My eight-year old daughter Clare and I love to do our nails together. It’s our girl bonding time— we turn on our Taylor Swift playlist, debate about our nail color and chat as we paint away. I paint her left hand and she helps paint my right hand. Life slows down and hearts connect. It’s one of my fav things we do together.
I created this Dragon Fruit Recipe to be a part of our girl time– because true beauty comes from within. It’s how we love ourselves and others. From the foods we put into our bodies to the words we put into our heads— it all matters. I need to make sure she knows that and sees that lived out.

This Dragon Fruit Smoothie Bowl is a reminder to us that beauty is more than skin deep. Yet it doesn’t mean you have to ignore the surface. Both are valuable! So let’s go for it! This 5-minute recipe is super easy and one I hope you make for yourself…or your daughter. 🙂

This dragon fruit recipe is inspired by my daughter, Clare, because it’s beautiful and sweet. It’s also a bit unique, because dragonfruit is not a staple Simple Green Smoothies ingredient. But I’ve been buying it a lot more since I got a membership to Costco. Try this bowl today!
- 1 (3.5 ounce) packet frozen dragon fruit puree (pitya)
- 1 bananas (large frozen )
- 1/2 cup pineapple ( frozen )
- 1/2 cup cauliflower florets ( frozen )
- 1/4–1/2 cup water ( plus more if needed, for blending)
- coconut cream (for swirling)
- fresh berries
- Blend all ingredients together.
- Use a tamper to push down and encourage blending if gettings stuck.
- Spoon mixture into a bowl.
- Swirl in coconut cream.
- Top with fresh berries.

Random Jen moment: I am not sure why, but I always thought I would be the mom with four sons. Baseball and climbing trees would be in our family DNA. Well, eight years ago, I had my second lil’ baby… and right there in the delivery room we found out we had just welcomed a girl into Team Hansard.
I was in total shock and didn’t know what to name her— we had assumed she would be a boy and we’re gonna name her Sawyer! After two days of “baby girl” we eventually decided on Clare after our Irish heritage. These past 8 years have been amazing —she has brought so much joy and love and spunk into our lives— she was our blessing. Happy birthday Clare Bear!
