This healthy strawberry smoothie is proof that simple ingredients can still feel satisfying. Juicy strawberries and cherries bring natural sweetness, while cashew milk and raw cashews create a rich, creamy texture without dairy. It’s balanced, refreshing, and easy to digest—making it a great option for breakfast, a light lunch, or an afternoon reset.
I’ve been making smoothies for 13 years now—it’s the easiest ways to get fruits and vegetables into my body. I can pack in so many healthy ingredients (superfoods, leafy green vegetables and low-sugar fruits) and happily sip it down because I’ve learned the proper way to balance it.

Ingredients You’ll Need
- Strawberries (fresh or frozen): The star of the smoothie. Strawberries add bright flavor, natural sweetness, and vitamin C. Frozen strawberries will make the smoothie thicker, while fresh keep it lighter. You can also make my strawberry watermelon smoothie and my strawberry banana smoothie with any extras!
- Frozen cherries: Cherries deepen the flavor and add subtle sweetness without overpowering the strawberries. They also give the smoothie a beautiful color.
- Cashew milk: Mild, creamy, and naturally dairy-free. Cashew milk blends smoothly and lets the fruit flavors shine. You can swap with any non-dairy milk of your choice.
- Raw cashews: These add healthy fats and help create that creamy, satisfying texture. A small amount goes a long way.
- Collagen peptides: An easy way to add protein without changing the flavor. You can leave this out or swap in your favorite protein powder or yogurt.

How to Make a Strawberry Smoothie Video
Follow along in my video demo to see the simple blending order that creates the creamiest smoothie. Start with the liquid on the bottom to help everything puree smoothly, then add ingredients from soft to firm. It’s an easy method that helps your blender work more efficiently every time.
Recipe Tips
Now that you’ve watch me make it, I’m sure you’re ready to go for it. Here’s a few tips to help you make this smoothie on your own:
- No high-speed blender? Soak the raw cashews in warm water for 10 minutes before blending.
- For a thicker smoothie: Use frozen strawberries and frozen cherries. You can also add 1/4 cup frozen cauliflower to bulk it up without adding additional fruit (I do this all the time).
- For a lighter texture: Use fresh strawberries and add a splash more cashew milk.
- Layer it right: I recommend adding ingredients to your blender in the order of my recipes to help blend everything nicely. Get more of my go-to blending tips in my how to make a smoothie guide.
Ingredient Variations
This strawberry smoothie is a great reminder that balance matters—natural sweetness, healthy fats, and just enough protein to help you feel nourished and satisfied.
- Switch the milk: Almond milk or oat milk work well if you don’t have cashew milk.
- Make it vegan: Skip the collagen and use a plant-based protein powder.
- Boost the fiber: Add 1 tablespoon chia seeds or ground flaxseed.
- Add leafy green vegetables: Blend in 1 cup fresh spinach for extra nutrients without changing the flavor.

- Cashews are used for creaminess, yet can be subbed with oats and oat milk, or almonds and almond milk
- Use at least one frozen fruit for a refreshingly cool smoothie.
- To up the fiber content + help your body break down the natural fruit sugar in this recipe, add up to 1 cup of spinach or 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower to the smoothie.

I changed this smoothie by omitting the cashews (don’t like). Used water and added leafy greens instead.
Smooth creamy and cold! Love it. I enjoy cashew milk with fruit in smoothies. Will make this all summer!
Loved it. Will do it again
Great summer dessert. I used frozen strawberries & protein powder to make it creamier.
Strawberries are one if those fruits I need sweetened. Luckily we had just used dates yesteday so I popped a couple in and that did the trick for me! Yummm!
I changed the recipe a bit -. Blended almond milk and frozen strawberries and added avocado with scoop of the protein – it turned out delicious !!
So refreshing- I loved it
Good but not my favorite. I might experiment a bit in the future, subbing a medjool date or 2 for the sweet cherries.
Today’s Smoothie Was Delicious, Creamy And Not To Sweet 🙂 With Just The Right Amount Of Sweetness From The Strawberries And Cherries. I Added Vanilla Protein Powder For That Little Bit Of Extra Protein. I Am Getting More Comfortable Adding Blended Raw Cashews To My Smoothies For The Creamy Texture. The Color Of My Smoothie Reminded Me Of The Nestle Quik Strawberry Milk From When I Was A Kid, So Pretty. I Will Make This Smoothie Again And Add A Little Spinach 🙂
Nothing I like better than a strawberry, cherry, cashew milk smoothie. I am sorry for not following the rules all the way, but I can’t stand waste. I did try it and was looking around as I was enjoying it, and saw a banana getting a little too brown so I pour my smoothie back in the Vitamix and added the banana. Oh Boy, that is my most favorite of all smoothies. I love this challenge because I get to make. different smoothies than normal. Sometime is like what should I make this morning? The. challenge has that all worked out for me. Love That!
Glad we’re making mornings a little bit easier for you, Laura! 🙂 So glad you’re doing the Summer Smoothie Challenge with us!
Mmmmm!! I tried this two ways. For dessert was soaked cashews, water, frozen strawberries and cherries – delicious! For breakfast used the same as the first plus added chia seeds, ground flax, spinach and frozen radish tops (greens) – also great!
Yum! Another winner. I love the taste of summer, very refreshing.
This strawberry smoothie was very good. I liked that it wasn’t too sweet. I also wanted a little more umph to the smoothie so I added some plant based protein and a handfull of spinach. This will definitely stay in the rotation.
Loved this flavor combination!
Loved this smoothie! Anything with cherries & strawberries is fabulous.
Smooth and tasty. Love the strawberry cherry combo. The cashews give it body.
It was my least favorite so far but not bad Not sure what I would change. Maybe more cherries. Love that you sent us a glycemic list. Thank you
Love a good fresh strawberry smoothie. I used oat milk as that is what I had. Worked great with the cashews for the added creaminess. Never thought about adding cherries. Both fruit are available now so extra special and probably my go to while the fruit is still fresh.

This was fantastic! Added spinach to cut back on the sweetness a bit and add fiber. Such a fun one.
This was very good. I did not have any almonds, so I added a banana to the recipe.
