How to Use Metabolism Tea

To get your metabolism ramped up, you just need what we’ve always needed: rest, nutrient-dense foods that boost your metabolism and movement. This is how our bodies are meant to function and thrive.

When you get back to these three essentials, you’re practicing self-care and your body will begin to heal itself. Sometimes that means more energy, weight loss, clear skin, fewer aches, etcโ€”ย but no matter what it’s going to be feeling better than it does right now.

Best time to drink

The best time to have Metabolism Tea is upon rising as it will activate your digestive system and help relieve any bloating or digestive concerns. Once the tonic settles in, it’ll get your metabolism burn happening as well.

As the day goes on and you’re feeling hungry in between meals, sip this before you have a snack. Sometimes hunger is actually your body telling you it’s thirsty (the wires do often get crossed in our minds).

Can I make it in Bulk?

You can make this in bulk (omit the water) and freeze into ice cube trays. Then in the morning, pop one cube into a mug with hot water (or enjoy it cold in the summer). Doing this will set you up for that success you crave and get you on the road to lower weight + increased energy.

Powerful Ingredients in Metabolism Tea

Let’s be honest. When you’re just started out with a healthier diet, it’s much easier to incorporate something healthy to drink than trying to cook a new meal. This drink isn’t the cure all, but it will support you on this wellness journey thanks to these awesome ingredients:

  • Apple cider vinegar – or ACV to its closest friends – contains something called acetic acid. While research is still being done to see how this is helpful, initial studies show that acetic acid reduces insulin levels, which in turn ramps up your metabolism.
  • Lemon: Lemon contains various polyphenols that can suppress our appetite.
  • Ginger root: This inflammation fighting root vegetable helps heal your body from the inside out.
  • Cinnamon: Cinnamon has a direct tie to our metabolism and can target the fat deposited in the abdominal area.
  • Honey: Using a natural sweeteners makes this drink delicious while also adding beneficial anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibacterial agents.

More Foods to Increase Metabolism and Burn Fat

Getting a healthy amount of leafy greens, legumes, proteins, vegetables and fruits is essential to supporting the metabolism. Slow-burning carbohydrates will help you maintain a stable metabolic rate and keep you active and nourished throughout the day.

Stick with foods like…

Refined sugars and simple starches do the opposite, spiking insulin production and throwing the whole system out of whack. This can cause the metabolism to slow down and to store sugar as fat rather than burning it as energy. Yet it’s not easy to say no to them, so I prefer the method of adding in more good stuff so it crowds out the bad.

Bottom line: A plant-based whole-food diet is going to do your metabolism some serious good.

This combo actually tastes pretty good and makes drinking ACV tolerable. I’m used to drinking the hot lemon and ginger tonic from the cleanses…this just steps it up a notch, packing more flavor punch and health benefits. About half way through, I had to strain out the ginger though, as it was just too much. I like the ginger taste, just not all the chunks. I don’t think I could drink this on a daily basis, but will definitely make it again.

    1. I am so happy you gave this tea a try! You can totally grade less ginger then what this recipe calls for. Make this work for you! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I thought it was really good. It was too sweet for me but I donโ€™t like sweet things. I drink black coffee and very dark chocolate. I plan to make again and cut the amount of honey. I also used the fresh ginger that was already grated in a tube so I think it was a bit more concentrated that if I have grated at the time of making so I will grate myself or use less of the pre-grated one.

    1. Yes feel free to add less honey to make it not so sweet. I personally notice a big difference when i grate fresh ginger so I think you will love it!!!

  3. This was great tis morning!!! Amazed at how I am not hungry today and I do not crave anything sweet..What an easy way to reset my 78 year old digestive system:) Im always looking for new ways to feel better not old:)

    1. Sounds like you are taking all he necessary steps! SO happy that you loved this tea and already seeing results ๐Ÿ™‚

  4. i used to make this tea, and your post reminded me how much i like what it does for me. i always feel more energy. i make it a little differently. i have chocolate mint growing in my yard, and i make the base of the tea with fresh chocolate mint tea. thanks for getting me back on the metabolism tea morning routine!

Delicious. I’m going to drink this twice a day everyday. I can’t have too much honey because of health reasons but I will try half honey and half brown sugar. I will also add tumeric to this drink. Amazing!!

    1. Glad you enjoyed this recipe! The turmeric will be a great addition!

  6. I am reading the comments and keep wondering if I’m missing something… this is potent!! I ended up adding far more than 1 cup of warm water!! 2 tablespoons of fresh grated ginger and 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with only 1 cup of water? The honey, lemon, and cinnamon help but it was barely drinkable till I added more water.. probably ended up using about 3 cups of water. Hope it helps as I realize I have diluted the potency but I couldn’t possibly get it down with just one cup of water.

    1. Your taste buds might be more sensitive to the ingredients in this recipe so you did what we would normally recommend. Over time you will be able to add less water and drink it just the way the recipe is ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. I was actually drinking a very similar concoction (with turmeric only instead of cinnamon and cayenne pepper, and maple syrup instead of honey) for quite a while but then I stopped, not sure now why? I’m going to try and incorporate it into my morning routine again – starting tomorrow! ๐Ÿ™‚

This is a really great tea. I was so surprised how much I really enjoy it. To be honest, at first I was a little hesitant, but I really liked it a hot. All the combination of the different flavors gives it a really great taste and I felt really great after I drank my first cup. I will make this past of my morning. Thank you Jen so much for sharing this recipe with me.

    Hi Jen
Thanks for sharing this metabolism tea. It really is da bomb!! I made it up last night, enough for three (all for me); had one cup last night and the other this morning. I normally have 2 glasses of water first thing, take my meds and then wait a spell for my body to get to the ‘aha moment’. Anyhoo I had some meta-tea last night because I’ve been trying to go gym in the mornings since I joining up again (quite recently) but my body, brain, eyes all seem to wake up at different times and no point going when the body is still in another time zone coz that’s just uncomfortable (if you get my drift) so I thought drink a cup so all those parts wake up simultaneously and it did!! I was able to ‘see to my biz’ first thing and then hit the gym around 6.30am – felt right as rain. Did a proper good workout and then came back and had had another ‘shift’. That’s never happened before. NEVER. This is now a staple going forward. Amazing job. I am just so happy as the lark!!!
It tastes so good, hot, spicy, warming – just everything you could want in a tea.
Thank you so very much!!!! Have a metabolism boosting day ๐Ÿ™‚

Just made, drank and loved this tea. Was a bit skeptical as some of the ingredients are โ€˜scary!โ€™ Much to my surprise it tasted so good. Shared with my friend as I think everybody should drink it. Will definitely be including this tea in my daily routine along with my green smoothies!! Thank you.

  14. I did try the tea for the first time this morning.
It was not bad. For sure I will try to drink it every morning, I just need to get used to it.
Thanks for sharing all your green inventions!

Tried it this morning – it was a nice start to the day. Not sure it made any difference – too soon to tell really.

At my age (60ish) it is getting harder and harder to persued my body to let go of the extra weight. It seems to make no differencre what I do – eat healthy, eat more green, don’t snack, do moderate exercise – I have tried them all. Body is stuck on its set weight and returns there no matter how much or little I eat. It mostly stays tere, but then it also attempts to rise a little as time goes on. So anything that can help me to reset it is helpful. Not sure this is it either.

Its those extra 20kg that stick around my waist that are making it hard. Don’t want to have to keep buying a new wardrobe. Don’t really want to be Mrs Tubby either.
