Breakfast Fruit Salad Recipe
Make sure to wash and dry all the fruit before adding it to your bowl. You can either keep all the berries whole or slice the strawberries, your choice. Add a pink or yellow grapefruit that’s been peeled and segmented, again keeping the slices whole or chopping them in half.
After you drizzle the orange juice and maple syrup over the fruit, very gently mix it all together. You don’t want to smash the berries yet you do want to distribute the ‘dressing’ evenly.
I love the addition of mint yet if it’s not your favorite flavor then omit it. Sprinkle the sliced almonds and your gorgeous berry salad is ready to enjoy.

- The antioxidants in berries help protect your cells from free radicals.
- Though berries are known for their sweetness, they are typically low in sugar and can help control blood sugar.
- Berries are especially high in fiber, which many Americans are lacking.
- Benefit from all the anti-inflammatory properties when you include these bright fruits in your diet.

Easy Ingredient Swaps
I chose berries that are all fresh at the same time in Central Florida. Feel free to swap out any of these with berries that are local and seasonal for you.
If nut-free is what you need, then swap out the almonds with hemp hearts to keep the nutty flavor and crunch. Coconut flakes also pair well with this fruity concoction in place of almonds.
Honey can replace maple syrup, or omit altogether to keep this lower in natural sugar.
Berry Salad FAQs
Try to make it and eat it the same day so all the fruit is fresh. If you wash and dry the berries well before mixing together, this salad can be made in the morning, then refrigerated until ready to enjoy.
I added grapefruit and fresh-squeezed orange juice to my bowl of berries to balance out the sweetness and add a bit more color.
Honestly, choose local, seasonally fresh berries for your salad. These might change depending on your location and that’s fine! I follow EWG’s Dirty Dozen when choosing which organic produce to buy.

My husband I loved this salad! The dressing helped to balance the flavor if some of the fruits were a little on the tart side.
Delicious for breakfast. I swapped orange for grapefruit and added some peaches.
Oh, love the peaches!
I am low fodmap so the berries in this salad work well for me. I’m not a fan of using fruit out of season so I did use some frozen. As a result, it wasn’t a favorite. I’m also not sure the maple flavor pairs well.
You could def use honey in place of the maple syrup for this one, if that helps!
This looks pretty and the almonds add a nice touch. I used fewer, though; as a sweet side dish, using 1/4 cup almonds adds too many kcal to the meal if this just serves 2. I also didn’t add the sweetener and don’t like sweet dressings in general.
This is a wonderful weekend brunch salad! Love the combination of refreshing berries and it is a perfect way to start the day! One of my favorites so far!
Wow what a delicious way to start the day! This bowl will put a smile on your face and a big dose of happy in your belly!
Great breakfast. I switch grapefruit to orange. I used raw honey. What a great day to start the day. Yummy
So! Good! That is all.
Nice combination of berries and citrus. Will be keeping this recipe handy!
Iโve been looking forward to this one all week! The mint and maple syrup were perfect additions to the berries. Will definitely add this into our salad rotation!
I absolutely love berry salads. I couldn’t wait to eat rhus one for breakfast. Normally I don’t mix berries and citrus but I really liked the bit of sourness from the grapefruit and I added a little bit of grapefruit and orange zest just to get some of the oils from the skin in their. I also loved the mint pairing here. Mint always makes everything taste fresh. I was lucky to find ginormous grapefruits at a farmers market and had one left to make for this salad. Perfect start to the day.
We just had the salad for a late breakfast. It was very refreshing and the mint gave it a little extra something. Funny thing, I thought I don’t like blueberries, but turns out I do like them ๐
Way to give blueberries another shot!!
Nice combo of flavor!
Love that this very easy berry salad had grapefruit and mint in it. It was wonderfully refreshing.
I love this salad. We had it for breakfast and then I made it for lunch the next day. In the lunch version, I added in some spinach and spring greens without the maple syrup using lemon juice, grapefruit juice, honey, and a little olive oil. Yummy.
I am considering putting some toasted coconut on top. The variations are endless!
Wow! Sounds super yummy! Way to get creative! I love that your experimenting.
I love this idea for a brunch salad to share. It’s like an elevated fruit salad!
Brunch is a great idea for this beauty of a salad!
