Ingredients You’ll Need

With just a few pantry staples, you can create a soothing, lightly spiced apple cider vinegar detox drink thatโ€™s as good for your body as it is for your taste buds. You probably already have these ingredients at home:

  • Raw honey: This golden, naturally sweet nectar not only balances the tanginess of the vinegar but also adds antioxidants and a touch of soothing comfort. Look for raw or unfiltered honey in the natural foods aisle.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Choose organic, raw, and unfiltered apple cider vinegar for the best flavor and health benefits. Youโ€™ll usually find it near the salad dressings or natural foods section.
  • Ground cinnamon: This warm, aromatic spice ties the whole drink together. A sprinkle of cinnamon helps mellow out the vinegarโ€™s acidity. Find it in the baking aisle, or for extra freshness, buy cinnamon sticks and grind them yourself at home.

Storage Tip

For best results, make your apple cider vinegar detox drink fresh, but you can also prepare it ahead of time. Store it in a sealed glass jar or bottle in the fridge for up to 2โ€“3 days. Give it a good shake before sipping, since the honey and cinnamon may settle at the bottom.

Easy Swaps and Add-Ins

This apple cider vinegar drink recipe is refreshing and effective as written, but you can also customize the flavor and benefits to suit your taste and health goals. Here are some easy ideas to try:

  • Sweetener swap: Not into honey? Try pure maple syrup, agave nectar, or a few drops of liquid stevia for a lighter, lower-calorie option.
  • Spice it up: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or fresh ginger for a warming kick and extra metabolism support.
  • Citrus twist: Squeeze in fresh lemon for a bright detox boost, or a splash of orange juice for a sweeter, tangy twist with extra vitamin C.
  • Herbal refresh: Fresh mint leaves add a cool, clean flavor, while rosemary gives an earthy, aromatic note for a more elevated sip.

  1. This is a beneficial blog on Apple Cider Vinegar and its benefits. You mentioned every aspect of it including recipes. I have been drinking this drink with honey for a long time. This writing is valuable to me. I could understand many things from this helpful blog. I have three stenting in my heart. How many doses should I drink? I also prefer organic products.

    1. Hi Shrea! So glad you loved this one! I’d suggest taking this in moderation, so not too many a day. I’d also consult your Dr. to be sure it’s the right fit for you!

    1. Hi Erin! We could all add a little ACV to our diets for sure. It can also be so hard to get down!! Cinnamon is such a great idea!

I am looking forward to try this recipe! I love that I can also use it as a substitute for buttermilk as well! Currently I have kinda ‘crappy’ ACV so I’m going to head out and get some good quality ACV. I think it will make a difference!!! Thank you!

  4. Is raw apple cider vinegar good for rash from sweating. I know itโ€™s good for athletes foot because I seen it work on a bad case..I use to own a small booklet you had but loan it out and never got it back. Do you still have these little booklets? I donโ€™t know how to answer email. Have tried.

    1. Hey there Rose! Apple cider vinegar can be helpful for all sorts of things, yet we don’t have any experience with regard to rash specifically. Def let us know if it works for you. We know email is difficult, yet that would be the best way for us to help further. When you have a moment, please reach out to our customer service team at hello@simplegreensmoothies.com for help with the booklet you’re looking for.

  5. Thanks for the great article! I have been wanting to learn more about ACV and this was very informative. I am excited to try the buttermilk option. I have family members with recently diagnosed dairy allergies and I hadnโ€™t found a good substitute. Iโ€™m also intrigued by your ACV tonic. I will need to give that a try too.

    1. Glad this was helpful to you, Jennifer! I’m looking forward to trying the buttermilk, also. And the tonic is great, definitely give that a try!

I couldn’t stand the smell of ACV… then I did your Thrive Summer Reset which uses a recipe very similar to the one here. That changed everything for me! When you water it down and add a splash of honeyโ€”ย it really is a delicious drink. PLUSโ€“ย I really do think it helped suppress my appetite, which helped me lose 5 pounds that week! So yeah, I don’t think AVC is hypeโ€”ย it’s legit.

    1. That’s awesome, Susan! So glad we could help you find a recipe that changed your view of ACV. Thanks for sharing your story! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. Very interesting article! Thanks for the breakdown on ACV! I see a lot of hair products now with ACV and was wondering why itโ€™s gained so much popularity! Thanks for all the insight, this was so informative! I also liked that you shared taking too much could lead to health problems and that it should be diluted if taken daily. Thanks for providing both sides – the good and the bad!

I find myself turning to ACV more and more as a helpful cleaner… And I LOVE that it can be used to make a quick buttermilk!

  9. 5 stars
Thanks for all the tips! This might fit in with a couple things you mentioned, but I drink about a tablespoon of ACV twice a day to help increase stomach acid. My nutritionist noted that a couple of tests I took suggest I have slightly low stomach acid, and taking ACV will help to break down what I eat (or something to that effect). Seems to be working great!
