Grad stories

I'm sleeping better, I'm happier and have more energy.

I've been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and doing strength training, which feels great. I've lost 7 pounds and have a better outlook because I don't have as much inflammation and fatigue.

★★★★★Lynette C.

A note from Jen

If you’re on the fence, I was too

Would the recipes actually be good? Would I just bounce right back to my old habits? Was it worth eating 100% plant-based for three weeks? Then about eight days in, I was hooked. Less bloated. Sleeping like a rock. Energy through the roof.

Most cleanses end and leave you exactly where you started — or worse, hooked on a product you have to rebuy. This one is different on purpose: you learn to cook real food, so you walk away with skills that don’t run out when the box is empty.

And if you’re nervous about the food? Remember — this is literally what I do. I make plant-based food that’s so good you forget it’s “healthy.” Because healthy should be tasty.

Common Questions

Will I be hungry while on a detox body cleanse?

Not likely. The recipe portions are deliberately generous to accommodate even the largest appetites. This is not a starvation diet, it is a celebration of food, flavor, and abundance. We are not counting calories. You will be eating three to five times each day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner, if you choose to.) This cleanse is not designed to starve you, and you’re not limited in the number of times you eat, or the amount you eat – only in what you eat. If you do get hunger pangs, make sure that you’re really hungry, and not just bored or thirsty. If it’s a case of real hunger, go for one of the bonus snack recipes, a piece of fruit, or a small handful of nuts, or seeds. One tip to avoid hunger is to chew your green smoothie. This may sound silly, but the chewing action signals your body that food is on the way, and triggers the digestive processes.

Do I need to buy any powders, shakes, or supplements?

Nope — and that’s the whole point. This cleanse runs entirely on real food you buy at your regular grocery store. No proprietary box, no capsules, no subscription. You’ll learn to cook with whole ingredients so your results actually last once the 21 days are up.

How much will the groceries cost on the 21-day cleanse?

You may have many of the staple ingredients in your kitchen already (avocado oil, raw cashews, maple syrup, ground cumin, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc). If you do not, the first shop typically costs about $150. Then, once your kitchen is set up, we estimate the cost of the produce to be between $100 per week. If you choose to supplement the plant-based recipes with high quality animal protein like organic chicken breast or cage free eggs, your grocery bill will be higher.

And remember — you’re buying real groceries, not a $400+ box of powders you’ll run out of. Most of this is food you’d be shopping for anyway, just put to much better use.

Can I have coffee and tea while cleansing?

If you struggle with getting quality sleep, we advise omitting coffee throughout the cleanse. You will get the best results and many cleanse grads choose to stay off coffee after the cleanse because they feel so great. If you and coffee aren’t ready to break up, we suggest having just one cup in the morning to support quality rest and sleep.

What if I can’t have certain nuts, veggies, fruits, etc.?

If you want the full benefit of cleansing your body, stick with the plan as close as possible. Our detox meals are crafted by our holistic nutritionist for optimal cleansing. This is not a vacation, it’s a cleanse. Yet of course if you truly cannot stand cilantro, turmeric or fennel, you can substitute them out for something you do enjoy, or choose another meal.

Can I go out to eat while cleansing?

Of course— life must go on! The 21-Day Cleanse is a flexible program that you can follow while living your life with family and friends. Using the weekly meal plans and recipes will help you get great results. But, you can still get good results by sticking to the recommended foods lists. You can eat “off meal plan”, eat out, and travel during the program— feel free to ask for tips inside the community to help you the most.

What are the side effects of the cleanse?

You may experience short-term symptoms like: headaches, bloating, muscle cramps, skin irritations, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, or change in bowel frequency. These symptoms are completely normal and expected.

It usually takes between 2-5 days to complete the withdrawal phase of the 21-Day Cleanse, yet it’s absolutely worth it. Giving your body a break from stimulants will allow your organs to heal and your body to recharge fully. Remember, these symptoms are proof that the cleanse is working and your body is getting the care it needs.

How long does the food prep take?

You’ll definitely spend more time in the kitchen throughout the cleanse. In some ways, this is like a crash course plant-based cooking school. I highly suggest following our prep guide to make most of the smoothies, snacks and meals over the weekend. Breakfast is a smoothie (10 minutes), lunch is a reheated soup or quick salad (15 minutes) and dinners will range from 15 minutes – 1 hour to prepare. The good news is, the dinners repeat so you make once and reheat for another evening to give you a break in the kitchen.

