Turn a Fruit Smoothie into a Green Smoothie
Transforming fruit smoothies into green smoothies is super easy and the added health benefits don’t hurt.
Adding leafy green vegetables to a fruit smoothie provides extra nutrients to break down the natural sugar in fruit, which then allows your body to burn that energy slower + longer. That means you aren’t hungry an hour after downing this blueberry spinach smoothie!
You can take any healthy smoothie recipes you love and add 1 cup (or a handful) of spinach to them if they don’t already have leafy greens, and you won’t even taste the difference. Yet you can be proud of yourself for adding a whole cup of spinach to your body!
New to leafy greens? Start with 1/4 cup in this blueberry spinach smoothie, then work your way up to a full cup. You’ll be surprised at how quickly your tastebuds adapt to that leafy green goodness. For smooth, creamy results every time, see my guide on how to make a smoothie.

Ingredient Swaps
Smoothies are super versatile, especially ones with berries.
- Swap in pretty much any berry for the blueberries here or any low sugar fruits of your choice. I love Costco’s frozen mixed berries, and you can also make frozen meal prep smoothie packs for quick, grab-and-blend convenience.
- Any non-dairy milk works in place of the almond milk base. You might get a different taste + texture depending on what you use, yet you might find a new fav combo too!
- Looking for a non-banana substitute? Mango works great, has a little less sugar than banana, and you can find more ideas in my no-banana smoothies.

Finding the Best Almond Milk
There are so many almond milk products on the market right now! How do I know which one is best? My rawkstar team actually tested as many brands as we could find, to bring you our top almond milk brands.
Yet, did you know you can make almond milk at home, too? I’ve got a no-fail recipe, along with a few tips to help you make delicious homemade almond milk. Choosing your fav option only adds to the value of this blueberry smoothie.

Organic vs Non-Organic Smoothie Ingredients
While I try to buy organic ingredients for my smoothies, it’s not always possible or in the budget. So I use EWG’s dirty dozen list to know which produce should be organic if possible.
This guide provides the most up-to-date info on a variety of produce, so I know what I’m putting into my body, as well as feeding to my kids. Some ingredients for this blueberry spinach smoothie are on the dirty dozen list, so I make sure to buy the organic versions.

Notes
- You can swap blueberries for any berry you can find. I like to use pre-packaged frozen mixed berries to give it a strong robust flavor.
- Make sure to use at least 1 frozen fruit for a refreshingly cool smoothie.
- Swap almond milk with the plant milk of your choice, or swap with water.
- To lower the natural sugar in this recipe replace 1 banana with 1/4 avocado or 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower. Freeze bananas for later and learn how to cut avocado.
- The right smoothie blenders help make even the leafiest greens blend smoothly every time.

SO Delicious, I’m sharing it right now with my 5 year old granddaughter. She also enjoyed the popsicle from day 5 (that I pre-made last night, knowing she’d be with me today, for a bike ride). Her mom is working very hard to avoid artificial coloring in her food, so I’m happy to share these recipes with my daughter-in-law. thanks!
One of our favorites! I can’t do strawberries but raspberries substitute in great. This is a quick and easy way to get some good nutrition in the kids (and me!)
Blueberry is my least favourite fruit smoothie, however I found the taste was enjoyable and the smoothie very filling as a meal replacement
I think overall it has a great taste and is smooth! An easy smoothie to drink, but next time I think I might put a little bit more spinach in it because of how fruity it tasted to me.
The banana flavor combined with blueberries and strawberries was another winner! I added chia seeds for an extra power boost.
Another great smoothie.
This is a good recipe.
This was my favorite so far. Very good.
It was sweet and smooth. I loved it!
I’m usually not big on blueberries but this was a great combination. Very flavorful and bright.
This is Always my favorite!! But I added a Tablespoon of peanut butter instead of Protein Powder because I don’t have any. But I only add 1/2 of a full serving because of the added calories and fat PB has. But it’s always a good addition with most of my smoothie recipes.
This one is my favorite so far. So yummy! I used oat milk instead of almond milk. This will go on my daily smoothie list for sure.
This is good, but a bit bland. Adding some orange, or ginger to it to amp up the flavor would be better . I freeze everything because I love the coldness of a smoothie. The coconut milk makes it more creamy which I enjoy.
This is a classic. I go to this one time and time again because it is easy to remember and rarely disappoints. Absolutely delicious!
This recipe is so good the flavor of all the fruits is refreshing!
I love anything with strawberries and blueberries this was amazing!!
super easy and delicious! x
You can’t beat bananas and berries! This was a great, creamy smoothie that wasn’t too sweet. I like how it had a lot of nice, healthy spinach but you didn’t taste that. Definitely recommend!
I love the flavor of this. It’s also easier on the eye for the people in my house that are turned off by color.
This was good and quick.
Classic!
Very good! Had to use Kale in place of spinach & Oat milk & banana milk in place of almond milk due to the oxalates in spinach & almonds. Only had one banana for 3 of us so the banana milk filled in well. Added a tablespoon of flax seeds
