If you’ve ever stared at your skin wondering what happened overnight (again), you’re not alone. I’ve been there—with hormonal acne, dullness, and those mysterious splotches on my arms that even my dermatologist couldn’t explain. After years of testing every product under the sun, I finally realized the answer wasn’t in a bottle—it was in my blender.
This Clear Skin Smoothie became a daily ritual, and it changed everything.

Ingredients that Help Clear Skin
This isn’t just a green smoothie—it’s a skin glow smoothie powered by nutrient-dense, plant-based ingredients that help your skin detox, de-puff, and glow like you just walked out of a facial. It’s my go-to detox smoothie for clear skin because it’s hydrating, anti-inflammatory, full of antioxidants, easy to digest, naturally sweet and refreshing
Here’s what makes this smoothie for acne-prone or sensitive skin so powerful:
- Spinach: Loaded with vitamin A and C, both essential for cell turnover, collagen production, and skin repair.
- Coconut water: Nature’s electrolyte-rich hydrator. It flushes out toxins, reduces puffiness, and helps keep skin dewy.
- Pineapple: Contains bromelain, an enzyme that helps with digestion and reduces inflammation (two key factors in clearer skin).
- Avocado: Full of healthy fats and vitamin E to support skin barrier function and a radiant complexion.

Can Smoothies for Clear Skin Actually Work?
Short answer? Not overnight. But when you make this smoothie for clear skin part of your daily routine—and pair it with proper hydration, sleep, and less processed food—your body will thank you. And so will your skin. I’ve personally noticed:
- My adult acne? Gone. It’s wild what a plant-based cleanse and daily smoothie for acne can do when skincare products can’t.
- My nails got stronger. I didn’t even realize how brittle they were until they stopped breaking. I’m sure the collagen I’ve been adding to the smoothie helps, too.
- I slept better. Less inflammation, better digestion, fewer cravings—it all added up to better sleep.
- I found new passions. I started growing herbs for my smoothies, cooking more at home, and building habits that supported my overall wellness—not just clear skin.
This skin smoothie isn’t a magic wand—but it’s a powerful tool in your skincare toolbox. Especially if you’ve been struggling with acne, inflammation, or dullness and want a nourishing, natural boost.
Just take a look at these two selfies I’ve taken (and the food I’m eating). Now, I rarely wear makeup (tinted sunscreen is my jam) and apply tretinoin nightly with plenty of moisturizer to tackle acne from the outside in AND the inside out.

How to Make a Clear Skin Smoothie
Daily smoothies are an easy habit because they take five minutes to put together. You can even cut down on that time if you choose to prep ahead smoothie packs! Since this smoothie has leafy greens, here’s how I use the two-blend method for a creamy result:
- Blend spinach and coconut water until there are no leafy chunks. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed to get every last chunk.
- Add remaining ingredients, including any boosters, and blend again until smooth. Depending on the type of blender you have, be patient! This may take a minute or two to really break down the ingredients.
- Enjoy! I try to drink my smoothies within 15 minutes of blending, yet it’s totally okay to put them in the fridge to enjoy later.
If you are using frozen ingredients you should get a refreshingly cool smoothie. If not, feel free to stick a blended smoothie in the fridge to chill.

More Smoothie Recipes for Glowy Skin
Here are a few of my favorite smoothies for skin health:
- Creamy Blueberry Smoothie: Loaded with antioxidants to fight aging and inflammation.
- Honey Turmeric Smoothie: Tropical, spicy, and anti-inflammatory AF.
- Hydrating Alkaline Smoothie: Hydrating and cooling, perfect for summer skin.
- Glowing Green Smoothie: This recipe is inspired by one that Reese Witherspoon drinks— and her skin is insanely amazing!
When it comes to smoothies for clear skin, consistency is everything. Your skin is always working to detox, repair, and glow—it just needs the right fuel to do it. You don’t need an expensive skincare routine to get glowing (my dermatologist has always told me that).
Incorporating whole, hydrating foods that support your skin from the inside out is the key. If you’re ready to ditch the filters and glow for real, try this clear skin smoothie for a week. Take a before-and-after. Your skin might just surprise you.

