Cherry Pineapple Smoothie Bowl with Beet Root Powder!

Beets in any form are one of my favorite smoothie ingredients. Not only is their color stunning, but they are loaded with health benefits and sweetness (more on that below). Yet I know some one of you are reading this and going “no thank you!” Beets can feel gritty and taste dirty— which is a hard one to down in the name of health.

Yet there’s a great way to get the antioxidant power without the dirt: beet root powder.

My latest obsession is organic beet root powder from Mountain Rose Herbs. We’ve partnered with them to bring you this tasty, ruby-hued Cherry Pineapple Smoothie Bowl featuring their fabulous beet powder.


As I mentioned, beets are nutrition powerhouses. They are naturally sweet—one of the very sweetest of veggies—and are loaded with antioxidants and dietary fiber. They are also a great source of calcium, iron, potassium, folate, manganese, and nitrates. Fun fact: Consuming beets before and after a workout can help improve performance and recovery.

What’s crazy, though, is that Mountain Rose Herbs found a way to pack all that nutrition from the fresh beets into a dried beet root powder. One teaspoon of the powder is equal to one fresh beet. Pretty cool, right? Even better, if you’re not a big fan of the flavor of beets, this powder is perfect for you! It has a pleasant, earthy smell, but is virtually flavorless. And can we please talk about the gorgeous color?! (Bonus: I totally use Mountain Rose Herbs beet powder as a natural red food coloring, too. Health benefits and stunning color. Can’t “beet” that! Ha!)

And now for that Cherry Pineapple Smoothie Bowl Recipe! I still love smoothie bowls. Still. It forces me to slow down – I’m a smoothie chugger – and enjoy what I’ve blended. Plus it’s gorgeous, naturally sweet, and totally healthy!

For best results, use as much frozen fruit as you can, except for the orange. That functions as the liquid in this recipe. We use less liquid in smoothie bowls so the blend is thicker—more like soft-serve sorbet. That also means the flavors are more concentrated. Prepare to LOVE this rawkin’ red smoothie bowl!

Cherry Pineapple Smoothie Bowl

This rawkin’ red smoothie bowl is loaded with sweet fruit flavor and a good dose of extra nutrients thanks to organic beet root powder from Mountain Rose Herbs.



  • 1 medium orange (peeled and seeded)
  • 1 medium banana (frozen)
  • 1/2 cup cherries (frozen)
  • 1/2 cup pineapple (frozen)
  • 12 teaspoons organic beet root powder (from Mountain Rose Herbs)
  • 1/2” piece fresh ginger (peeled if desired (optional))
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (for topping (optional))
  • 1 tablespoon hemp hearts (for topping (optional))
  • sliced pineapple and cherries (for garnish)


  1. Place ingredients into blender in order listed. Blend, stopping as needed to tamp down and scrape down sides. If blender is having a difficult time, add a little water.
  2. Pour into wide, shallow bowl and add toppings, if desired.


Use at least 1 teaspoon of beet root powder or more, as desired. Berries can be used in place of cherries. Half of an avocado can be used in place of the banana, if needed.

    I really like smoothie but I’ve never had the pleasure of eating a smoothie cake actually, this is the first time I’ve seen a smoothie cake recipe, I believe that as the drink, the cake is also wonderful, now just test the recipe
