  • Coconut Water: A hydrating base that enhances texture. Coconut water provides electrolytes.

    I have an orange tree and love the recipes that help me get in my daily orange! I added the homemade protein powder and amla powder, otherwise made as listed. It was a big one today, 24+ oz! But real tasty! I think all of the smoothies with citrus and/or mangos and pineapples are wonderful!

    Sweet. Filling. Delicious. I prepped ahead and froze my smoothie packs for the week and got impatient in waiting for my oranges to thaw, so I ended up using more liquid to get everything to blend. That worked out well for my 20 yr old son who said he’d give it a try since there was plenty left after filling my own cup. He’s a fan and would drink it again. I’ve never had spirulina before but I’m happy with the results and even more so with the health benefits.

    This one was great! It was tropical and creamy. I added the homemade protein powder blend and used 1/2 cup canned coconut milk and 1 cup water. I also used blue spirulina powder because that’s all I had. My 2 older boys and I enjoyed it!

    While ok for a change, I’m finding that I don’t seem to like ‘tropical’ smoothies as much as I expected to. Maybe I don’t like mango as much as I did when I was having it in a daiquiri or margarita(I’ve given up alcohol). I didn’t want to buy spirulina for use in one smoothie so I just used my regular hemp protein powder. After tasting, I added a drop of vanilla and that made it better but still not a regular go-to.

    Tastes tropical with the pineapple, orange, and mango. I subbed kale for spinach and added vanilla protein powder. I usually take spirulina in capsules as a supplement. Just opened two capsules and added powder to the blender for this smoothie. You could add spirulina to almost any smoothie to get it in daily.

    I could not find the Spirulina at all in any Toronto supermarket (but I found a drink sugarless made from that but I will give it a try another time )so I left that out..I bought an organic coconut water that was delicious so my smoothie was humming

    I wanted to give this a try without a trip to the store, so made a few substitutions. Subbed 1/2 cup almond milk and 1/2 cup orange juice for the coconut water & orange. Also added 1/3 of a banana and 1 T of flaxseed. I’m a spirulina newbie but used the full 1-1/2 tsp called for in the recipe and had no problem at all with the flavor. Smoothie was delicious!
