Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients

Here are a few quick notes about the strawberry banana smoothie ingredients that you will need to make this recipe:

  • Frozen strawberries: Look for unsweetened frozen strawberries in the frozen fruit section. Check the label to make sure no added sugars or syrups are included.
  • Banana: Choose ripe bananas (yellow with a few brown spots). Riper bananas are sweeter and blend better in smoothies. if you have extras, you can freeze bananas for future smoothies.
  • Almond milk: Choose unsweetened almond milk brand for lower sugar or make your own homemade almond milk.
  • Frozen cauliflower: Look for frozen riced cauliflower or frozen florets—riced blends more easily. Adding a little frozen cauliflower to fruit smoothies adds fiber + extra creaminess and doesn’t ruin the taste. Promise this is a winner (and you’ll never go back to a straight fruit smoothie).
  • Chia seeds: Black or white chia seeds are both fine—there’s no nutritional difference. These superfoods add omega-3s, fiber, and protein.

Recipe Variations

  • Protein boost: Add 1 serving of protein powder or collagen peptides to make it more filling and supportive for muscle recovery and skin health.
  • Extra creamy: Swap almond milk for canned light coconut milk or add ¼ avocado for a richer, creamier texture.
  • Fiber-rich: Add 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed or keep the chia seeds and add ½ cup frozen zucchini for extra fiber without changing the taste.
  • Green smoothie: Blend in 1 cup fresh spinach. This leafy green vegetable blends smoothly and won’t overpower the strawberry banana flavor.
  • Naturally Sweeter: Add 1–2 pitted dates or swap half the almond milk for coconut water for a slightly sweeter, more refreshing finish.

Storage Tips

Drink immediately for the best texture and flavor. Or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours—just give it a good shake or stir before drinking!

Another hit for us! Not only tasty, but knowing it’s good for us inspired us to eat healthy the rest of the day. We didn’t get hungry for hours and had no urge to snack all day. Nothing short of amazing!

Tasted awesome! Next time, I’ll use frozen bananas, as it needed a bit more “icy-ness”.

I couldn’t believe how much I enjoyed this smoothie. Typically strawberry smoothies are not my favorite. I did slightly thaw my strawberries before blending to hopefully have them be more flavorful. I cut back the banana to just one and upped my cauliflower + a splash of vanilla. Oh I almost forgot, I used coconut milk with chia seeds instead of almond milk. It was perfection!

Day 2: Delicious! Only used 1 banana. 1.5 seemed a bit much. Will definitely make this again.

Comments for 1/11/2022 Day 2 Strawberry Banana Smoothie Sadly the bowl fell and the dog got what I didn’t, lol. I only added 4 strawberries, but overall I really enjoyed this smoothie. It was like a dessert shake!

    Winter Smoothie Challenge Day 2

This is a delicious smoothie. I added the protein powder, which is really yummy. I did not alter the recipe nor make any substitutions.

All family members love this smoothie and we hope to add it to our regular smoothie rotation, which we hope to make a new family habit this year.

As other Facebook reviewers noted, the banana overpowers the strawberry flavor in these proportions, but it’s still a delicious smoothie. We might make the proportions of strawberry a bit more next time. 🙂

Strawberries and Bananas is a classic combination so this smoothie was a winner from the first sip! The sweetness was just right – nothing missing. I liked the addition of cauliflower because of the nutrition it added to my blend…an ingredient I never thought about adding. I’d say this veggie will find itself in another smoothie soon!

I loved this smoothie. My husband was skeptical because of the cauliflower, but we both loved it.

This smoothie is creamy and delicious. I was a little skeptical about putting cauliflower in a smoothie but it turned out very good. I couldn’t even taste the cauliflower. My three year old loved this smoothies as well. I will be making this smoothie again.

My husband really liked this one. I thought it was pretty good, but didn’t enjoy it as much as he did. Maybe next time I’ll use only 2 bananas.

    Day 2 Smoothie Challenge:
My first time for smoothies with with veggies in it. Cauliflower, it blew my mind. The vibrant color from strawberries will keep you going.

I was pleasantly surprised with this smoothie. Was worried that I would taste the cauliflower, it’s not my favorite, couldn’t tell it was there. I will definitely make the Strawberry Banana smoothie again!

Great smoothie. I really liked the cauliflower. I also made it green. Will definitely make again.

I was surprised if the smoothie was as good as it turned out to be. I love the Chia seeds I think I might double that amount into my smoothie and the cauliflower I didn’t notice so much. The strawberry and banana is always a winning combination for me I loved it.

I enjoyed this one but my daughter thought it had too much banana-to-berry ratio.

This one was just ok for me, mainly bc i could taste the cauliflower. But, I definitely went outside of my comfort zone with it, so I’m proud of myself for that!

    1. Traci did you use fresh or frozen cauliflower. I’m curious because whenever I use frozen riced cauliflower I can never taste it but can when it’s fresh.

This was a super thick smoothie, almost like ice cream. I think my frozen strawberries were bland because my banana overpowered in taste and it was only light pink. I will try this again with extra fresh strawberries.

This one was so smooth and yummy! I never thought of adding cauliflower. I actually increased the cauliflower to 1/2 cup. I did not use the protein powder since I was having it as a snack. I was craving something sweet and this hit the spot!
