This healthy strawberry smoothie is proof that simple ingredients can still feel satisfying. Juicy strawberries and cherries bring natural sweetness, while cashew milk and raw cashews create a rich, creamy texture without dairy. It’s balanced, refreshing, and easy to digest—making it a great option for breakfast, a light lunch, or an afternoon reset.

I’ve been making smoothies for 13 years now—it’s the easiest ways to get fruits and vegetables into my body. I can pack in so many healthy ingredients (superfoods, leafy green vegetables and low-sugar fruits) and happily sip it down because I’ve learned the proper way to balance it.

blender with ingredients to make strawberry smoothie.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Strawberries (fresh or frozen): The star of the smoothie. Strawberries add bright flavor, natural sweetness, and vitamin C. Frozen strawberries will make the smoothie thicker, while fresh keep it lighter. You can also make my strawberry watermelon smoothie and my strawberry banana smoothie with any extras!
  • Frozen cherries: Cherries deepen the flavor and add subtle sweetness without overpowering the strawberries. They also give the smoothie a beautiful color.
  • Cashew milk: Mild, creamy, and naturally dairy-free. Cashew milk blends smoothly and lets the fruit flavors shine. You can swap with any non-dairy milk of your choice.
  • Raw cashews: These add healthy fats and help create that creamy, satisfying texture. A small amount goes a long way.
  • Collagen peptides: An easy way to add protein without changing the flavor. You can leave this out or swap in your favorite protein powder or yogurt.

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie Video

Follow along in my video demo to see the simple blending order that creates the creamiest smoothie. Start with the liquid on the bottom to help everything puree smoothly, then add ingredients from soft to firm. It’s an easy method that helps your blender work more efficiently every time.

Recipe Tips

Now that you’ve watch me make it, I’m sure you’re ready to go for it. Here’s a few tips to help you make this smoothie on your own:

  • No high-speed blender? Soak the raw cashews in warm water for 10 minutes before blending.
  • For a thicker smoothie: Use frozen strawberries and frozen cherries. You can also add 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower to bulk it up without adding additional fruit (I do this all the time).
  • For a lighter texture: Use fresh strawberries and add a splash more cashew milk.
  • Layer it right: I recommend adding ingredients to your blender in the order of my recipes to help blend everything nicely. Get more of my go-to blending tips in my how to make a smoothie guide.

This was good. Loved the taste. Added more cashews instead of milk.

  1. Did not have cashew milk so had to use Coconut milk from the carton. Even with the substitute the drink was delicious.

    1. This was good. I added more cashews and water. Eliminated the milk.

Strawberry smoothie is very creamy but not very flavorful. I didn’t have cashew milk so I added some cashew powder that I had bought for another recipe. I didn’t care for the flavor from the cashew powder. I can’t get cashew milk so I will use almond milk or oat milk in the future. I think a banana or dates may have pumped up the flavor.

Tasty, but I had to add a little more cashew milk in order to get it to blend, as it was a little thick, which made it a little more cashew-forward than strawberry-forward. Will definitely play around with ratios and add-ins in the future.

Loved the strawberry smoothie. I soaked the cashews in my protein unsweetened almond milk overnight. The smoothie was SO creamy. Of course, added my kale and protein powder, per my usual. Ordered the coconutbowls yesterday! Cant wait to put my smoothie in itBummer,… forgot to add cauliflower… will have to do next time!

I love-love-love the cashews in this recipe! I don’t know where Jen’s cashew cream has been all my life but now that I am confident in harnessing the plant-based power of cashews this recipe will definitely be a keeper!

Another amazing smoothie! I used Oatmilk since that’s what I drink. This is the best Strawberry Smoothie I’ve ever had!

  7. Today’s smoothie was perfect! I ended up with a strange texture in the Day 4 Cinnamon Date Smoothie when I subbed my homemade cashew milk for almond milk. I was hesitant about using cashew milk in today’s challenge but finally realized that I have been using a cup less water when making my cashew milk so it is extra creamy for using in coffee, oatmeal!, etc. In today’s smoothie I used a cup of my cashew milk and a half cup of coconut water and did not add the cashews. The challenge is certainly expanding my smoothie knowledge as to ingredients and improving my vitamix skills! Thank you.

Another winner. The strawberry smoothie is thick, creamy, refreshing and best of all delicious. Will be making this all summer.

Another great combination I never could think to do. Of course added SGS protein. Super yummy

Surprisingly unsweet. I wonder what it would be like with some dates or honey + some vanilla extract? Also the nutty flavor from the cashews was odd.

I used frozen strawberries, skipped the nuts, and substituted Black Seal rum instead of milk. I always loved a good frozen strawberry daiquiri!
Okay, I also tried some as written, I’d rather eat cashews separately, on their own. So, I’ll give it 4-stars.

    2. There’s only one way to find out, Theresa! 😉 Sounds delish!

I LOVE this smoothie! However, I changed it up a little. Added spinach and collagen powder, and deleted the cashews. Will definitely make again!

      Love this smoothie.
I added collegen powder and protein powder.
      Very creamy and tasty.

My husband blended it up and it was okay. After reviewing the recipe again, I have a feeling he just used water since we don’t have cashew milk. We have cashew cream “ice” cubes, but he wouldn’t think to add a few of those in to make cashew milk. It tasted like strawberries! I’ll have to try it again to get the strawberries and cream effect. 🙂

The Blend tasted a bit bland. I did taste the nuttiness of the cashews. It was ok!
