Healthy Mango Orange Smoothie

Published on 1.5.2021 by Jen Hansard

RECIPE CARD LEAVE REVIEW
Green smoothie recipe with mango

Take your tastebuds on a tropical journey with this mango orange smoothie. It's no secret that I love mango... I could blend it in every smoothie. It's one of the stars of our fool-proof Beginner's Luck Smoothie. This mango orange smoothie swaps pineapple for an orange and plain water for coconut water. With another easy winner, it might be hard to choose the fav between these two smoothies...

Mango orange smoothie ingredients

This smoothie is a tropical oasis of flavor + nutrition. It's got over 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, as well as a great boost of fiber. Make sure to leave as much of the white pithe of the orange as you can when peeling... that's where the fiber and many nutrients are located in an orange.

Lower sugar options

If the natural sugar in this smoothie is a little high for you, then I've got some great swap options. Swap out ½ banana for ¼ avocado. Avocado helps keep the smoothie creamy + add in healthy fat, while lowering the sugar level. Peaches are a great swap for the mango in this mango orange smoothie, since they have a lower glycemic index (sugar level). Green smoothies are easily customized to your liking, so don't be afraid to make some swaps or test new ingredients to get the perfect combo for your tastebuds + nutritional needs.

Coconut water is nature's gatorade

If you need some extra electrolytes in your diet, then this mango orange smoothie is for you! Studies show that coconut water does a great job replacing electrolytes after a long workout. I often take coconut water with me, or add it to my post workout smoothie. I want to make sure I'm refueling my body the right way, especially after a long run.

If you want to use this mango orange smoothie as a post-workout drink, then don't forget to boost it with Protein Smoothie Boost. This plant based, all organic powder will boost your smoothie by 10 grams of protein!

Mango orange smoothie liquid swaps

If coconut water just isn't your thing, or you don't have any on hand, then no worries! Here's what I recommend as a liquid base for this mango orange smoothie:

  • Green tea
  • Water
  • Coconut milk in the refrigerated carton (not canned... it would be too thick for this recipe!)

No matter which base you choose, this smoothie will still give you amazing health benefits, as well as a great energy boost!

This healthy mango orange smoothie includes spinach, which adds a ton of nutrients and doesn't affect the mango orange flavor. Coconut water is a great way to help replenish lost electrolytes post run. It’s often referred to as “nature’s gatorade” and pairs nicely with tropical fruits. This smoothie is also known as Mango Orange Madness.

I can't wait to try all of these! I also add ginger to my smoothies that have lighter colored fruit like pineapple peaches and mangoes. I use a LOT of blueberries! Did you know you can even freeze your spinach? Just freeze it in the container it comes in. I get the big plastic tubs. I like to enhance my smoothie with chia and goji berries. Super healthy

This was a great smoothie! I made it on the last day of the challenge and added the alkaline veggie booster cubes so I could use fresh orange and mango (my preferred for these two fruits). I also added SGS protein smoothie booster. I wish I had read the swap about avocado for banana before I made the smoothie! Next time I will do that too.

Loved this one! I’ve never used coconut water in a smoothie and frankly never liked it on its own. This is a wonderful combination of flavours. I used a whole banana and a bit more than half a cup
of mangos and a splash of orange juice

The Mango Orange Smoothie became a Pineapple Orange Smoothie for me (mango seems to be causing problems for me so I substituted pineapple). The coconut water was a great choice for the liquid. I’m finding that I prefer water or coconut water over almond or coconut milk. I also added a scoop of protein powder. I’m becoming used to and maybe even a bit fond of the bright green color!

Mango Orange - substitution alert - I used papaya instead of orange. This one was yummy. I am definitely gravitating to the smoothies with the added creaminess from bananas. This had a nice flavor with no one flavor outdoing another. Delicious, one worth repeating if there weren't so many more to try.

Really tasty! I usually gravitate towards smoothie recipes with pineapple, but I'm finding that I really like the orange-y ones, too, especially when I leave at least a little peel on the oranges.

Mangos are not my favorite, and some smoothies disguise them well. However this one did not. 🙁 It won't be on my regular rotation. Chugged it down. For someone that likes mangos give it a try.

Very tasty and vibrant. I used coconut milk, refrigerated carton ( only 45 calories per cup), as my store had no coconut water. I used 62 grams of banana, about 60 grams of orange and about 64 grams of mango plus 1Tablespoon of chia seeds. I'll have to try adding some of my favorites to a future smoothie ( fresh mint leaves and flat leaf parsley) a refreshing combination.
