I love this almond smoothie on mornings when I want something creamy—not too cold, not too sweet, just steady and nourishing. It’s also a great breakfast smoothie if you want a dependable recipe you can come back to again and again.

This almond smoothie is one of those recipes that feels familiar in the best way. It’s lightly sweet, creamy without being heavy, and made with simple ingredients you probably already have on hand. Almond milk and raw almonds create a rich, nutty base, while banana and strawberries add natural sweetness and a hint of fruitiness. Finished with a touch of cinnamon, it’s comforting, balanced, and easy to enjoy again and again.

Ingredients You’ll Need

This recipe keeps things simple while delivering both flavor and nourishment.

  • Almond milk creates a smooth, non-dairy base that lets the other ingredients shine. Check out my recommend almond milk brands or make your own almond milk.
  • Raw almonds add healthy fats and a subtle nutty flavor that makes the smoothie more filling.
  • Banana is a great natural sweetener and helps everything blend into a creamy texture.
  • Frozen strawberries add brightness and a gentle tartness that balances the almond flavor.
  • Ground cinnamon gives the smoothie a warm, cozy finish.
  • Maple syrup or honey (optional) adds just a touch of extra sweetness if needed.

How to Make an Almond Smoothie

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. If your blender needs help breaking down the almonds, blend a little longer or pause to scrape down the sides.
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy right away.

Ingredient Variations

  • Add protein: Swap in one serving of my homemade protein powder to give this smoothie more staying power. It blends in easily without changing the flavor too much.
  • Change the spice: The cinnamon really takes this smoothie to the next level, but feel free to omit it if cinnamon isn’t your thing or swap in a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla instead.
  • Use a different plant milk: Even though this is called an almond smoothie, there’s no judgment if you use another milk. Cashew milk or oat milk both work well and keep the smoothie creamy.
  • Lower the natural sugar: If the sweetness feels like too much, replace half of the banana with ¼ cup frozen cauliflower. It keeps the texture creamy while reducing sugar. I use cauliflower in a lot of my weight loss smoothies.
  • Swap the nuts or seeds: Replace the raw almonds with another nut or seed you enjoy, like walnuts, pecans, hemp hearts, or sunflower seeds.

Recipe Tips

  • For extra creaminess: Soak the raw almonds in warm water for 10 minutes before blending.
  • For a thicker smoothie: Use a frozen banana or add a few ice cubes.
  • For a lighter option: Skip the added sweetener and let the fruit do the work.

Are almonds in smoothies good?

Yes! Adding in raw almonds, almond milk, or almond meal to your next smoothie will give you fiber and a healthy fat boost.

Is almond milk bad in smoothies?

Only if you don’t like almond milk. It’s a delicious, plant-based option that easily blends with a variety of fruits and veggies. Almond milk adds in good nutrients as well as works as a natural thickener.

Are raw almonds good in smoothies?

They can be! If you’ve got a high-powered blender, then you can add pretty much any raw nut to a smoothie and enjoy its benefits. If your blender isn’t Vitamix-grade, then soak the nuts for four hours before blending to soften.

Really good. May be one of my favorites. The flavors balance nicely and it makes a thick smoothie. May not be one I drink often due to it being higher calorie/fat content, but as a splurge drink, I am all over it!

This is your basic strawberry banana smoothie with the addition of almonds. It’s been in my rotation for years because it is a “goodie.” I ran it long enough in my Vitamix to get any hints of “almond chunks” completely liquified.

Delicious! Although not surprising – I love almond strawberry smoothies, next time I’ll add a frozen banana instead.

  4. 3 stars
This smoothie tasted pretty good but was a bit bland. I prefer smoothies with a more intense taste.

I’ll be adding this one to my rotation. I made it as listed in the recipe without honey and it was delicious!

Good flavors! I’m surprised I’m tasting the strawberries in this one, but I do. And the banana is not overpowering. I’d make this again (and add a scoop of protein powder).

This one surprised me this morning! I was expecting it to be a bit bland, but it had a really nice little burst of flavor!

This was nice; nothing too special: light in texture, light in flavour, light in colour. I’m not a milkshake person, but I’m guessing this probably tastes like a light strawberry milkshake.

Not an exciting smoothie with exotic fruits, vegetables, and other flavorings…But this smoothie is perfect! I’ll have to see how this smoothie rates in terms of staying power as a meal replacement, but I’m hopeful. Next time I make this I’ll swap out some banana with cauliflower as suggested.

Challenge Day 5 Epic Almond: Not that epic for me, I’m afraid. Could not taste the strawberries at all, and I don’t think I will make this often.

By far, my favorite smoothie yet! Creamy, satisfying and filling. Will definitely be making this one over and over!

  12. 4 stars
nice taste and smooth. I did not use the syrup or honey, strawberries are enough sweetness.

The almonds & cinnamon add a nice flavor! I really enjoyed this one!

Very different for me. I think I would prefer less cinnamon. However, it’s quite good.

I made as written, no protein powder, only 3 frozen strawberries and no sweetener except fresh banana. I found it a little “flat” and thin but liked the cinnamon. I’ll try it again with frozen banana, more strawberries and protein powder.

I found this one to be a little bland/flat too. Also did not use frozen banana. I feel that frozen fruit makes less flavorful smoothies. Used frozen berries.

    2. 5 stars
Love cinnamon and maple in here, used mixed berries instead of strawberries and half the cinnamon cuz I find that flavor to be strong at half tsp.

Epic Almond: Very good. I usually don’t make smoothies without some sort of greens in them … so this tasted almost like a dessert smoothie to me. Interesting. The cinnamon was a nice touch.

This was good, I definitely will try honey instead of the syrup, I ran out of cold almond milk so I had to use room temperature and only a quarter of my strawberries were frozen, maybe if my banana was frozen as well I would have liked it more. I will give it another try later on. However the lemon smoothie trumps them all so far.

This one is epic for real, I am quite full after this one. It’s kind of a milk-shake