I have a crazy busy schedule, is this realistic for me?

We know all about busy schedules here, which is why we’ve provided a weekend prep guide that saves you tons of time during the week. If you’re working and have a full schedule, expect to spend 3-4 hours shopping and prepping on the weekends to make each cleanse week stress-free and enjoyable. The cleanse gives you a wonderful opportunity to really listen to your body. It’s an individual experience that differs for everyone. Depending on the level of toxicity in your body, there may be some less- than-amazing symptoms in the first 3–5 days, such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin irritations, etc. Once you hit day five, these should only be distant memories, and you’ll be well on your way to greatness. But some people sail through the entire cleansing period with no side effects at all. You may feel amazing throughout the entire cleanse, or your energy may wax and wane a little.

Who shouldn’t do a cleanse?

This cleanse is great for most people, yet you should avoid cleansing in the following situations: advanced cancer, under 16 years of age, if you have an eating disorder, kidney or liver disease, and if you’re underweight. If you have a blood sugar regulation issue (diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) or any other medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking a cleanse. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you can absolutely do the cleanse with some modifications. If this is you, let us know and we can give you specific tweaks to the program to make sure you’re benefitting your baby and body.

Can I workout during the cleanse?

You may find that you have more energy than normal—and more motivation! Why waste it? Get moving! Be mindful that you may need to take it down a notch though as your body adjust to the new way of eating. If you normally exercise fairly intensely, reduce your output until you feel strong and energized.

If you don’t normally work out, you would do well to include some regular walking, yoga, swimming or gardening during this time. Try to sneak in some incidental exercise, such as getting off the train or bus one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way. Or park further away from the entrance to the grocery store and walk.

Can my husband do this with me?

Absolutely. My husband loves our cleanses — the clear plans, the tasty recipes, and how good he feels by the end. Just double the grocery list and recipes so there’s enough for you both.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a 7-day money back guarantee. Enroll now and get 7 days to go through the Week 1 Nutrition Plan, share it with your doctor, try a recipe or three, and say hello to your fellow cleansers in the private support group. If you decide it’s not for you, send us an email within 7 days of purchase and I’ll refund you. I’m that confident that when you commit to this cleanse, you’ll see results… and keep them going. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain when you go plant-based for 21 days.

I’m a long-time vegetarian but rarely eat fruit and tend to grab convenient (aka processed) foods. During the cleanse, I felt incredible – great energy and mood. The recipes are much more intricate than what I usually prepare and it shows in the complex and fabulous flavors. They were all SO GOOD. I’m a fan 100%! The weekly prep was super helpful. I skipped the pre-cleanse for the most part bc I started a bit late. I was more than full during the cleanse week but a little hungry most days on the post-cleanse. Loved the group chats. I am looking forward to doing a lot more of these with you. Thank you!

The cleanse went good overall, had a fair amount of stomach pain about three days into the cleanse week, but it passed and I felt great after that!! I’ve enjoyed using more fruit and veg in normal every day dinners and lunches… noticed a lot less redness in my skin as well:)

I joined the cleanse as a newer vegan wanting to cleanse my body and get rid of cravings. I thoroughly enjoyed the Winter Cleanse. I felt great throughout the week and found the recipes to be very satisfying and delicious. The structure was perfect and I was never hungry. The prep was very helpful to make sure I was set up for success and the group calls and check-ins helped to answer any questions or concerns I had. I lost a few pounds and eliminated my sugar cravings. My confidence in the kitchen is great and I used my blender regularly… so much so that I decided to upgrade to a Vitamix! In addition I had my labwork done immediately following and my cholesterol numbers are dropping. I feel amazing and look forward to continuing with Rawk the Year!

I felt pretty good during the cleanse after the second day. I have done these before with you so I had a good idea of how it worked. Weekly prep is definitely a plus! I was hungry early afternoon. I did not take advantage of the group check ins and coaching calls. My schedule did not allow that unfortunately. I definitely gave my blender a workout. I felt less bloated and cravings definitely lessened. I felt more energized and felt I was not as tired in the evening.

I joined the cleanse to feel my best and jump start my healthy eating goals. I most appreciated the detailed shopping lists and meal plans. They made sticking with the cleanse much easier. Though I had a couple “cheat” moments, knowing I had the recipes and ingredients on hand made it so much easier to get back on track. I definitely use my kitchen aid blender much more. And my husband now has confidence to make smoothies as well. We have continued to incorporate a smoothie into our each day. Helps keep those sugar cravings under control.

