Almonds are my go-to snack since they provide a quick boost of healthy fats, protein and fiber. I often take them on long runs, into the Grand Canyon, and you can probably find some floating around my purse in case of an emergency. This almond smoothie recipe was a no-brainer. Almonds and almond milk combined with bananas and strawberries quickly become a filling and delicious breakfast.
How to Make an Almond Smoothie
Get ready for the world's healthiest fast food- a smoothie. In one easy step, you've got a meal that is filling, full of great nutrients and tastes delicious.
- Blend all ingredients until smooth.
- Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!
Make sure at least one of your fruits is frozen to produce a refreshingly cool smoothie. And if you just can't handle a smoothie without leafy greens then toss 'em in!
Almond Smoothie FAQs
Yes! Adding in raw almonds, almond milk, or almond meal to your next smoothie will give you fiber and a healthy fat boost.
Only if you don't like almond milk. It's a delicious, plant-based option that easily blends with a variety of fruits and veggies. Almond milk adds in good nutrients as well as works as a natural thickener.
They can be! If you've got a high-powered blender, then you can add pretty much any raw nut to a smoothie and enjoy its benefits. If your blender isn't Vitamix-grade, then soak the nuts for four hours before blending to soften.
Easy Recipe Swaps
Swap in one serving of your favorite plant protein powder for chia seeds. The cinnamon honestly makes this smoothie next level. Omit it if cinnamon isn't your thing. While this is called an almond smoothie, there is no judgment if you use a different plant milk. Cashew or oat would work great!
If the natural sugar is a bit too much for you then swap out ½ of the banana for ¼ cup frozen cauliflower. Swap the 2 tbsps of almonds for the nut or seed of your choice.
Benefits of Almonds
Almonds are a pretty impressive nut. One ounce holds 3.5 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein and 14 grams of fat as well as large amounts of the recommended daily value of vitamin E, manganese and magnesium.
They also contain large amounts of antioxidants, which our bodies use to fight inflammation and cancer.
Because almonds are high in fat, protein and fiber, they can help lower blood sugar. Grab a handful for your next snack and soak in the benefits.
I use both almonds and almond milk in my almond smoothie recipe to increase all the goodness going into my body.
Choosing the Right Milk
You can either buy or make almond milk, and both are great options!
Store-bought almond milk: There are so many brands to choose from when buying almond milk. I love the variety and accessibility of plant-based milk today! Yet ALWAYS read the labels (even of your favorite brand!) to make sure companies aren't trying to slip weird ingredients into your milk.
Every year Simple Green Smoothies searches all the grocery stores in the Tampa Bay area for new and improved brands of almond milk, then we test them and rate. We do all the research for you!
Homemade almond milk: I love making my own plant milk. It's easy and I know exactly what goes into it. If you've never tried to make your own before, then try it! You might never go back to the store-bought stuff again.

This was my favorite smoothie from the recent 10-Day Challenge; it is indeed epic! I already made it again two days after the Challenge ended.
I finally made it back to your website to find the Cinnamon Date Smoothie recipe you said you had considered using in the Challenge. I will make it soon.
In the meantime, it gave me a chance to rate the Epic Almond Smoothie. Thank you for all of your wonderful recipes.

I forgot to review this one I think It has been my favorite so far. I will be making it much more often.
ZK
It was okay
Deb Karasinski
Loved this one. Very creamy and decadent
Randa
This one had a subtle nutty flavor that I enjoyed! Also I felt full all day
Lisa
This was really good, loved having the almonds in there to make it more filling and they blended in perfectly. I did reduce the banana by a little to keep it from being overpowering, but I might have to try it with the cauliflower suggestion next time.
Kelly
Love this smoothie!
I think it’s the hint of cinnamon that makes it feel like a dessert!
I also added a handful of spinach to boost my greens intake.
Naledi
It was a good smoothie. Not sure whether I would try it again though.
Kelly Murguia
By far my favorite smoothie! The cinnamon was a treat! Can’t wait to make this one again.
Angela
Just a few substitutions although a delicious recipe
Carmen Shrimplin
Yummy smoothie, this one is a keeper!
Janelle
My son liked it but I feel like all these smoothies have been more kid like in taste. Not for me this one