Yes! You can blend it in the morning and store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Or Frozen Meal Prep Smoothie Packs ahead with the solid ingredients and freeze—just add liquid and blend when ready.
Yes! Drinking a smoothie for clear skin daily can make a big difference. Leafy greens, fruit, and healthy fats support your body’s natural detox process, reduce inflammation, and deliver essential nutrients your skin needs to heal and glow.
For best results, enjoy this glowing skin smoothie daily or at least 3–4 times a week. Consistency is key when it comes to seeing long-term benefits.
This smoothie for acne contains spinach (for vitamin A), pineapple (with anti-inflammatory bromelain), avocado (healthy fats + vitamin E), and coconut water (hydration + minerals)—a powerful combo to calm breakouts and nourish skin from within.
Yes, dairy can disrupt your hormone levels, which may lead to breakouts and skin flare-ups—especially if you’re acne-prone or sensitive to hormonal changes.
Alcohol dehydrates your skin, disrupts hormone balance, and can cause puffiness and dullness. Over time, it can contribute to premature aging and breakouts.
Refined sugar spikes your blood sugar, which triggers inflammation in the body. That inflammation can show up on your face as acne, redness, or dullness.
How would I be able to use this smoothie on my face, how long do I wait till I wash it off?
Hey there Anastasia! Interesting question! Actually Jen was saying that tongue and cheek. She just wanted to emphasize that the ingredients are so clean and helpful to the skin. We hope you’ve been blending and noticing some helpful differences. 🙂
Hi! Could I use coconut milk ?
You can totally use coconut milk here, although we’d def recommend it be plain and unsweetened if possible.
I’ve tried this smoothie and love it! How often is it advised to drink for clear skin benefits? I wouldn’t say I have severe acne but I get little blemishes here and there which always add to insecurity.. it taste’s so good although I did substitute the coconut water for almond milk as my local shop didn’t have any
Any of our smoothies can be blended as often as every day if you’d like when working on a specific condition like acne. However, we’d highly recommend you switch up the greens regularly in that smoothie to avoid an unhealthy build up of alkaloids. Simply delicious! And creamy and so fresh tasting to boot.
This smoothie has been helping me. I am looking for a new breakfast/dinner recipe
Hi Anna – check out our Meal Replacement Smoothies for some great new recipe options!
Hi there! i just had a question. I’m starting a new green juice journey lol and I started today with a green smoothie for breakfast, and as most people, I shared it on Instagram, but a friend responded and said to make sure to add protein to all my juices and smoothies, but I haven’t seen that as an ingredient for your recipes. Do I need it? My goal is just to lose some weight and also to add more greens to my body.
Awesome question! You have a very smart friend, actually! If you’re going to be using your green smoothie as a meal replacement, yes – you should def add clean protein (like…um…homemade protein powder from Simple Green Smoothies for example!) and healthy fat (I’m looking at you avocado or MCT oil). Any of our recipes can be turned into a complete meal that way. If you’re smoothie is more of a snack or dessert, then feel free to rawk it as is without those add-ins. Happy blending!
Can I use fresh pineapple?
You can absolutely use fresh pineapple! Really, is there anything better? Honestly, it’s like candy. We opted to say ‘frozen’ in our recipe because using at least 1 frozen item in a smoothie helps it to be deliciously cold. Totally up to the one doing the blending though.

Can you substitute the water? Maybe Alkaline water
Hi LO – you can def sub the coconut water with alkaline water, plain water or unsweetened coconut milk for this recipe.
This is one of my go-tos. Few ingredients, delicious, and awesome benefits!
I couldn’t agree more!
I have this smoothie a lot. Like… a lot, a lot. It’s so good I never mind having it over and over!
