Coconut Milk Smoothie Ingredients
This yummy smoothie only has four ingredients! Super easy to blend and enjoy:
- Spinach: A powerhouse leafy green that provides all the nutrients without the ‘green’ aftertaste. You can also learn to freeze spinach for easy smoothie prep.
- Coconut Milk: This rich and creamy dairy-free milk provides healthy fat to help your body process the natural fruit sugars.
- Peaches: The highlight of this smoothie is enhanced by the orange and complimented well with the creamy coconut milk. Buy fresh and freeze yourself, or buy frozen for peak ripeness, perfect for making frozen meal prep smoothie packs to save time during the week.
- Orange: This provides a subtle citrus note without overpowering the smoothie.

Easy Ingredient Swaps
While this coconut milk smoothie recipe only has four ingredients, you can easily swap them for what you have on hand. If peaches are hard to come by, use nectarines. They have a similar flavor and texture. You can also swap in any stone fruit (apricots are another great one).
Use the leafy green vegetables of your choice, or start with 1/4 cup if you’re new to green smoothies. If you can’t use coconut milk then use oat or cashew milk to keep the cream factor.
While this smoothie is lower in natural sugar, adding a homemade protein powder with both protein and healthy fat can help your body process that sugar. And if you want extra blending tips, check out my guide on how to make a smoothie for the best texture and flavor every time.
Canned vs Carton Coconut Milk
I used to specify which kind of coconut milk I used in every recipe until the Simple Green Smoothies community let me know that everyone uses a different kind! Most coconut milk recipes now leave it up to you to decide what kind you want to use.
Carton coconut milk can be found in shelf-stable cartons or in the refrigerated section. It typically has fewer ingredients than its canned cousin, as well as less fat. Meanwhile, canned coconut milk is often found in the baking or international aisle. When you open it, you’ll typically find a thick layer of cream at the top and a thin liquid at the bottom.
Pro tip: Give that can a good shake before opening to thoroughly mix the cream and liquid, making it easier to pour.
Canned coconut milk almost always has some kind of thickener or preservative in it. My team tested all the canned and carton coconut milk brands we could find in stores to give you the best of the best (and the worst of the worst!). As always, when buying milk, check the ingredients! You can also make coconut milk at home for the cleanest option.

More Smoothies with Coconut Milk
Coconut milk is an easy way to make smoothies creamy and satisfying without overpowering the fruit. It pairs especially well with fresh and frozen fruit, adding richness while letting flavors like peach, cherry, and banana shine. Here are a few of my favorite fruit smoothies and green smoothies made with coconut milk:
- Spinach Banana Smoothie: A delightful, creamy smoothie.
- Mango Kale Smoothie: The creamiest tropical smoothie for summer.
- Tropical Pineapple Banana Smoothie: Creamy and refreshing, like a mini vacation in a glass.
- Coconut Raspberry Smoothie: Delicious and insanely nutritious.

Notes
- Any variety of peaches or nectarines is fine. Other stone fruits like apricots, plums and cherries can also be used if peaches aren’t available.
- Use at least one frozen fruit to make a refreshingly cool smoothie.
- Swap the leafy greens of your choice to replace the spinach.
- Adding a plant-based protein powder with protein and healthy fat can help lower the natural sugar in this smoothie recipe.
- Use canned coconut milk for a super creamy, milkshake-like texture. Use carton coconut milk to cut back on the healthy fat and for a thinner yet still creamy consistency.
- For the smoothest results, using high-powered smoothie blenders makes everything blend up silky and lump-free.

Yes! While it alters the taste, coconut milk is a great plant milk swap in almost any smoothie. If you’re using it in a smoothie that originally had a different plant milk base, carton coconut milk is the easiest 1-to-1 swap.
It depends. If you’re looking for an energy boost, coconut water is a great natural electrolyte. If you want something with healthy fat, then opt for coconut milk (canned or carton).
Yes. Carton coconut milk is a light creamy base for a smoothie. Canned coconut milk is a super creamy base. You may need to use more than the recipe calls for if you’re using it as an ingredient swap.

I don’t like coconut milk, so I used water instead. I’m sure my smoothie did not have the creamy factor that the milk would have given it. But, the peach and orange flavors were great together! I added a couple of tablespoons of unsweetened flaked coconut. That enhanced the flavor also! Yummy!
Day 8 of Smoothie Challenge – Coconut Peach. This was very creamy and delicious! I’ll try this one again with even more peach ! @simplegreenamoothies #simplegreensmoothies
I subbed apricots for peaches since they are fresh picking off the tree right now. This was creamy for sure and I added double the vanilla but was still a little boring to drink.
Enjoyed the coconut peach smoothie recipe tasted like a healthier version of a creamsicle yummy
I couldn’t taste peaches much in this smoothie. It tasted like coconut with sourness from frozen peaches…I think peaches that I used didn’t have good flavor. Probably, it would be different if I had sweet peaches…I had to add some frozen bananas.
This was good, but it wasn’t my favorite, possibly because I used frozen peaches, which weren’t as sweet-tart as fresh ones would’ve been. Because my peaches didn’t have that pop of flavor (even with the orange added), I think the coconut milk made it more mellow than I’m used to, since I mostly use water in all of my green smoothies. Overall, though, I can’t wait to try this again with fresh peaches.
My smoothie didn’t taste very peachy, but I’m guessing that’s due to the fact that I used dairy milk instead of coconut milk. I’d probably try it with water next time.
This one wasn’t very flavorful, but then again, I had to use frozen peaches. I’m sure juicy ripe peaches would improve the flavor significantly! I added some vanilla and coconut smoothie cubes to give it a little boost.
This tasted mostly of coconut to me. My peaches from the farmer’s market were not very good, so I also put in a couple of apricots. May try again with better peaches. Still creamy goodness with so so peaches.
LOOOVED this one! I really like the creaminess of coconut milk in this. I wasn’t sure how the peach and orange would go together….but I was very pleasantly surprised 🙂
The flavor for this one was bland. Definitely just ok in my book.
I made it to day 8 so pumped! I am feeling good too and I love this Coconut Peach smoothie. I used frozen peaches which made the smoothie more creamy and cold. I used canned coconut milk I may have used a little too much because my smoothie was very coconutty. I love coconut so I did not mind it all.
So yummy! So rich on flavor! Definitely a good one to repeat during the Summer
I liked this one. I ripen my peaches in a paper bag. Instead of coconut milk. I used frozen coconut pieces, and almond milK. I also added my daily banana. It was sooooo good.
Very delicious! I opted for coconut water instead of milk (personal preference) and added a banana. Very tropical.
Really smooth and dreamy.
Nice smoothie and not too sweet. I added lemon, but I like smoothies with a bit of a kick.
This smoothie is really creamy but I have to admit not my favorite. I added chia seed, flaxseed and hemp hearts.
Very nice. I love peaches so combined with the orange and coconut mile made this smoothie delightful. I added flaxseed, chia seed, whole beet powder, and cacao nibs. I liked this smoothie a lot but liked the summer melon, pineapple mint, and tropical kale better.
Refreshing. Will make and drink again and again!