Day 5 — Drank it a day late.
This one is maybe my favorite this week for now. I could drink this Almond Smoothie everyday... and so quick and easy to make.
Erin
So fun trying this one! Interesting flavors and the cinnamon works with it.
DC
This smoothie wasn't what I would make again...I even cut down on the cinnamon! maybe next week will be better!
Susan
Got a day behind. Had this smoothie this morning. I added collagen and one scoop of my protein powder. I only used half of banana.
Susan
Got behind a day, but I’ll catch up today. Currently enjoying the epic almond smoothie with protein powder for breakfast. Skipped the maple syrup. Could have added more almond milk since the protein powder makes it a bit too thick for my preference.
Amanda Cusack
Definitely different from any smoothie I’ve had but tasty!
Chilly
Good
Cesanee
Tasted okay but not my favorite. Like that it had almonds and was different than your typical green smoothie.
Kristina
I liked this smoothie a lot. I added riced cauliflower bc I like to have vegetables in every smoothie.
Jackie
This smoothie was great. I personally like smoothies to be thicker and not runny so I cut the almond milk to less than half.
Frances Acheson
This was a fabulous smoothie. The ingredients all harmonized beautifully into a flavor all its own.
The richness and thickness was smooth and creamy, and felt like real whole dairy milk to me. I have not been able to drink dairy milk for 20 years, and I’ve never found anything as satisfying in any alternative milk products. It was an amazing surprise to experience the sensation of real milk for the first time in 2 decades.
We did not add protein powder to this smoothie, and we left out the honey. We figured it would have plenty of fiber and fats and nutty taste from the almonds, and the sweetness of the fruit would be all it needed.
All 3 family members loved this one. We will definitely make it again.
Traci
I'm glad I tried this as I have never put almonds In a smoothie!! But, not quite as sweet as I would have liked. Next time I will add a few more berries.
Sandra S
Delicious!!
Amy E
It was really good! But as a Strawberry Banana smoothie. I was looking forward to seeing how I was going to get a smoothie that tasted like almonds, but it didn't. Couldn't taste the cinnamon either.
Kelsey June
I really appreciate the level of sweetness in this creamy almond bliss (**cough, rebranding opportunity, cough, cough**). I chose not to add the honey and was once again pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed a non-green smoothie. I didn’t think I liked almonds very much, but obviously I just wasn’t using them appropriately! This really was super delicious. In fact, I drank it in the middle of making the dogs’ food for the next few weeks. I went to take a sip, only to realize shockingly that I had drank the whole thing already. It went down fast.
Nichole
LOVE IT!!!
Jennifer Leinhos
I never would have paired almonds with strawberries and cinnamon, but I really like this re pie. Great job!
Keita McLeod-Kary
I love how the flavors blend together in this one. It was hard not to gulp it down in one sitting because it was just so tasty. I didn't have almond milk so I used oat milk instead.
Kathy Kingcaid
OK today I had to modify this recipe. Instead of almond milk are used rice milk and rolled oats. I’m allergic to almonds so therefore I had to make this recipe using other stuff. It was quite helpful and I was able to enjoy my smoothie for today. It really helps you gave us a substitution guide. Smoothie was a little thin but I enjoyed it. thank you

This smoothie was so creamy and smooth! I love the simple blend of strawberries, bananas, nuts, and cinnamon! I even tossed in 2 dates that added just enough sweetness to this blend and oats to boost it up! This would be a nice breakfast smoothie choice for me!
June
Excellent smoothie. I make this frequently substituting ingredients depending on what is on hand. Today I added a tablespoon or so of oats, “protein boost”, spinach and substituted pecans for some of the almonds. I use this smoothie sometimes for dessert and will add cacao powder. Almonds naturally add a sweetness to any recipe.
June
This smoothie recipe contains my favorite ingredients. This time I did add some spinach. Delicious
Kimberly Hassur
Another good one. I added some rolled oats, collagen powder and berry protein powder. Also threw in some frozen spinach so the color wasn't very pretty but sure tasted good. Enjoyed every gulp.
Lori milazzo
Happy again! After the lemon disaster I began to worry. I had such high hopes for the perfect lemonade. BUT TODAY made it all better again. My daughter said “yum that’s just like a cinnamon roll” yes another keeper for the Milazzo family.
Leah Wilson
I made this with smoothie with coconut water instead of almond milk. I was delicious and still slightly creamy. I would have never thought of an almond smoothie being good until I tried this recipe.
Terry
I’ve had mixed feelings about using almond milk in my smoothies, but this smoothie was so delicious. I did not think that I would like it as much as I did. It was pleasantly sweet and creamy, although I wished it had been a little thicker. I could really taste the strawberry in this one and strawberry is one of my favorite flavors. The almond flavor really compliments the other flavors in the smoothie. I definitely will have to make this again.
Meagan Lee
This smoothie was very creamy (I also added frozen zucchini) but I do think it needs a new name. It tastes like a regular banana strawberry smoothie. By the name I would think I’d be drinking an almost overpowering almond flavor.
Wendy Pegues
Oh My, Today's Smoothie Was So Delicious And Creamy. All Of The Flavors Blended So Well Together. I Tasted The Almonds, The Strawberries And The Banana. With Every Sip Of My Smoothie I Wanted More . I Will Be Making This Again.
Crystal Rose
I found this tasty. However, next time I think I would make it without any sweetener as it is plenty sweet by itself and perhaps I would also add rolled oats. We really enjoyed the rolled oats the other day in the meal replacement smoothie.
Amanda
Delicious! The cinnamon was a great addition.
Tanya
I used raw crunchy almond butter since I couldn't rationalize spending extra money on almonds when I have 2 jars of this up in my cupboards. I also miscalculated and ran out if frozen strawberries (only had enough for 1/4 cup) so did 1/4 cup frozen strawberries and 1/4 cup raspberries. I held off on the honey, which I am glad cuz I really found this super sweet. It was pleasantly filling. The cinnamon was a perfect addition. I would definitely try it again.
Elizabeth Touhey
This is my first 5 review of this challenge. This smoothie tasted so good, it could easily be dessert. Super yummy. The ingredients all blended so well. But, I could still taste each ingredient (except the almonds).
Hope Thompson
This smoothie was such a treat, especially after yesterday’s sour pucker one. I added collagen and omitted the honey, as I found it to be sweet enough without adding it. I was surprised by how much I liked the flavor that cinnamon added to it. I love the health benefits of cinnamon, so this is a nice once to add to my repeats.
Pam M
Oh my goodness, this was gooooood, even though my brain knew there was cinnamon in it my tastebuds seemed surprised each time it happened because it didn't look like it would taste that way. Definitely one of my favourites.
Tina F.
Creamy, satisfying, delicious and filling.
Dana
This Epic Almond smoothie was yummy. So smooth and warming with the added cinnamon. I added almond nut butter instead of almonds along with a dash of nutmeg and deleted the honey. It was delicious and I my #2 favorite.
Danielle
When I first saw this recipe in the 10 day challenge list I couldn’t help but try it straight away. It was all I was hoping. So creamy. I didn’t add the honey but did add some flaxseed. Will definitely be making this one regularly. Love it !!
Bridgette
Another yummy smoothie! Reminded me a lot of the Day 2 Strawberry-Banana Smoothie. I even added in some cauliflower , and some spinach.
Randa kuziez
This one was rich and delicious!!
Latricia Jethrow
It a keeper! Love the cinnamon.
Idi
Delish!!! I had it for breakfast and had to make another for dinner.
Kimberly
Definitely a delicious go to smoothie to sip and enjoy at home or to go! It’s a creamy dreamy smoothie that you’ll be happy you made!

