Health Benefits of a Lemon Peach Smoothie

Lemon: This smoothie calls for a whole lemon without the rind. Lemon flesh provides fiber to help you feel full longer. Lemons also give this smoothie a dose of vitamin C, which is just what your body needs to fend off both cold and flu viruses.

Peaches: Peaches are in the stone fruit family, and stone fruit gets its name from the hard, inner seed. They are an excellent source of vitamin C to support a healthy immune system. Peaches may also prevent certain types of cancer and aid in digestion.

Honey: Honey not only adds natural sweetness to this lemon smoothie, it’s also a natural energy booster. Look for raw honey in the baking aisle of your grocery store. Unlike pasteurized honey, Raw honey does not undergo the heating process, and all of the nutrients are preserved. Raw honey has antioxidant and natural anti-bacterial properties that can help improve digestive system as well as help you stay healthy.

Ginger: Ginger contains the anti-inflammatory compound gingerol. Ginger also helps promote healthy digestion, lower blood pressure, and increased immunity. Peel the skin from the ginger with a sharp paring knife before grating the flesh.

Turmeric: Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound. The medicinal effects of turmeric work at the molecular level to tame inflammation that leads to diseases like heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, and Alzheimerโ€™s. Turmeric delivers antioxidants for boosting your immune system. If you don’t have access to fresh turmeric for your lemon smoothie, then you can swap in dried powdered turmeric. If using fresh, then use about a ยฝ tablespoon-sized knob. Peel the turmeric first, then grate before adding to the blender.

How to remove the rind from a lemon

  1. Wash and dry the lemon before removing the peel.
  2. Using a vegetable peeler, peel the rind (like you would an apple). Leaving as much of the white pith on the lemon as possible. This has the most vitamix C of the entire lemon!
  3. Discard the rind and cut the lemon into quarters. This fleshy part of the lemon contains the fiber, and adding this to your smoothie will keep you feeling full longer.

Boosting with protein

If you’re looking to turn this smoothie into a meal, then I recommending boosting it with a plant-based protein powder. My protein powder recipe offers 10 grams of plant based protein, along with 4 grams of healthy fat and 7 grams of fiber.

Boosting smoothies like this lemon smoothie helps keep you full longer, as well as helps the body turn the natural sugar from this smoothie into useable energy.

More Lemon Smoothie Recipes

I love adding lemon to my smoothies so I have some more fun recipes to share with you!

If you blended a smoothie that tastes less than great, then try adding a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to it. Lemon can help brighten up that smoothie a bit, as well as bring the other flavors together.

If you find lemons a bit too tart for a smoothie, then try buying Meyer lemons. I can seriously eat these lemons by themselves, they are so sweet and juicy.

This was surprisingly refreshing. Tart but not too much and warm with the ginger and turmeric. My kids always try the smoothies and I can tell which ones they like best by how much is gone. This one they didnโ€™t leave much for me to drink.

Not my favorite. Just a little too tart for me. I added 1/2 banana and 2 more teaspoons of honey. Helped a little.

Loved this one! I had a fairly small lemon, so that might be why it wasnโ€™t very tart, but I loved the flavor. I used a piece of fresh turmeric instead of powdered. I think that affected the color a bit, as it was more orange than the bright yellow I was seeing from others. Definitely will make this again!

This is the ultimate refreshing afternoon pick-me-up smoothie and snack/drink overall. Plus it is healthy! I usually go for the cookies or soda or other sugar treat in the afternoon, but today I tried the Perfect Lemon Smoothie. I definitely feel better consuming this smoothie. I think this smoothie will be a game changer.

Hey Jen, can we sub this smoothie for the apple cider tonic in the spring cleanse???!!!

I really enjoy this sweet and tangy smoothie. It tastes like a frozen lemonade with a bit of a kick. This will be super delicious and refreshing on a summer day.

Not my favorite though I like lemon. I would drink it when I am having a cold or something. I tastes spicy essence from ginger.

I donโ€™t typically love lemon unless it is frozen lemonade in the summer. I liked this but it just wasnโ€™t my favorite so far. Adding the peaches definitely helps offset the tart lemons. A good variation to try in warmer months.

Ok. Iโ€™ll admit this is my least favorite smoothie so far, but probably because I didnโ€™t blend it long enough. I think next time I would add 1/2 banana or 1/2 avocado to smoothie it up a bit more. Next time I try that change Iโ€™ll let you know what I think. The tang was a good level with the ginger root. I loved the peaches but I think next time Iโ€™d go half&half water and almond milk.

The peach and lemon combo were delicious, however I think I put too much ginger in. The smoothie tasted a bit peppery.

Didnโ€™t make too much but, Iโ€™m sure full of healthy benefits. Was yummy!!

This was as described – a bright start to the day. I love the taste of fresh lemon and know it is good for you. I didnโ€™t have the turmeric to add. I would make it again.

Iโ€™m sorry to say this was not my favorite smoothie. I love all the ingredients and only made one minor change. Instead of a whole lemon, I used 1/2 lemon and 1/2 orange. I expected it to be tart, but it ended up being bitter. I donโ€™t know if the lemon was not good, but I suspect it was the turmeric. I usually never put more than 1/8 of a teaspoon in my smoothies so I think 1/2 teaspoon was just too much for me and Iโ€™m used to putting turmeric in almost everything.

Not really a favorite of mine but certainly like the beneficial ingredients. Think I’ll try mixing with some other fruits next time to tone down tartness.

First time with this smoothie during the smoothie challenge it’s a good one! It’s a good boost of vitamin C during the winter months and very refreshing. With the lemon and peaches being the primary ingredients it’s not as bulky as other smoothies.

Day 4 Smoothie I doubled the recipe to make 2 servings but only used 1 medium sized lemon, it was still a bit too tart so I added a banana, and 3 sweet cherries which did tone the tartness down and we were happy with the result. I was surprised my husband loved it because he usually doesnโ€™t like tart anything. The banana nor the cherries were detectable but the definitely toned down the pucker factor.

I love the tartness of the lemon, but I drink a juice of lemon with hot water, everyoneโ€™s tastes different. Thanks for this.
