This healthy strawberry smoothie is proof that simple ingredients can still feel satisfying. Juicy strawberries and cherries bring natural sweetness, while cashew milk and raw cashews create a rich, creamy texture without dairy. It’s balanced, refreshing, and easy to digest—making it a great option for breakfast, a light lunch, or an afternoon reset.

I’ve been making smoothies for 13 years now—it’s the easiest ways to get fruits and vegetables into my body. I can pack in so many healthy ingredients (superfoods, leafy green vegetables and low-sugar fruits) and happily sip it down because I’ve learned the proper way to balance it.

blender with ingredients to make strawberry smoothie.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Strawberries (fresh or frozen): The star of the smoothie. Strawberries add bright flavor, natural sweetness, and vitamin C. Frozen strawberries will make the smoothie thicker, while fresh keep it lighter. You can also make my strawberry watermelon smoothie and my strawberry banana smoothie with any extras!
  • Frozen cherries: Cherries deepen the flavor and add subtle sweetness without overpowering the strawberries. They also give the smoothie a beautiful color.
  • Cashew milk: Mild, creamy, and naturally dairy-free. Cashew milk blends smoothly and lets the fruit flavors shine. You can swap with any non-dairy milk of your choice.
  • Raw cashews: These add healthy fats and help create that creamy, satisfying texture. A small amount goes a long way.
  • Collagen peptides: An easy way to add protein without changing the flavor. You can leave this out or swap in your favorite protein powder or yogurt.

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie Video

Follow along in my video demo to see the simple blending order that creates the creamiest smoothie. Start with the liquid on the bottom to help everything puree smoothly, then add ingredients from soft to firm. It’s an easy method that helps your blender work more efficiently every time.

Recipe Tips

Now that you’ve watch me make it, I’m sure you’re ready to go for it. Here’s a few tips to help you make this smoothie on your own:

  • No high-speed blender? Soak the raw cashews in warm water for 10 minutes before blending.
  • For a thicker smoothie: Use frozen strawberries and frozen cherries. You can also add 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower to bulk it up without adding additional fruit (I do this all the time).
  • For a lighter texture: Use fresh strawberries and add a splash more cashew milk.
  • Layer it right: I recommend adding ingredients to your blender in the order of my recipes to help blend everything nicely. Get more of my go-to blending tips in my how to make a smoothie guide.

I made my own cashew milk first and let it set in the fridge until cold. As a result, I didn’t need to add the 2 tbls of raw cashews. The thickness was perfect without it. The strawberries and cherries were a perfect blend.

My husband and I really enjoyed this smoothie. We have really enjoyed the 10 day challenge.

  3. I omitted the cashews as i forgot them on my list. I added a banana and spinach and it was delicious

I forgot to replenish my cherry supply and had only bought oat milk so Oat milk, cashews, strawberries and raspberries it was. Added a bit of maple syrup and collagen protein. Not too bad. Gonna have to try again when I restock my cherries.

I added 1 scoop of protein powder along with 1 & 1/2 pitted dates to the original recipe.
    Really smooth & tasty.

Super yummy! I really enjoyed the nutty flavor with the strawberry flavor. I’m not a cherry fan so was glad they weren’t overpowering. I didn’t have cashew milk so used almond milk with the cashews. I’ll make this again.

Today’s challenge is ok. It is thick. I can only taste the strawberries. I would like to have some of the flavors from the cherries come through. I froze the cashew milk as well as my fruit. The smoothie was nice and cold like I prefer my smoothies. I added protein powder to make it more filling. I am not sure if I should have soaked the tablespoon of cashews or not. Something got stuck in the corners of my Vitalmix blender. This is our first time using cashews and cashew milk. I seem to be having trouble posting my comments.

Strawberry smoothie with cashews and cherries. I don’t know, I think I would call this a strawberry-cherry smoothie. I didn’t have cashew milk… Kind of hard to find where I am. So I used almond milk but instead of 2 tablespoons of cashews I used about a quarter cup. And added a few extra strawberries and cherries into the mix. When you’re measuring fruit you can’t get a true measurement so I add a few extra to fill in those gaps. And if it doesn’t seem to blend as well I just add a little more almond milk to make it more liquidy. Sometimes when doing a smoothie with nuts I’ll add some nut butter like sunflower butter, and some oatmeal and make it a full on meal. I like the smoothie it’s similar to ones I’ve made. And I added a bit of protein. It’s a good morning breakfast smoothie!

So I made this for me and my boyfriend. The first thing he asks is did I use banana. When I told him “No,” he tells me, “Ah – that’s what’s missing.” I told him that was the point but he still felt it was missing something. I couldn’t find cashew milk so I subbed almond milk. I liked it. There was a subtle strawberry taste mixed with the slight nut flavor. I didn’t really taste the cherry. I would make it again but my boyfriend would pass lol
