30 Day Green Smoothie Challenge Begins!

Congratulations! A new year and a new you has arrived. Are you excited to make green smoothies a part of your everyday life? First step, make sure you signed up for The Challenge, where we send a weekly email telling you all about it.

Our goal is to have you add more plant-based foods to your diet, by making at least one green smoothie a day packed with leafy green vegetables and fruits. In order to do that, we ask you to replace at least one meal a day with a green smoothie. If you want to take it a step further, try drinking two green smoothies a day. This is not a restrictive diet, so feel free to eat regular meals during the challenge.

Read below to find out what to expect during the challenge and also answers to some of the FAQ’s regarding the green smoothie challenge.

Simple Green Smoothies Challenge details:

We want you to commit to drinking at least one green smoothie a day. It can be the breakfast of champions, the healthy fast-food lunch or even the lean and mean dinner. It’s up to you! We recommend you start with the Beginner’s Luck smoothie. If you haven’t signed up for the challenge, now is the time to do so! Click here to get started. If you wish to try other recipes during this time, feel free to try them out. Have some fun with this!

This is just the beginning!

The best part is this challenge is just the beginning. When you put more fruits and veggies in your body daily, you will transform your body and your mind. You will eat veggies you never ever liked. You will shed pounds without counting calories. You will feel happier and not so moody. And you will naturally start brainstorming on more healthy habits you can make in the new year. 2013 is our year, friends!

    I know I am late for the challenge, but I want to learn how to make Green Smoothies for wellness and weightloss benefits for my husband. If we happen to drop 15 – 20lbs, I am okay with that lol…..I know its late, but I am hoping to learn and catch the next challenge if possible.

    I am interested to know what others eat for mail meals. Can you have a smoothie for breakfast and lunch and then eat a main meal of say a small piece of steak with salad or stir fry veges. I love the smoothies for breakfast and/or lunch and dont feel the need to snack between them. I tried Tony Ferguson but the green smoothie is more economical and a lot healthier I would think. Wish I had seen this when it first started but better late than never.

      Hi Barb. Green smoothies definitely more filling and economical. For lunches and dinners, we recommend you stick with clean eating‚ unprocessed foods. Rather than a steak, what about chicken breast or salmon— much lighter and easier for your body to digest. I personally try to make healthy choices for dinner– like a salad, sautéed veggies, grilled fish, and hummus + fresh pita bread is also a favorite. I add tomatoes and kalamata olives to it and I’m in heaven. Hope that gives you some inspiration! I would love to hear what other people enjoy eating during the challenge.

    My wife and I just started the challenge this morning and she doesn’t care for the banana in the Beginner’s Luck smoothie. Can you suggest something to replace it?

      Hi Paul. Welcome to the challenge! Swap out the banana for more mango, peach, papaya or pear to sweeten it up. Or add an avocado to make it thick and creamy.

    I received your first email on January 4, to start the 30 day challenge but have not received any other emails. I have been drinking a a green smoothie since the challenge started but would love to get the other emails. Please let me know if I was deleted from your list. I’m really excited for this challenge.

      Hi Rebecca. We are sending out one email a week— and it airs on Fridays. Each challenge goes for a week and we give you the weekend to prep for it (with the shopping list and recipes). So tomorrow you should be getting email #2. :)

    hello- i have been emailing and IGing trying to request the beginners luck recipe. i did not see it in the welcome email. i did sign up a little late and planned to start today and go for 30 days but cant find the recipe- help please!

        Thanks. I signed up again. I had gotten the email to confirm and it had the 5 recipes and ebook-confirming again now. I improvised in the meantime and used spinash-tangerine-strawberry-banana with unsweetened coconut almond milk.

        Tasted pretty yummy-i had it with a had full of almonds and cashews.

    I just stumbled across this today! I think this is amazing already :)

    But quick question, I have a lot of allergies with some of the fruits like mango, pineapple, etc. what’s a good alternative? I wanna get on the beginners luck smoothie but sadly I can’t if there the magno and pineapple ):

      Hi Tiffany — feel free to swap it out with a fruit that you love and adore. :)

      You can double up another ingredient already in the smoothie. If something calls for 1 cup of something you just can’t eat, swap it with 1 cup of a fruit you can eat. Mixed berries and mixed fruit bags that are frozen are a great replacement ingredient.

    I am loving this challenge, I replace two meals with the beginners smoothie and I am feeling it, I was already doing green smoothie but was not challenged. I started on Jan. 2nd, I was soo excited I got on the scale on Jan.1st so I can keep up with any weight loss, when I woke up this morning Jan 4th I was already down 2.4 lbs I was soooo excited I am looking forwad to the next few weeks not Just for the weight loss but for a life time change in how I eat. Blessings to everyone doing this challenge It is great

    3 smoothies down! Love this challenge for 2 reasons: (1) I feel like when I have a green smoothie in the morning, even if the rest of my day goes down the drain, at least I will have had a few fruits and veggies so it’s not a total wash, and (2) I am hoping to stave off winter colds and blahs by having a green smoothie every day this month.
