Breakfast Fruit Salad Recipe
Make sure to wash and dry all the fruit before adding it to your bowl. You can either keep all the berries whole or slice the strawberries, your choice. Add a pink or yellow grapefruit that’s been peeled and segmented, again keeping the slices whole or chopping them in half.
After you drizzle the orange juice and maple syrup over the fruit, very gently mix it all together. You don’t want to smash the berries yet you do want to distribute the ‘dressing’ evenly.
I love the addition of mint yet if it’s not your favorite flavor then omit it. Sprinkle the sliced almonds and your gorgeous berry salad is ready to enjoy.
Antioxidant Feast
If you aren’t already convinced that berries are great Top Superfoods List to add to your daily routine then read on:
- The antioxidants in berries help protect your cells from free radicals.
- Though berries are known for their sweetness, they are typically low in sugar and can help control blood sugar.
- Berries are especially high in fiber, which many Americans are lacking.
- Benefit from all the anti-inflammatory properties when you include these bright fruits in your diet.
Enjoy the deliciousness that comes from berries along with incredible health benefits designed to help you live your best life.
Easy Ingredient Swaps
I chose berries that are all fresh at the same time in Central Florida. Feel free to swap out any of these with berries that are local and seasonal for you.
If nut-free is what you need, then swap out the almonds with hemp hearts to keep the nutty flavor and crunch. Coconut flakes also pair well with this fruity concoction in place of almonds.
Honey can replace maple syrup, or omit altogether to keep this lower in natural sugar.
Berry Salad FAQs
Try to make it and eat it the same day so all the fruit is fresh. If you wash and dry the berries well before mixing together, this salad can be made in the morning, then refrigerated until ready to enjoy.
I added grapefruit and fresh-squeezed orange juice to my bowl of berries to balance out the sweetness and add a bit more color.
Honestly, choose local, seasonally fresh berries for your salad. These might change depending on your location and that’s fine! I follow EWG’s Dirty Dozen when choosing which organic produce to buy.

Good fresh berries not always available in the NW this time of year. Orange sub for grapefruit a good choice. as is honey for maple syrup.
Yes! Both are perfect substitutes!
Not gonna lie, I was waiting for this one. If I could live on berries, I would. My favorite so far! Love it!
yay! I love when Rawkstars find their favorites in the 10-Day challenges!
This was a delicious salad! Served it as dessert. Doubled the fruits and kept the dressing as is. Will be enjoying it for breakfast, as well!!
Such a perfect breakfast salad! Loved the berries but didn’t care for the grapefruit. Was also confused by the 3 tbsp orange, juiced – thought it was 3 tbsp of orange juice but that was way too much liquid – will do a squeeze of orange next time. Also way too much mint if you add a full 1/4 cup, but just a little added as garnish adds a light refreshing flavor. Will be making again with a few modifications!
I served this as a dessert salad and it was delicious! The flavors melded perfectly. The sweet and tart flavors from the the fruits, along with the savory flavor of the mint really worked. The light dressing just tied everything together! I doubled the fruits and the dressing was enough as is. Weโll be enjoying leftovers for breakfast!!
I’m going to have to pass on this one. There is not a berry that I care to eat.
Happy weekend salad. This was my brunch salad. Even the grandkids love it.
Perfect for your sweet tooth, easy to adjust the maple syrup depending on the sweetness of the berries.
What a delightful summer salad! Loved the refreshing mint paired with the berries and citrus.
So pretty! So good!
A nice combo of fruit. For me that was the max amount of grapedruit I would choose but it was quite tasty.
love it! the mint was a great idea. A very nice touch.
Loved this salad. I didnโt have grapefruit so I added an orange. We had this for breakfast with some almond milk yogurt. Yummy!
Yummy! I love fruit salad and adding the juice, syrup and mint to change things up was really nice. I made 4 servings, but cut back on the juice and syrup.
I feel like every day I say, โThis is my new favorite salad!โ But itโs always for completely different reasons. Since we got the challenge recipes, Iโve made this Bright Berry Salad 3 times and it never disappoints. Iโve served it over oatmeal (shown here), over yogurt, and I just made a batch of chia pudding to have with the leftovers for breakfast tomorrow. I LOVE the leftovers because the juices get a little syrupy and even more delicious as the salad sits.
Love the flavor of the grapefruit combined with the berries, and the mint adds a nice touch!
