5 Steps to a Clean Pantry

Have you ever gone to start dinner, and search 3 places before you could find just one of the ingredients?

Dinner can quickly turn into a scavenger hunt… and for most of us, the pantry is to blame.

I didn’t have a clear system in our cabinets, so food just got stacked randomly and chaotically. I would go grocery shopping for an item only to find out when I got home that I already had it – I just couldn’t find it!

Or sometimes I would open the cupboard to get some trail mix or a granola bar, but would get weak in the knees when a bag of fruit snacks was staring me in the face. It’s hard to say “no” to Annie’s bunny snacks, right?

The easiest way to beat the I-can’t-find-the-healthy-food problem: Clean out your cupboards!

A Clean Pantry is a Healthy Pantry

Once I organized and purged my pantry, cooking has been less of a struggle. I know exactly where things are, how much I have of it and I’m not tempted by the “other stuff.” I keep the healthy items close by and easily accessible because I want them to be the first choice.

Now, this doesn’t mean I won’t ever have a piece of chocolate or some chips, but the daily battle of choosing healthy when I was staring at crap is gone!

That’s why we suggest cleaning out your cupboards, pantries and cabinets before starting any of our cleanses and meal plans. We want to help you get the best head start possible before the hard work of changing your relationship with food and we believe clearing out the crap is the best way to do it.

So, here’s what I like to do every so often to whip my pantry back in shape:
