What should I eat while drinking green smoothies?

Question: Am I supposed to just drink green smoothies the rest of my life?
Answer: No way!

Whether you are doing Simple 7 or not, the goal is never to only drink green smoothies—we want you to eat normal meals, too! Having one green smoothie a day without even changing your regular diet moves you in the right direction towards healthy eating. That’s what the green smoothie lifestyle is all about!

However, if you’re looking for a little more guidance when it comes to what else you should be eating while you’re gulping the greens, we suggest you eat real food that is free of processed sugars and ingredients.

A general rule for us: “If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it.”

We love replacing one meal a day with a green smoothie or having it as a snack, but you can bump it up to two meal replacements if you’d like! When drinking a green smoothie as a meal replacement, make sure to add a protein boost (plant-based protein powder, nut milk, nut butter) and healthy fats (avocado, coconut oil) to complete your meal. Or, you can snack on some nuts or a hard-boiled egg 30-60 minutes after you drink your green smoothie. This will keep you satisfied throughout the day.

      Hi Pat,

      You definitely can! I love making popcorn on the stovetop with grapeseed oil and sea salt! But if you join one of our cleanses, either Fresh Start 21 or Thrive, we suggest avoiding popcorn during those.

    So if i have spinich 2glasses of water bananna and kiwi blended twice a day and 1 healthy meal this will help with weight loss?? Confused but intrested in this..

    So, I’ve asked this a couple different times (and ways) and I’ve read your responses, but am still a little confused:

    Do you recommend drinking your whole 32-40 ounce smoothie in one day, every day? I realize we don’t have to, and there’s no hard and fast rules, but with each recipe making 2 recipes, I prefer to make my life easy and drink the full 40 oz. as breakfast and lunch.

    I know you have said Jadah drinks 16 oz. for breakfast, as a meal replacement, but does she drink the rest later, as a snack, regularly Or does she save the remainder for another day? When you, Jen, drink yours as a lunch or snack, do you drink the rest later, or save it for the next day? I’m planning to drink my whole recipe (32-40 oz.) as 2 meal replacements (adding protein powder and a small snack if needed) each day…thanks in advance for your reply 🙂

    Im not sure I understand this I made my first smoothie today and got like 40 oz am I supposed to drink all of this in one day or just a glass sooo confused please help thanks in advance

      Thanks for the comment. Our smoothie recipes make about 4-5 cups (32oz – 40oz). Jadah drinks at least 2 cups (16 oz) everyday in the morning as a breakfast meal replacement. Jen drinks hers for lunch or sometimes as a mid morning snack Since green smoothies are full of fiber, they keep us both full for a while. If either of us needs afternoon pick-me-ups, we have been known to make another green smoothie later in the day instead of drinking a caffeinated beverage.

    HI girls, I’m looking into doing the 30 days thing but I have a problem with measuring my greens. How do I know if its a cup or not . Do I pack it all down not sure.
