Take your tastebuds on a tropical journey with this mango orange smoothie. It's no secret that I love mango... I could blend it in every smoothie. It's one of the stars of our fool-proof Beginner's Luck Smoothie. This mango orange smoothie swaps pineapple for an orange and plain water for coconut water. With another easy winner, it might be hard to choose the fav between these two smoothies...
Mango orange smoothie ingredients
This smoothie is a tropical oasis of flavor + nutrition. It's got over 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, as well as a great boost of fiber. Make sure to leave as much of the white pithe of the orange as you can when peeling... that's where the fiber and many nutrients are located in an orange.
Lower sugar options
If the natural sugar in this smoothie is a little high for you, then I've got some great swap options. Swap out ½ banana for ¼ avocado. Avocado helps keep the smoothie creamy + add in healthy fat, while lowering the sugar level. Peaches are a great swap for the mango in this mango orange smoothie, since they have a lower glycemic index (sugar level). Green smoothies are easily customized to your liking, so don't be afraid to make some swaps or test new ingredients to get the perfect combo for your tastebuds + nutritional needs.
Coconut water is nature's gatorade
If you need some extra electrolytes in your diet, then this mango orange smoothie is for you! Studies show that coconut water does a great job replacing electrolytes after a long workout. I often take coconut water with me, or add it to my post workout smoothie. I want to make sure I'm refueling my body the right way, especially after a long run.
If you want to use this mango orange smoothie as a post-workout drink, then don't forget to boost it with Protein Smoothie Boost. This plant based, all organic powder will boost your smoothie by 10 grams of protein!
Mango orange smoothie liquid swaps
If coconut water just isn't your thing, or you don't have any on hand, then no worries! Here's what I recommend as a liquid base for this mango orange smoothie:
- Green tea
- Water
- Coconut milk in the refrigerated carton (not canned... it would be too thick for this recipe!)
No matter which base you choose, this smoothie will still give you amazing health benefits, as well as a great energy boost!

Best recipe. Love it

I can't wait to try all of these! I also add ginger to my smoothies that have lighter colored fruit like pineapple peaches and mangoes. I use a LOT of blueberries! Did you know you can even freeze your spinach? Just freeze it in the container it comes in. I get the big plastic tubs. I like to enhance my smoothie with chia and goji berries. Super healthy
Emma
Kids love this one! Great way to get some greens into them! Not complicated with too many fancy ingredients, quick and simple.
Caroline Hileman
Not a fan of coconut water. Good taste, but next time I'll either use almond milk or water
Simple Green Smoothies
Coconut water does have a diff taste. Feel free to swap out for another unsweetened liquid of your choice.
Laura Perkins
This was a very tasty smoothie! My kids requested another serving.
Alannah
This one was so refreshing. I love the orange and mango together! Coconut water was new for me to use in a smoothie and I’ll be using it a lot more. Loved it!
Amy B
Lots of topical flavor

This was a great smoothie! I made it on the last day of the challenge and added the alkaline veggie booster cubes so I could use fresh orange and mango (my preferred for these two fruits). I also added SGS protein smoothie booster. I wish I had read the swap about avocado for banana before I made the smoothie! Next time I will do that too.
Florence
Loved this one! I’ve never used coconut water in a smoothie and frankly never liked it on its own. This is a wonderful combination of flavours. I used a whole banana and a bit more than half a cup
of mangos and a splash of orange juice
Grace
Loved the orange flavour shining through on this one! The citrus is very refreshing.

Love me some good coconut water! Love that the flavor comes through. Not the best smoothie I've ever had but pretty good.
Dory
Cannot go wrong with mango! I did not have coconut water, so used just regular water instead. I also added some protein powder and flax seeds. Halfway through the challenge and can’t wait for the next five!
Cynthia
This is one of my favorite recipes! Yummy!!
Lesley R
Really enjoyed this one, love the coconut water for electrolytes... Will probably pack this one for a snack between my work shifts since I have a very active/physical job
Sabrina Schroeder
Good but not the best. I did not use protein powder that might help.
Stephanie H
This was another good recipe but I added avocado and hemp seeds for a meal replacement. It came out so creamy.
Kathi
Very refreshing!

Day 5 and I think may favorite.....I also added some protein powder and made it a meal replacement

Nice ripe mango and orange taste comes through well but not over powering.
Very good way to start the day.
Angie Reyes

Amanda Fitzsimmons
This was is great! I love the banana and orange together. I added pineapple and avocado. I will surely make this one again!
Amydav
A favorite! Nice and light. I could see turning this into a refreshing popsicle.
Kim Thompson
The Mango Orange Smoothie became a Pineapple Orange Smoothie for me (mango seems to be causing problems for me so I substituted pineapple). The coconut water was a great choice for the liquid. I’m finding that I prefer water or coconut water over almond or coconut milk. I also added a scoop of protein powder. I’m becoming used to and maybe even a bit fond of the bright green color!
Deborah
Mango Orange - substitution alert - I used papaya instead of orange. This one was yummy. I am definitely gravitating to the smoothies with the added creaminess from bananas. This had a nice flavor with no one flavor outdoing another. Delicious, one worth repeating if there weren't so many more to try.
Shelby Foreman
This tropical tasting smoothie is delicious! 10/10 recommend!!
Ren
This is my favorite so far. I kept the peel on the orange for an extra citrusy flavor. Really good!
Courtney
Really tasty! I usually gravitate towards smoothie recipes with pineapple, but I'm finding that I really like the orange-y ones, too, especially when I leave at least a little peel on the oranges.
Suzie
Mangos are not my favorite, and some smoothies disguise them well. However this one did not. 🙁 It won't be on my regular rotation. Chugged it down. For someone that likes mangos give it a try.

Day 5 - Simple Green Smoothie Challenge - Love this Smoothie I added Maca Powder to mine. This is a keeper and make again and again.
Sloane Grey
Another Winner!!! I added coconut milk smoothie cubes, and this one made me feel like I was on a beach somewhere with fresh mango and coconut! It was also very energizing!
Erin
This was a great post-workout boost this morning! Loved the strong mango taste and slight tang from the coconut water.
Maria Barrios
GREAT! LOVED IT!
Eve
I love this smoothie! Oranges are one of my “go to” smoothie ingredients. I love how vibrant and fresh this is.
Shari Guymon
Very tasty and vibrant. I used coconut milk, refrigerated carton ( only 45 calories per cup), as my store had no coconut water. I used 62 grams of banana, about 60 grams of orange and about 64 grams of mango plus 1Tablespoon of chia seeds. I'll have to try adding some of my favorites to a future smoothie ( fresh mint leaves and flat leaf parsley) a refreshing combination.
Mindy
Not my favorite, but I love what coconut water does to the flavor of smoothies! ❤️
Colleen
I do enjoy this smoothie. Orange is not my favorite smoothie ingredient, but I think it works well with the mango in this one.
Lauren
I liked the orange mango combo, this is a smoothie I make on my own quite often.
Loren
Yum yummy! Instead of mango I used a frozen mix that is mostly peach with a tiny bit of mango left. Still very good. Added carrot, celery, some turmeric ginger smoothie cubes, and pasteurized egg whites to increase the protein. It’s a winner!
Dora Suarez
LOVE THIS, I was out of coconut water but had a blend of Almond/Coconut Milk so substituted with that. I also added extra spinach and vanilla whey protein. So delicious and refreshing, it tasted like a milkshake.
Kathleen
Made as directed.... Delicious! Then added extra spinach, protein powder and hemp hearts to make it a meal.
Susan
Very tropical! Yummy n I added extra pineapple. Fulfilling❤️
