This Strawberry Banana Smoothie is a refreshing, guilt-free treat that supports your healthโand tastes like dessert in a glass. Sweet strawberries, creamy banana, and hidden cauliflower create a luscious, energizing drink packed with fiber, antioxidants, and omega-3s.
Before I lose you, let’s talk about the cauliflower in the room. Don’t fear! This will change your life (and your health!). I’m on a mission to make healthier smoothies that still taste amazing. Adding cauliflower to fruit smoothies adds fiber + extra creaminess and doesn’t ruin the taste. Promise this is a winner (and you’ll never go back to a straight fruit smoothie).

Ingredients You’ll Need
Frozen Strawberries
- What to buy: Look for unsweetened frozen strawberries in the frozen fruit section. Check the label to make sure no added sugars or syrups are included.
- Tips: You can also buy fresh strawberries and freeze them yourselfโjust wash, hull, and slice before freezing.
- Storage: Keep in the freezer in an airtight bag or container.
Bananas
- What to buy: Choose ripe bananas (yellow with a few brown spots). Riper bananas are sweeter and blend better in smoothies.
- Storage: Store fresh bananas on the counter. Freeze peeled bananas in a sealed bag for smoothie prep.
Unsweetened Almond Milk
- What to buy: Choose unsweetened almond milk for lower sugar. Any non-dairy milk like oat, soy, cashew, or coconut milk will work.
- Tips: Look for options with added calcium and vitamin D for extra nutrients or make your own homemade almond milk.
- Storage: Refrigerated cartons usually last 7โ10 days after opening. Shelf-stable options can be kept unopened in the pantry.
Cauliflower
- What to buy: Look for frozen riced cauliflower or frozen floretsโriced blends more easily. Fresh cauliflower also works, but it will alter the flavor (and not in a good way).
- Tips: You wonโt taste it in the smoothie, but it adds fiber and nutrients. Great hidden veggie!
- Storage: Store in the freezer and use as neededโno need to thaw.
Chia Seeds
- Storage: Keep in an airtight container in a cool, dark place or the fridge to maintain freshness.
- What to buy: Find chia seeds in the baking aisle, health food section, or bulk bins.
- Tips: Black or white chia seeds are both fineโthereโs no nutritional difference. These add omega-3s, fiber, and protein.
Protein Smoothie Boost
Adding 1 serving of my homemade protein powder will give this strawberry banana smoothie recipe an additional 10+ grams of plant-powered protein, as well as 4 grams of healthy fats. That turns this smoothie into long lasting energy without any sugar crash!
How to Make Strawberry Banana Smoothie
This smoothie is even easier to blend up than a traditional green smoothie, because you don’t need to blend the liquid and leafy greens first. Just toss all the ingredients into your blender and blend! A high-powered blender will break down the chia seeds as well as the strawberry seeds.
- Prep Your Ingredients
- Peel and slice the bananas if theyโre not already sliced.
- Measure out frozen strawberries and cauliflower. (No need to thaw!)
- Give your chia seeds a quick stir to break up any clumps.
- Add to Blender in This Order
- Almond milk first (helps everything blend more easily).
- Then add banana, cauliflower, strawberries, and chia seeds.
- Blend Like a Rawkstar
- Start on low speed and gradually increase to high.
- Blend for about 45โ60 seconds, or until completely smooth and creamy.
- If the smoothie is too thick, add a bit more almond milk (1โ2 tablespoons at a time) and blend again.
- Taste and Adjust
- Want it sweeter? Add a small drizzle of maple syrup or an extra ยฝ banana.
- Prefer it colder or thicker? Toss in a few ice cubes and re-blend.
- Serve
- Pour into a glass or smoothie jar.
- Optional: Top with a sprinkle of chia seeds, sliced banana, or a few extra berries for a beautiful finish.
Smoothie Storage Tip
Drink immediately for the best texture and flavor. Or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hoursโjust give it a good shake or stir before drinking!

Loved it! I didn’t have chia seeds, but will definitely have for next time. I drank it for lunch with some nuts as I didn’t have unflavored plant-based protein powder (who knew this was so difficult to find!).
This is a classic that anyone would love! I had to add a bit more water, maybe my bananas are too large making it thick. I’ll see if half works as it should next time.
Well, I would have never thought about adding cauliflower to a smoothie, but it worked out. Instead of almond milk, I used hemp milk. I loved the creamy texture. I also added a little agave probably because I only had 1/2 of a frozen banana left in the freezer.
I loved the creaminess from the cauliflower! I had to add an extra cup of water to make it where it was thin enough to drink – but could have left it standing for a bit if I hadnโt have been so hungry!!
Would like to try again wish some of the subs suggested for some of the banana! Definitely would make again!
I was nervous about this one, but it was so good. I usually use spinach as my main veggie, but the cauliflower was great. The amount of carbs was very low on this one too.
Another great tasting smoothe. I do have to admit to swapping plain yogurt for the cauliflower though. I live in a very rural area & just could not justify driving 30 minutes each way to go to a grocery store. I am truly enjoying your protein powder! I’m thinking I may have to start ordering that in bulk.
I added a bit of cacao as it and strawberries go great together! And then topped it with a tiny dollop of coconut cream. Was really yummy!
Forgot cauliflower at the store yesterday, so I just used greens again. The color was definitely different but the flavor was wonderful! I will try to remember cauliflower next time and try it again!
Yummy! Day two is great! Simple and delicious! Canโt wait for day 3!
Great smoothie! Never would have thought to put cauliflower in it but it was surprisingly good!
Delicious and super nutricious
Soooo Good, I didn’t make my own almond milk, but really enjoyed this one!~
I never considered cauliflower in a smoothie before. I liked it!
A great lightly flavored smoothie, not too sweet which is great. Not a fan of chia seeds in smoothies so swapped for hemp hearts. Will make this often!
It was delicious right amount of strawberries and used chia and protein powder
Very good! This was the first time I have included cauliflower in a smoothie and I was pleasantly surprised I didnโt taste it at all.
Oh My Goodness, Who Knew That Strawberries And Cauliflower Would Make Such A Creamy And Delicious Smoothie? Well, I Do Now And I Will Be Making This Again
So the taste was great but took off a star because it was completely frozen. Had to add a lot more almond milk to even get it blended.
I really like cauliflower but for those who don’t, I assure that you will not know there is any in this smoothie! It’s a great idea that I hadn’t considered before. I will make it a regular addition. I used riced cauliflower which we nearly always have on hand. I made the mistake of using all frozen items except the almond milk and it was too thick to blend so I had to add more liquid (almond milk and water). Now that I look and see the chia seeds used as a garnish, I think I’ll do that next time instead of blending because I ended up with quite a few stuck to the inside of the blender. Another great tasting smoothie!
Love strawberries!