After doing the smoothie challenge, I decided to try the cleanse and get more focused on plant-based dishes. At first the cleanse program was overwhelming but the structure and group check-ins helped me tremendously. I did struggle with the weekly prep but spread it out by doing the prep over a few days. For me, the stamina needed to do the shopping and the prep was too much. I decided to not prep the smoothies since they were very easy to throw together. I was surprised by how filling each day was. I am ‘Kitchen’ challenged! But now I can get in there and chop, chop, chop. And I have not craved my favorite, Dots Pretzels! I am still motivated and currently doing the pre-cleanse to get me to 21 days. I have lost 5 lbs. so down to 105 which is so cool. And I have so much more energy and sleep like a rock.

I wasn’t able to stick to it completely because of a minor medical procedure halfway through. I had to fast for a day, and then had to reintroduce foods slowly, so it wasn’t the best time to do the cleanse. However, I made a number of the recipes which were great, and am going to do the cleanse again. I think the recipes are super, and they take the guesswork out of what to prepare. When I did the cleanse, I was not hungry and I didn’t have any cravings. I feel like the recipes were so good that if I had more recipes I wouldn’t have any trouble sticking to a regular healthy diet. I am really motivated to continue prepping healthier foods.

I got off to a slow start and fell a little behind. I really appreciate the ability to read others comments/insights and file them away for later. Also, being able to print off the guides allows me to finish this out even though my start was behind the schedule. I’m feeling lighter and happier with the increased plant based menu. Thanks for all of these!!

I did the cleanse to lose weight and undergo a the cleanse to get back on nourishing, mostly plant-based eating. I LOVED the pre-cleanse and post-cleanse weeks, making this a 3 week cleanse! I couldn’t make the check-ins and calls, but did watch the one right before the post-cleanse week and it was incredibly helpful! It was inspiring, informative and gave me great tools to use moving forward. Wonderful job, team SGS! My blender use skyrocketed baby!:)

I did the cleanse to get a jump start on losing weight. During the cleanse I felt all sorts of emotions from excitement to “why me.” However, the program is so easy to follow from the prep, execution and support structure that I have able to stay on track. The results I’ve noticed so far are that I look forward to the preparation of the meals. It has already become a habit and the food actually tastes good. I also feel so much clearer in my mind. I didn’t even realize that I had brain fog and now that I am clearer my experience of life is so much better. Oh…I have lost 9 pounds too.

I joined the cleanse because although I have been plant based for years and eat really healthy most of the time, I start 6 days of the week with one of your smoothies, I usually eat a big salad for lunch, tons of veggies throughout the day), I realized that I was drinking too much and snacking too much at night. I have been having a hard time relaxing at night without a drink and when I have a drink I want a bowl of pretzels to go with it. I haven’t been feeling at my best for a while. I’m often tired, foggy, and cranky. I’m constantly feeling either bloated or dealing with acid reflux and I knew I needed to change and a the cleanse but change was just too hard. On the final night of the deadline to sign up, I decided to go for it. I thought maybe this would be the push I needed to help me deal with my cravings and get my health back on track. The first 3 days was really hard for me. I was emotional, exhausted, and hungry. On day 4, I feel like something just clicked and I had tons of energy and my mood drastically changed. I absolutely loved every recipe, everything was super flavorful and delicious. I will definitely continue to make them afterwards. The prep was very helpful. I felt very organized and prepared for the week ahead. I plan on keeping the meal prep up as I feel like I really benefitted from it and I’ll make healthier snack choices if I’m prepared. I am so happy I did this for myself. It was tough at times but totally worth it. I’m not craving the late night carbs and I’m fine with not having a drink, as long as I have an herbal tea to sip on instead. I feel motivated to keep these cleanses up throughout the year and I finally feel like I am in control of my health and my body, instead of feeling like food and drink controls me.

I came into the cleanse 2 weeks prepped from a previous cleanse so it was very very easy to continue, the main difference being that this cleanse is vegan and the prior one was not (though they eliminate 95% of the same foods.) I felt that I lost strength towards the end of the week as I was still actively working out at least 4 days a week. I wasn’t hungry but was craving more protein and as soon as I ate some, my workouts improved. I noticed some weight loss and better energy!
