Table of Contents

Ingredients You’ll Need
This high calorie smoothie recipe is inspired by my favorite treat at Disney World—the Dole Whip.
- Full-fat coconut milk: Provides rich, calorie-dense fats that help boost overall energy intake. It also gives this smoothie its luscious, satisfying mouthfeel. Explore my recommend coconut milk brands.
- Pineapple juice: Enhances sweetness and helps everything blend smoothly. A small amount goes a long way in adding flavor without overpowering the smoothie.
- Frozen pineapple: Adds natural sweetness and a bright, tropical flavor. Using frozen fruit also creates a thick, milkshake-like texture without ice. You can always cut pineapple and freeze yourself.
- Banana: Acts as a natural sweetener and thickener. Bananas add carbohydrates that support healthy weight gain and make the smoothie extra creamy. Freeze bananas for an extra thick smoothie.
- Protein powder: Supports muscle maintenance and growth, which is important when weight gain is the goal. Choose a protein you enjoy and digest well. I recommend my homemade protein powder or whey protein isolate to turn this smoothie into a meal.

How to Make a Weight Gain Smoothie
When you need to gain weight, it can be difficult to get additional calories from regular meals. Adding a high-calorie smoothie to your diet is a great option to maximize calorie intake. Here’s how to make a smoothie in three steps:
- Shake the can of coconut milk vigorously to combine the fat and the milk before opening and pouring it into a measuring cup. If the contents are still a little separated when you open the can, whisk until the cream is well incorporated into the liquid.
- Add all of the ingredients to the blender and blend until smooth and creamy. To thin the consistency, add a little more pineapple juice or filtered water.
- Serve in a glass with a straw or spoon, depending on how thick you made it.

More High-Calorie Smoothie Recipes
Here’s more recipes I have that are higher in calories, yet packed with nutrients:
- Vanilla protein shake: Perfect to refuel your body after a workout.
- Chocolate peanut butter smoothie: Oozing with peanut butter goodness and oh-so-filling.
- Almond butter smoothie: Swap almond milk with full-fat coconut milk and enjoy this creamy smoothie that tastes like an almond butter and jelly sandwich.
- PCOS smoothie: A creamy pumpkin smoothie that will fill you up and fuel your day.
