Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients
Here are a few quick notes about the strawberry banana smoothie ingredients that you will need to make this recipe:
- Frozen strawberries: Look for unsweetened frozen strawberries in the frozen fruit section. Check the label to make sure no added sugars or syrups are included.
- Banana: Choose ripe bananas (yellow with a few brown spots). Riper bananas are sweeter and blend better in smoothies. if you have extras, you can freeze bananas for future smoothies.
- Almond milk: Choose unsweetened almond milk brand for lower sugar or make your own homemade almond milk.
- Frozen cauliflower: Look for frozen riced cauliflower or frozen florets—riced blends more easily. Adding a little frozen cauliflower to fruit smoothies adds fiber + extra creaminess and doesn’t ruin the taste. Promise this is a winner (and you’ll never go back to a straight fruit smoothie).
- Chia seeds: Black or white chia seeds are both fine—there’s no nutritional difference. These superfoods add omega-3s, fiber, and protein.
Recipe Tips
- Add a protein powder or try my homemade protein powder to give you long lasting energy without any sugar crash.
- Swap almond milk with any non-dairy milk like oat, soy, cashew, or coconut milk.
- Use one of my recommended blenders for smoothies to get the creamiest result.

Recipe Variations
- Protein boost: Add 1 serving of protein powder or collagen peptides to make it more filling and supportive for muscle recovery and skin health.
- Extra creamy: Swap almond milk for canned light coconut milk or add ¼ avocado for a richer, creamier texture.
- Fiber-rich: Add 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed or keep the chia seeds and add ½ cup frozen zucchini for extra fiber without changing the taste.
- Green smoothie: Blend in 1 cup fresh spinach. This leafy green vegetable blends smoothly and won’t overpower the strawberry banana flavor.
- Naturally Sweeter: Add 1–2 pitted dates or swap half the almond milk for coconut water for a slightly sweeter, more refreshing finish.
Storage Tips
Drink immediately for the best texture and flavor. Or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours—just give it a good shake or stir before drinking!

Another quick, simple & tasty smoothie, interesting with a slight cauliflower taste.
This was easy and tasty. It was the first time I have ever used raw cauliflower in a smoothie and was surprised that I couldn’t even tell it was in it. And yes, I did use the chia seeds.
Light and creamy- smooth. No overpowering flavors which is a good thing.
I liked this smoothie. It was a nice change of pace. I have to admit I took liberties with the original recipe by using unsweetened oat milk, 1/2 a large banana, 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower, 2 teaspoons of chia seed, and a pinch of turmeric and ginger. I also couldn’t resist adding some power greens although I think I used less than a cup. It was very thick, even before the chia seeds had a chance to swell. All in all, it was tasty.
Always love bananas and strawberries together. Used frozen cauliflower and did not detect it in the smoothie. The almond milk made it creamy with the chic seed making it thick. Which is the way I like my smoothie more like a ‘milk shake’ in consistency. Thank you for another great recipe. #day2 #10smoothiechallange
Sorry, not one of my favourites. I followed the directions and had all the ingredients. It’s super creamy, has a pretty color but I found it rather tasteless.
Looking forward to trying the next one though.
I was a bit nervous about putting cauliflower in a smoothie, but it blended smooth and will definitely be an added bonus of vegetable in my future smoothies. I appreciated the update on the classic strawberry banana smoothie that I remember from childhood.
Let me start out by saying, I’m the type of person that likes Bananas…. but only like fresh ones. By this I mean, I love eating a whole Banana and I’ll even slice one and put it in my cereal; however, I’ve never cared for bananas flavored anything…. no shakes, milk, candy, etc.
I decided to add only one Banana and then taste it before adding the other half. At the one banana taste test, it already had a strong banana flavor, so I stopped there.
With the exception of the banana flavor, I will make this again, keeping the banana at one and increasing the strawberries to 1 1/2 cups.
Love that these are inspiring but not prescriptive. My digestion can’t handle chia so I added some almonds instead. Delicious. I think it is going to be hard to pick a favorite this week!
As a true banana hater, this was not my fav by far, but only because of my true hatred for the bananas. I’ll have to try again using 1/2 banana so I cannot taste it.
This smoothie was good, but I like it a bit sweeter, so I ad a bit of maple syrup and it comes out nice. This one tastes like a strawberry milkshake and is very creamy too. I also added some pumpkin seeds as well.
Very yummy! I just used one banana & a scoop of protein powder. Was tempted to add greens, but it looked too pretty as is!

Mine was a pretty color, but not near as vibrant as the ones in the blog. Surprised at the cauliflower! Great addition, though; could not taste it. Used riced frozen cauliflower so it was easy to measure. Consistency was thick and creamy. Speaking of taste, I would prefer more strawberry taste to this one, so it would match the beautiful color!
Very smooth. First smoothie with chia seeds. Vitamix did it’s job and not a seed in sight. Cook
The banana strawberry smoothie was great. It filled me up and kept me satisfied until around 5pm. The taste and consistency was perfect and I loved knowing I was receivign so many nutrients for lunch! Thanks for the recipe; will definitely be keepin it.
The strawberry banana smoothie tasted light and airy. This was the first time I made a smoothie with cauliflower. I couldn’t taste the cauliflower which was good while adding texture and extra nutrients.
This was yummy, but alot! I added a scoop of rolled oats, 2 scoops of vanilla protein powder and a cup of spinach!
I prepared last night by freezing fresh cauliflower, then woke up early this morning so that I could make this for the hubby before he went off to work. With the addition of a little cinnamon and doubling the recipe, I followed it down to the T….It was wonderful and a success! My toddler drank everything today, the full 5 ounces I gave him! Whereas yesterday he only drank 2 ounces of the green smoothie. I don’t think he noticed the cauliflower at all. With the weight of the chia and banana I think we will stay full for a while. What a wonderful synergy of ingredients. Thank you! ♥️
Hi foodie friends!
I tried this drink and was shocked at how the cauliflower blended so well into this drink. Perfect way to sneak in veggies into my kids diet. I substituted the almond milk for vanilla oat milk which made it creamier and more flavorful.
I like this smoothie a lot, but the chia seeds may be a bit much for some people (like my husband )
This smoothie was surprisingly delicious and filling. I was skeptical about the cauliflower but I did not taste it at all. It was a tasty, lightly sweet treat.
