Take your tastebuds on a tropical journey with this mango orange smoothie. It’s no secret that I love mango… I could blend it in every smoothie. It’s one of the stars of our fool-proof Best Green Smoothie.

This mango orange smoothie swaps pineapple for an orange and plain water for coconut water. With another easy winner, it might be hard to choose the fav between these two smoothies…

Mango Orange Smoothie Ingredients

This smoothie is a tropical oasis of flavor + nutrition. It’s got over 100% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C, as well as a great boost of fiber. Make sure to leave as much of the white pithe of the orange as you can when peeling… that’s where the fiber and many nutrients are located in an orange.

Lower sugar options

If the natural fruit sugar in this smoothie is a little high for you, then I’ve got some great swap options. Swap out 1/2 banana for 1/4 avocado. Avocado helps keep the smoothie creamy + add in healthy fat, while lowering the sugar level.

Peaches are a great swap for the mango in this mango orange smoothie, since they have a lower glycemic index (sugar level). Green smoothies are easily customized to your liking, so don’t be afraid to make some swaps or test new ingredients to get the perfect combo for your tastebuds + nutritional needs.

Coconut Water is Nature’s Gatorade

If you need some extra electrolytes in your diet, then this mango orange smoothie is for you! Studies show that coconut water does a great job replacing electrolytes after a long workout. I often take coconut water with me, or add it to my post workout smoothie. I want to make sure I’m refueling my body the right way, especially after a long run.

If you want to use this mango orange smoothie as a post-workout drink, then don’t forget to boost it with my homemade protein powder recipe. This plant-based, all organic powder will boost your smoothie by 10 grams of protein!

Mango Orange Smoothie Swaps

If coconut water just isn’t your thing, or you don’t have any on hand, then no worries! Here’s what I recommend as a liquid base for this mango orange smoothie:

  • Green tea
  • Water
  • Coconut milk in the refrigerated carton (not canned… it would be too thick for this recipe!)

No matter which base you choose, this smoothie will still give you amazing health benefits, as well as a great energy boost!

Healthy Mango Orange Smoothie

This healthy mango orange smoothie includes spinach, which adds a ton of nutrients and doesn’t affect the mango orange flavor. Coconut water is a great way to help replenish lost electrolytes post run. Itโ€™s often referred to as โ€œnatureโ€™s gatoradeโ€ and pairs nicely with tropical fruits. This smoothie is also known as Mango Orange Madness.

I think this smoothie is deceptive. Itโ€™s starts out a bit flavorless, but then it hits you! Nicely done!

  2. Another awesome recipe. Tropical and refreshing. My toddler asked for more and that is a win! I added flaxseed and protein to mine. Eating more protein to my diet per doctor orders. also trying to increase my Omega 3 which I am very low in.

It was so easy to make! It tasted great, but itโ€™s the first green smoothie Iโ€™ve made. I might like another one even more! My husband wants to do the 10 day challenge with me! He has type 2 diabetes, and Iโ€™ve been looking at the carb count. Do you think the benefits outway the carbs?

    1. Hi Anne! You can reduce the amount of natural sugars in your smoothies by flipping the ratio of leafy greens and fruit. You can also use low-glycemic fruits in your smoothies. I encourage your husband to speak with his doctor if he has any questions regarding how the smoothies will affect him.

Delicious and smooth – can’t taste the spinach at all which almost doesn’t feel like drinking a green smoothie.

Loved this smoothie. I was skeptical when I saw coconut water in the ingredient list this week, as I do not like coconut, but I gave it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that there was no strong coconut flavor!
