and accessibility of plant-based milk today! Yet ALWAYS read the labels (even of your favorite brand!) to make sure companies aren’t trying to slip weird ingredients into your milk.
Every year Simple Green Smoothies searches all the grocery stores in the Tampa Bay area for new and improved brands of almond milk, then we test them and rate. We do all the research for you!
Homemade almond milk: I love making my own plant milk. It’s easy and I know exactly what goes into it. If you’ve never tried to make your own before, then try it! You might never go back to the store-bought stuff again.
You can swap almond milk into any healthy smoothie recipe you want for a creamier, nutty result.
Benefits of Almonds
Almonds are a pretty impressive nut. One ounce of almonds holds 3.5 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein and 14 grams of fat as well as large amounts of the recommended daily value of vitamin E, manganese and magnesium.
They also contain large amounts of antioxidants, which our bodies use to fight inflammation and cancer.
Because almonds are high in fat, protein and fiber, they can help lower blood sugar. Grab a handful for your next snack and soak in the benefits.
I use both almonds and almond milk in my almond smoothie recipe to increase all the goodness going into my body.
Almond Smoothie FAQs
Yes! Adding in raw almonds, almond milk, or almond meal to your next smoothie will give you fiber and a healthy fat boost.
Only if you don’t like almond milk. It’s a delicious, plant-based option that easily blends with a variety of fruits and veggies. Almond milk adds in good nutrients as well as works as a natural thickener.
They can be! If you’ve got a high-powered blender, then you can add pretty much any raw nut to a smoothie and enjoy its benefits. If your blender isn’t Vitamix-grade, then soak the nuts for four hours before blending to soften.

Excellent smoothie. I make this frequently substituting ingredients depending on what is on hand. Today I added a tablespoon or so of oats, โprotein boostโ, spinach and substituted pecans for some of the almonds. I use this smoothie sometimes for dessert and will add cacao powder. Almonds naturally add a sweetness to any recipe.
This smoothie recipe contains my favorite ingredients. This time I did add some spinach. Delicious
Another good one. I added some rolled oats, collagen powder and berry protein powder. Also threw in some frozen spinach so the color wasn’t very pretty but sure tasted good. Enjoyed every gulp.
Happy again! After the lemon disaster I began to worry. I had such high hopes for the perfect lemonade. BUT TODAY made it all better again. My daughter said โyum thatโs just like a cinnamon rollโ yes another keeper for the Milazzo family.
I made this with smoothie with coconut water instead of almond milk. I was delicious and still slightly creamy. I would have never thought of an almond smoothie being good until I tried this recipe.
Iโve had mixed feelings about using almond milk in my smoothies, but this smoothie was so delicious. I did not think that I would like it as much as I did. It was pleasantly sweet and creamy, although I wished it had been a little thicker. I could really taste the strawberry in this one and strawberry is one of my favorite flavors. The almond flavor really compliments the other flavors in the smoothie. I definitely will have to make this again.
This smoothie was very creamy (I also added frozen zucchini) but I do think it needs a new name. It tastes like a regular banana strawberry smoothie. By the name I would think Iโd be drinking an almost overpowering almond flavor.
Oh My, Today’s Smoothie Was So Delicious And Creamy. All Of The Flavors Blended So Well Together. I Tasted The Almonds, The Strawberries And The Banana. With Every Sip Of My Smoothie I Wanted More . I Will Be Making This Again.
I found this tasty. However, next time I think I would make it without any sweetener as it is plenty sweet by itself and perhaps I would also add rolled oats. We really enjoyed the rolled oats the other day in the meal replacement smoothie.
Delicious! The cinnamon was a great addition.
I used raw crunchy almond butter since I couldn’t rationalize spending extra money on almonds when I have 2 jars of this up in my cupboards. I also miscalculated and ran out if frozen strawberries (only had enough for 1/4 cup) so did 1/4 cup frozen strawberries and 1/4 cup raspberries. I held off on the honey, which I am glad cuz I really found this super sweet. It was pleasantly filling. The cinnamon was a perfect addition. I would definitely try it again.
This is my first 5 review of this challenge. This smoothie tasted so good, it could easily be dessert. Super yummy. The ingredients all blended so well. But, I could still taste each ingredient (except the almonds).
This smoothie was such a treat, especially after yesterdayโs sour pucker one. I added collagen and omitted the honey, as I found it to be sweet enough without adding it. I was surprised by how much I liked the flavor that cinnamon added to it. I love the health benefits of cinnamon, so this is a nice once to add to my repeats.
Oh my goodness, this was gooooood, even though my brain knew there was cinnamon in it my tastebuds seemed surprised each time it happened because it didn’t look like it would taste that way. Definitely one of my favourites.
Creamy, satisfying, delicious and filling.
This Epic Almond smoothie was yummy. So smooth and warming with the added cinnamon. I added almond nut butter instead of almonds along with a dash of nutmeg and deleted the honey. It was delicious and I my #2 favorite.
