This healthy strawberry smoothie is proof that simple ingredients can still feel satisfying. Juicy strawberries and cherries bring natural sweetness, while cashew milk and raw cashews create a rich, creamy texture without dairy. It’s balanced, refreshing, and easy to digest—making it a great option for breakfast, a light lunch, or an afternoon reset.
I’ve been making smoothies for 13 years now—it’s the easiest ways to get fruits and vegetables into my body. I can pack in so many healthy ingredients (superfoods, leafy green vegetables and low-sugar fruits) and happily sip it down because I’ve learned the proper way to balance it.

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Strawberries (fresh or frozen): The star of the smoothie. Strawberries add bright flavor, natural sweetness, and vitamin C. Frozen strawberries will make the smoothie thicker, while fresh keep it lighter. You can also make my strawberry watermelon smoothie and my strawberry banana smoothie with any extras!
- Frozen cherries: Cherries deepen the flavor and add subtle sweetness without overpowering the strawberries. They also give the smoothie a beautiful color.
- Cashew milk: Mild, creamy, and naturally dairy-free. Cashew milk blends smoothly and lets the fruit flavors shine. You can swap with any non-dairy milk of your choice.
- Raw cashews: These add healthy fats and help create that creamy, satisfying texture. A small amount goes a long way.
- Collagen peptides: An easy way to add protein without changing the flavor. You can leave this out or swap in your favorite protein powder or yogurt.

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie Video
Follow along in my video demo to see the simple blending order that creates the creamiest smoothie. Start with the liquid on the bottom to help everything puree smoothly, then add ingredients from soft to firm. It’s an easy method that helps your blender work more efficiently every time.
Recipe Tips
Now that you’ve watch me make it, I’m sure you’re ready to go for it. Here’s a few tips to help you make this smoothie on your own:
- No high-speed blender? Soak the raw cashews in warm water for 10 minutes before blending.
- For a thicker smoothie: Use frozen strawberries and frozen cherries. You can also add 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower to bulk it up without adding additional fruit (I do this all the time).
- For a lighter texture: Use fresh strawberries and add a splash more cashew milk.
- Layer it right: I recommend adding ingredients to your blender in the order of my recipes to help blend everything nicely. Get more of my go-to blending tips in my how to make a smoothie guide.
Ingredient Variations
This strawberry smoothie is a great reminder that balance matters—natural sweetness, healthy fats, and just enough protein to help you feel nourished and satisfied.
- Switch the milk: Almond milk or oat milk work well if you don’t have cashew milk.
- Make it vegan: Skip the collagen and use a plant-based protein powder.
- Boost the fiber: Add 1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flaxseed.
- Add leafy green vegetables: Blend in 1 cup fresh spinach for extra nutrients without changing the flavor.

Notes
- Cashews are used for creaminess, yet can be subbed with oats and oat milk, or almonds and almond milk
- Use at least one frozen fruit for a refreshingly cool smoothie.
- To up the fiber content + help your body break down the natural fruit sugar in this recipe, add up to 1 cup of spinach or 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower to the smoothie.

My Vitamix had no trouble with the cashews after a brief boil. First time making nut milk but won’t be the last. I appreciated the less sweet smoothie.
Didn’t care for this one. Very bland and not sweet. Had to dress it up.
Wonderful flavor and filling with added protein
Wow! I love cashews in a smoothie anyway (good benefits, ya know?) and sooo tasty! The antioxidant cherries were amazing: who doesn’t need antioxidants, and I never knew yummy cherries had them!
I really enjoyed my strawberry milkshake for breakfast this morning 🙂 I love this as is but next time, I think I’ll take it up a notch and add half a banana for an extra creamy and slightly sweeter take on this smoothie.
I appreciate how you give alternatives for your recipes based on personal preference. I made this with coconut milk because I had no cashew milk. Both my daughter and I like dit, but felt their was something that tasted odd about it. So, I added the banana (per your alternative for those who prefer sweeter) and we loved it! Thank you for including so much more than just the recipes! All the information you include is so empowering as well.
This one was pretty good. My 11 year saw it had cashews took 1 sip and claimed he didn’t like it, but we’ll try it again.
I love a good strawberry smoothie like this one. I used a combination of almond and oat milk because that’s what I had on hand. I added some frozen cauliflower to get some veggies.
Love this recipe! Such a nostalgic flavor. I used to order this flavor shake at fast food restaurants with the crap ingredients. This recipe tastes too good to be true. Definitely a healthy gulty pleasure for me! So good!
I changed the cherries to blueberries (no cherries available) and changed the cashews milk and cashews to unsweet almond milk and almonds….turned out pretty good, will try again; maybe next time with cherries and cashews
This was super creamy and I loved the flavor. I added some cottage cheese to mine and it tasted like a strawberry milkshake!
I enjoyed this smoothie. I thought the strawberries were going to make it too sweet but it was just right for me. We were intending to make the cashew milk but did not get to it the day before and ended up using almond milk.
Very tasty, didn’t have cashew milk – substituted oak milk.
This is a very tasty smoothie. I like the creaminess of it with the added nut milk and cashews. I enjoy strawberries and cherries, so this is a favorite of mine. The added protein powder makes it last longer.
Anything with strawberries has to be good. We are starting a heatwave here today….this was so refreshing! A great mid-morning “pick me up!”
Love the cherries and strawberries together and the cashews make it taste creamy. Definitely will make it again! Added hemp hearts, Brazil nuts, collagen and spinach as they always go in my smoothie.
Not much to add except to say, Yum,!!
I really liked this smoothie. If I make it again, I might add a banana, but it’s very good as is.
So creamy and delicious! The milk makes it more filling and the fruit makes it so sweet and delicious! I adjusted the fruit slightly as I was low on strawberries. Still so good!!
This smoothie is creamy and delicious! I love the combination of the strawberries and cherries with the nuttiness of the cashews. I added spinach as well for my extra greens during the day. This is definitely a new favorite!!
This is really great!! And the cashews were perfect for the creaminess to come out. I did add a carrot and that not only helped with adding a vegetable but the color was pretty!! Can’t wait to show it off on FB
