Avocado Banana Smoothie Ingredients
- Water is a simple, underrated smoothie base. It keeps the flavor clean, light, and refreshing without overpowering the fruit.
- Avocado adds healthy fats that boost creaminess, helps you stay full, and improves vitamin absorption. Cut avocado like a pro with my guide.
- Banana brings natural sweetness and smooth texture that balances the greens. If you like thick smoothies, you can freeze bananas ahead of time.
- Mango adds extra creaminess, masks any “green” taste, and delivers vitamins A and C. For quick prep, check out my guide on how to cut mango.
- Protein powder: Adding about 20 grams of unflavored, homemade protein powder balances the fats from avocado and carbs from fruit. It helps keep you full, supports muscle recovery, and lets the smoothie’s natural flavors shine without added sugars or fillers.

- Add avocado, frozen mango, and banana, then blend again until thick and creamy.
- Adjust with more water if needed, taste, and add a squeeze of lemon or lime if desired.
- Add in protein powder and blend on low until thick and creamy to minimize aeration.
- Pour and enjoy right away for the best flavor and texture.

Feel free to experiment by adding other ingredients to this smoothie. Here’s a few I would suggest trying with this avocado banana smoothie recipe:
- Chia seeds: A tablespoon or two adds a boost of fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and protein. They have a mild flavor and thicken the smoothie slightly.
- Kale: Don’t be afraid to add more greens! Kale is a nutritional powerhouse with vitamins A, C, and K, as well as calcium and antioxidants. You can also check out my guide on learn how to freeze kale.
- Ginger: A small piece of fresh ginger adds a zesty kick and has anti-inflammatory properties.

Add more liquid, such as water, milk (dairy or non-dairy), or juice, a little at a time, and blend again until you reach your desired consistency.
Yes, as long as the avocado isn’t overly brown or mushy. A slightly soft avocado is fine for blending.
While the banana contributes sweetness and creaminess, you could try using mango, pear, or even a bit of honey or maple syrup for sweetness. The texture might be slightly different.
Yes, frozen avocado chunks are available and work well in smoothies. They also help make the smoothie colder and thicker. For busy mornings, you can include them in frozen meal prep smoothie packs so you always have ready-to-blend ingredients on hand.
Yes! The bananas and avocados lend a creaminess to the whole smoothie while boosting the fiber and adding some natural sweetness for a quick energy boost. Avocados are rich in heart-healthy monounsaturated fats, reducing cardiovascular disease risk. They’re also rich in potassium, essential for balancing blood pressure.
They sure do. Bananas and avocados blend into a creamy, subtly sweet mix, ideal for smoothies. The banana’s sweetness masks the avocado’s mild flavor, creating a delicious and nutritious combination.

Not one of my favorites. First time using protein powder in a smoothie and I found it a little gritty for my preference. Not much flavor.
You can always try this again without the protein powder. It is still very nutritious.
I was so impressed by the fruity taste! I love banana but that was all I could taste. I’m wondering if changing the balance of fruit would bring out more of the mango. I also liked how smooth it was, I didn’t end up adding the protein powder (which would have probably help fill me up as well as make it creamier).
Maybe you could up the mango and decrease the banana to see what you think.
I love this one! Sweet but not too sweet and so deliciously creamy.
Yay! So glad you liked this one!
This was yummy! It was creamy and sweet and filled me up.
Healthy smoothie for the win!
I would recommend this recipe and will be making it again!
Awesome! So yummy and nutritious.
I was skeptical at first when reading the ingredients. Went ahead and made the smoothie. It was delicious. My daughter, who almost never eats anything green, aked for more. Even her 16 month son liked it.
Looking forward to the rest of the smoothies this week.
That is amazing to get everyone drinking them, especially the 16 month old! Congrats.
This was way better than I thought it would be. The mango balances out the banana just right and it was so creamy!
So glad you enjoyed this one! So yummy!
Smoothie was good but a little to sweet for my taste.
Next time you could try halving the banana.
I was skeptical about the avocado, but I’m pleasantly surprised!
Avocados in a smoothie make it so creamy and delicious.
I usually shy away from smoothies that call for avocado, but I am glad I tried this one. It was simple, creamy, and delicious!
Avocados for the win!
Delicious smoothie. I am allergic to mango so I used strawberries instead. Very tasty
Way to be creative! This would be good with strawberries.
I used a persimmon instead of mango. Super yummy.
That sounds so tasty!
Quick and easy. I can’t eat bananas so I just omit the banana. The mango is sweet enough for me.
Way to make it your own!
Very tasty and creamy green smoothie. I think this could be a healthy one to make for my granddaughter that she would enjoy as well. I may try some of the variations next time.
So glad you are including your granddaughter. We can never start too young!
This smoothie was okay. The banana and avocado make it creamy. I don’t really taste the mango though.
Next time you could try upping the mango to see what you think.
Delicious! And filling too!
Woohoo! Thanks for the review.
Tastes great! I used red kale for greens as that is what I had. I also added coconut yogurt and only used 1/4 of a banana because I don’t like smoothies that are too sweet. The mango sweetness was enough for me.
So glad you made the smoothie to your liking.
Hard to beat the creaminess of this one. Really delicious on a cold day and the creaminess makes it feel less cold than other recipes. A nice hint of sweetness from the mango and banana.
Yes, this is a really creamy one. So glad you enjoyed it!
I enjoyed this smoothie. I wasn’t sure I would like having avacado in it but I did. I would make this again.
Once you try an avocado in your smoothie you can’t go back!
YES! Great smoothie, love added protein powder also.
So glad you enjoyed the smoothie!
