I love this almond smoothie on mornings when I want something creamy—not too cold, not too sweet, just steady and nourishing. It’s also a great breakfast smoothie if you want a dependable recipe you can come back to again and again.

This almond smoothie is one of those recipes that feels familiar in the best way. It’s lightly sweet, creamy without being heavy, and made with simple ingredients you probably already have on hand. Almond milk and raw almonds create a rich, nutty base, while banana and strawberries add natural sweetness and a hint of fruitiness. Finished with a touch of cinnamon, it’s comforting, balanced, and easy to enjoy again and again.

Ingredients You’ll Need

This recipe keeps things simple while delivering both flavor and nourishment.

  • Almond milk creates a smooth, non-dairy base that lets the other ingredients shine. Check out my recommend almond milk brands or make your own almond milk.
  • Raw almonds add healthy fats and a subtle nutty flavor that makes the smoothie more filling.
  • Banana is a great natural sweetener and helps everything blend into a creamy texture.
  • Frozen strawberries add brightness and a gentle tartness that balances the almond flavor.
  • Ground cinnamon gives the smoothie a warm, cozy finish.
  • Maple syrup or honey (optional) adds just a touch of extra sweetness if needed.

How to Make an Almond Smoothie

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. If your blender needs help breaking down the almonds, blend a little longer or pause to scrape down the sides.
  2. Pour into a glass and enjoy right away.

Ingredient Variations

  • Add protein: Swap in one serving of my homemade protein powder to give this smoothie more staying power. It blends in easily without changing the flavor too much.
  • Change the spice: The cinnamon really takes this smoothie to the next level, but feel free to omit it if cinnamon isn’t your thing or swap in a pinch of nutmeg or vanilla instead.
  • Use a different plant milk: Even though this is called an almond smoothie, there’s no judgment if you use another milk. Cashew milk or oat milk both work well and keep the smoothie creamy.
  • Lower the natural sugar: If the sweetness feels like too much, replace half of the banana with ¼ cup frozen cauliflower. It keeps the texture creamy while reducing sugar. I use cauliflower in a lot of my weight loss smoothies.
  • Swap the nuts or seeds: Replace the raw almonds with another nut or seed you enjoy, like walnuts, pecans, hemp hearts, or sunflower seeds.

Recipe Tips

  • For extra creaminess: Soak the raw almonds in warm water for 10 minutes before blending.
  • For a thicker smoothie: Use a frozen banana or add a few ice cubes.
  • For a lighter option: Skip the added sweetener and let the fruit do the work.

Are almonds in smoothies good?

Yes! Adding in raw almonds, almond milk, or almond meal to your next smoothie will give you fiber and a healthy fat boost.

Is almond milk bad in smoothies?

Only if you don’t like almond milk. It’s a delicious, plant-based option that easily blends with a variety of fruits and veggies. Almond milk adds in good nutrients as well as works as a natural thickener.

Are raw almonds good in smoothies?

They can be! If you’ve got a high-powered blender, then you can add pretty much any raw nut to a smoothie and enjoy its benefits. If your blender isn’t Vitamix-grade, then soak the nuts for four hours before blending to soften.

Day 5 Smoothie Challenge! Epic Almond Smoothie had a great flavor and texture!
I did add your Simple Green homemade protein powder and Collagen. My vitamix always does a beautiful job of blending everything to a beautiful creamy, yummy texture!

Loved the cinnamon in the background of this smoothie . It didn’t really stick with me for very long I was feeling hungry a little while latter.

Holy Moley! Is this an absolute delight, or what?? Of course I made double so I could partake of a treat throughout the day rather than snacking on junk. I love the almonds, so I added a handful and lots of cinnamon. It was a bit too thick so I added water. Other than that, I actually followed a recipe, to my and my grandkids sheer happiness. Yum!!

If you like a thick consistency in your smoothie, this one is for you! Thick like a milkshake but dairy-free and lots of almond goodness. Don’t forget your straw.

Good idea, Laura. I wish I had thought to add spinach. I’ll certainly make a note for the next time I make this one.

Delicious! Had to substitute pistachios for the almonds & flax milk for the almond milk due to the high oxalates in almonds. I added a bit of arugula but very little since I was almost out of it. I probably used slightly less banana & slightly more strawberries and didn’t use any honey, which was optional anyway. It was really good. David hasn’t tried it yet so I don’t have his opinion. He’s like Mikey. He hates everything.

One of my favorite smoothies to date! It is full of flavor, filling, and packed with antioxidants. I did replace the maple syrup with a dates. Either way, I will be making this as a base for all my smoothies moving forward feeling stronger already!

Very filling and creamy. The flavor was good, but mild. I think I could play around using this as a base

I always hesitate to rate smoothies as I usually make changes. This one is no exception. I used oatmilk and hemp seeds instead of the almond milk and almonds. One half banana was enough for me as was 1/4 teas.cinnamon. I also added a small handful of power greens and a dash of turmeric. I find it doesn’t spike my blood sugar so much when I balance the fruit with some veggies. I enjoyed my creation and will make it again.

Very mild tasting… I thought it was going to be more strawberry flavored but it wasn’t it was like a light milk beverage. My blend wasn’t very thick maybe next time I will add more strawberries. I did like it don’t get me wrong, just prefer my smoothies to come out thicker, with a shake like consistency. Because I was having this as a meal replacement I also added some vanilla protein powder.

Delicious smoothie. Not very cold. Added protein and collagen powders for a pre workout smoothie and meal replacement. With double the amount of strawberries it was much better

The flavor is amazing. The cinnamon adds the perfect touch. This will be a regular in our home. I love that beside the great taste, it supplies nutrients that I need daily.