Day 5 - Epic Almond Smoothie
I had to add 1/4 cup more almond milk. I also added a scoop of vanilla protein powder.
I liked the creamy texture but would add a chocolate protein powder for more flavour.
Rochelle Brumfield
Honestly, I thought it was a little plain, not very flavorful. I will say that it is definitely a meal replacement type smoothie. So far so good day #5. Thanks!
Diana
Today's epic almond smoothie was good! Cinnamon add in was unexpected, but I enjoyed it
Ionela
Super yummy, this is a keeper!
Ronda W
My husband really liked this one. Drank it all. I think the honey made it the bomb for him. 😉 It was very good.
Elizabeth M
I usually try to make recipes as written for the first try, but I reduced the almond milk a bit and added water as I find almond milk a little rich in smoothies. The result was a rich and yummy smoothie. I'll make this again.
Dorée Trent
HONESTLY, I really wasn't looking forward to trying the 'Epic Almond Smoothie'. I am a citrus lover..... not so much into the Banana or Almond flavors. As a matter of I was so hesitant about trying it that I put it off all day, until 6:30 this evening!
Just after 6pm, I decided to put my 'big girl panties on' and make it! Resistingly, I added all the ingredients and hit the blend button. As I stood there starring at the drink, I felt like a kid, whose mother was about to make her take the worst tasting medicine in the world! For a moment, I even considered holding my nose while drinking it.... that always worked as a child.
So.... after reasoning with myself, and reminding myself that I'm an adult and should drink it like one.... I reached for the smoothie, put it to my lips, and took a drink. Then I took another, and another, until the drink was gone.
It was actually ..... GOOD!
To my utmost surprise, there was NO strong flavor of either the Banana, nor Almond! They both melded wonderfully with the Strawberries and the Cinnamon.
WOW! This is a subtle and delicious drink, and one that I will definitely drink again! I'd recommend a name change though, as the words "Epic Almond" had me running for the hills!
Jimmye
Really good flavor combo. Very refreshing.
I swapped the honey with 2 small pitted dates.
Karen Sturtz
I added spinach for the greens and reduced the cinnamon to 1/4 as I can’t do cinnamon - would def do again but without the cinnamon as my eyes wouldn’t stop watering!!
Anna
I liked the flavor of this smoothie. I didn't make it with the cinnamon this time, but plan on making again and will probably try the cinnamon then. It was good without it and I'm sure it will be good with it 😉
Diane
Absolutely delicious. Loved this smoothie especially the addition of cinnamon. Yum!! Will definitely be making again
Karen Kyain
Put lot of strawberries and it was still creamy.
Becky
This smoothie is so creamy and delicious!
Dawn
This was good and comforting. I may have added too much maple syrup as it was a bit sweet. I boosted with protein powder and collagen.
Kevin
Good but I will skip cinnamon next time.
Sharon V
It was delicious!
Judy
5/10
Like the cinnamon-just enough warmth. Looking forward to more of the ones that sneak in my veggies.
Angie
It was good. I like the almonds in there and will use this recipe in the future.
L. Williams
Delicious! My smoothie ended up being slushie; I used too much frozen fruit. I loved the slight cinnamon flavor in the background.
Kathryn Mullane
Tasty! Comforting! Did not use honey or maple syrup. Great flavor.
Holly
This was really good! So creamy. This one's going into my rotation.

Day 5 Epic Almond Smoothie
Wasn't sure what to expect, but really enjoyed it! What a nice blend of flavors.
