As I started making more smoothies, I found myself wandering the produce aisle thinking, Could I turn this into something tasty? This strawberry carrot smoothie came from one of those curious moments—and I’m proud of how delicious it turned out. If you’re looking to get more variety of fruits and veggies into your day (and love blending as much as I do), this one’s definitely worth a try.

Ingredients You’ll Need
All of the ingredients in this strawberry carrot smoothie are simple, plant-based whole foods you can feel really good about. Here’s what I’m blending:
- Carrot: Carrots add natural sweetness, beautiful color, and a subtle earthy depth that balances the fruit. Both raw and frozen carrots work well in this smoothie. If your blender isn’t very powerful, you can steam carrots before blending to soften. Either way, carrots will add natural sweetness and vibrant color to your smoothie.
- Strawberries: Sweet, juicy strawberries bring natural flavor and vibrant color to this smoothie. Fresh, in-season berries taste best, but frozen strawberries work beautifully too.
- Pineapple: This tropical fruit adds brightness and natural sweetness that ties everything together. Fresh pineapple from the produce section is amazing, but frozen pineapple chunks are convenient and give the smoothie a thick texture.
- Spinach: It’s the ultimate “sneaky veggie” ingredient (you can leave out, too). Look for baby spinach in the produce section. You can also check out my guide on how to freeze spinach to save for later use.
- Coconut water: Light, refreshing, and naturally hydrating, coconut water blends everything together without making the smoothie heavy. Look for it in the beverage aisle.

How to Make Strawberry Carrot Smoothie
If you’ve got five minutes and a blender, you’ve got this smoothie. The ingredients come together quickly to create a smooth, fruity blend with a subtle veggie boost. It’s an easy carrot smoothie recipe that’s perfect for smoothie lovers:
- Wash the spinach and strawberries thoroughly. Cut the end off the carrot and chop it into small pieces so it blends easily. If using fresh pineapple, cut pineapple into chunks.
- Place the coconut water in the blender first, followed by the spinach, strawberries, carrot, and pineapple. Adding the liquid first helps the blades move more freely.
- Start blending on low speed, then gradually increase to high. Blend for 45–60 seconds, or until the smoothie is completely smooth and creamy with no visible chunks.
- Pour the smoothie into a glass and enjoy right away for the best flavor and freshness.
Recipe Tips
- I used to peel carrots (like in these photos), but the peel holds extra nutrients—so now I wash and blend them whole. See my guide on how to make a smoothie for more blending tips.
- Add frozen immunity cubes to this smoothie to boost the Vitamin C even more!

Ingredient Swaps and Add-Ins
The more I drink smoothies with leafy greens, the more my body starts to crave other veggies. Here’s a couple swap ideas to make this blend your own:
- Swap spinach: You can replace spinach with another leafy green vegetables like kale. Carrot tops are perfectly edible, and would also make a great swap in this smoothie!
- Swap coconut water: You can use regular water, or a brewed herbal tea.
- Use other berries: Switch out those strawberries with another berry (raspberries would be my first choice!). If you want to keep the sugar low, you can use my low sugar fruits list.
- Swap pineapple: Mango is a great swap for the pineapple. For easy prep, check out my guides on how to cut mango and how to cut pineapple so your fruit blends evenly every time.
- Boost with seeds: Add a tablespoon of hemp hearts or flaxseed for extra staying power. As long as you’re using a high-powered blender, they’ll blend in smoothly without affecting the texture.

Helpful Tools
Notes
- Meal prep friendly: You can store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir well before drinking.
- Use frozen fruit: Add at least one frozen fruit (like strawberries or pineapple) to keep the smoothie cold and thick. If using all fresh ingredients, serve over ice for a chilled finish.
- Carrot tip: If you don’t have a high-speed blender, using steamed carrots makes it easier to blend, or you can also leave them raw if you have the right smoothie blenders.
- Make smoothie packs: Prep frozen meal prep smoothie packs by portioning spinach, strawberries, carrots, and pineapple into freezer bags. When ready to blend, just add coconut water and go.

Frozen carrots work just fine and can even make your smoothie colder and thicker. Just make sure they’re cut into small pieces so they blend easily. If your blender isn’t very powerful, letting them thaw for a few minutes first can help create a smoother texture.
The easiest way is to add more naturally sweet fruit like pineapple or strawberries. You can also toss in half a ripe banana for extra sweetness and creaminess or add your choice from these natural sweeteners. Since carrots already have natural sugars, using ripe, fresh ingredients makes a big difference.
This smoothie will keep in the fridge for up to 24 hours when stored in an airtight container. The ingredients may separate slightly, which is completely normal. Just shake or stir before drinking. For the best flavor and texture, it’s always best enjoyed fresh.
Not strongly. Carrots add a mild sweetness and subtle earthy flavor, but the strawberries and pineapple are the dominant tastes. Most people don’t even realize there’s carrot in it, they just notice the vibrant color and naturally sweet flavor.

not as tasty as some of the others, but drank it all up anyway! Nutrients galore!
Too much carrot.
Tastes great despite the colour! Also added lemon to this one. Never thought to add carrot to my smoothies!
This is my favorite! Nice balance- not too sweet.
Very good. I added unsweetened protein powder for a boost in protein and made it a meal replacement.
I thought this one would be more fruity, but tasted a little bland to me. I added a half a banana which gave it enough sweetness to make it ok. Also not a very pretty green color, but luckily tasted good in the end.
I have to admit I was not looking forward to the carrots, but it still tasted pretty good. Just takes some getting used to but my taste buds are complying 🙂 Day 8!
Wow, I’m surprised. I wasn’t sure how I was going to react to the addition of carrots. I was scared it was going to be lumpy but it wasn’t. I love this flavor profile. I’m giving this 4stars instead of 5 because my smoothie was to thick, 1/2c of liquid didn’t suffice, I had to modify so it was 1c of liquid. That said, I froze my carrots with the fruit as part of my smoothie prep, so not sure if left unfrozen if that would have accounted for the other 1/2c of liquid, I’m guessing so. Now I want to know what other flavor profiles/fruit combos carrots can go with.
Sooo good! Not too sweet but sweet enough to be yummy! My favorite of 10 day challenge…
I found it really tasty, although I’m pretty sure I added way more carrot than needed, so that was the main flavor.
I had a difficult time blending this one…the final result was soo thick for my liking. Maybe I need to make some adjustments.
This was good to know about raw vs cooked. I’ve done a raw diet and my body liked it at the time, but it wasn’t sustainable for my lifestyle.
Not too sure about today’s smoothie. I think it’s because my blender didn’t blend the carrot that well and everything was a bit chunky.
Used baby carrots and I subbed kale since I ran out of spinach. Very good, not overly sweet.
I like it with turmeric boost cubes
I followed this recipe as close as I could with the fruit and veggies but only using 3/4 cup of coconut water and 1/4 cup of water today. I liked the carrot taste, but it still was a little too sweet for me. I added some unflavored protein to give it more nutrition and lime to tamper the sweetness but still had some oatmeal for breakfast.
Day 8, Carrot Cooler
Added Tumeric Smoothie Cubes
Substituted baby kale and celery leaves for spinich
I made this one with baby kale, but would prefer spinach. After tasting, I boosted with coconut smoothie cubes to help lessen the kale flavor. I like the addition of carrots. It must have been good because it didn’t last long!
Not my favorite but it wasn’t awful. I added hemp seeds for some protein.
Loved this smoothie… a little sweeter! I add my Lean Protein Powder and Chia Seeds too!
