Grad stories

I'm sleeping better, I'm happier and have more energy.

I've been walking every day with my dog or by myself with a book and doing strength training, which feels great. I've lost 7 pounds and have a better outlook because I don't have as much inflammation and fatigue.

A note from Jen

If you’re on the fence, I was too

Would the recipes actually be good? Would I just bounce right back to my old habits? Was it worth eating 100% plant-based for three weeks? Then about eight days in, I was hooked. Less bloated. Sleeping like a rock. Energy through the roof.

Most cleanses end and leave you exactly where you started — or worse, hooked on a product you have to rebuy. This one is different on purpose: you learn to cook real food, so you walk away with skills that don’t run out when the box is empty.

And if you’re nervous about the food? Remember — this is literally what I do. I make plant-based food that’s so good you forget it’s “healthy.” Because healthy should be tasty.

Common Questions

Will I be hungry while on a detox body cleanse?

Not likely. The recipe portions are deliberately generous to accommodate even the largest appetites. This is not a starvation diet, it is a celebration of food, flavor, and abundance. We are not counting calories. You will be eating three to five times each day (breakfast, mid-morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack, and dinner, if you choose to.) This cleanse is not designed to starve you, and you’re not limited in the number of times you eat, or the amount you eat – only in what you eat. If you do get hunger pangs, make sure that you’re really hungry, and not just bored or thirsty. If it’s a case of real hunger, go for one of the bonus snack recipes, a piece of fruit, or a small handful of nuts, or seeds. One tip to avoid hunger is to chew your green smoothie. This may sound silly, but the chewing action signals your body that food is on the way, and triggers the digestive processes.

Do I need to buy any powders, shakes, or supplements?

Nope — and that’s the whole point. This cleanse runs entirely on real food you buy at your regular grocery store. No proprietary box, no capsules, no subscription. You’ll learn to cook with whole ingredients so your results actually last once the 21 days are up.

How much will the groceries cost on the 21-day cleanse?

You may have many of the staple ingredients in your kitchen already (avocado oil, raw cashews, maple syrup, ground cumin, nutritional yeast, coconut oil, etc). If you do not, the first shop typically costs about $150. Then, once your kitchen is set up, we estimate the cost of the produce to be between $100 per week. If you choose to supplement the plant-based recipes with high quality animal protein like organic chicken breast or cage free eggs, your grocery bill will be higher.

And remember — you’re buying real groceries, not a $400+ box of powders you’ll run out of. Most of this is food you’d be shopping for anyway, just put to much better use.

Can I have coffee and tea while cleansing?

If you struggle with getting quality sleep, we advise omitting coffee throughout the cleanse. You will get the best results and many cleanse grads choose to stay off coffee after the cleanse because they feel so great. If you and coffee aren’t ready to break up, we suggest having just one cup in the morning to support quality rest and sleep.

What if I can’t have certain nuts, veggies, fruits, etc.?

If you want the full benefit of cleansing your body, stick with the plan as close as possible. Our detox meals are crafted by our holistic nutritionist for optimal cleansing. This is not a vacation, it’s a cleanse. Yet of course if you truly cannot stand cilantro, turmeric or fennel, you can substitute them out for something you do enjoy, or choose another meal.

Can I go out to eat while cleansing?

Of course— life must go on! The 21-Day Cleanse is a flexible program that you can follow while living your life with family and friends. Using the weekly meal plans and recipes will help you get great results. But, you can still get good results by sticking to the recommended foods lists. You can eat “off meal plan”, eat out, and travel during the program— feel free to ask for tips inside the community to help you the most.

What are the side effects of the cleanse?

You may experience short-term symptoms like: headaches, bloating, muscle cramps, skin irritations, fatigue, irritability, mood swings, or change in bowel frequency. These symptoms are completely normal and expected.

It usually takes between 2-5 days to complete the withdrawal phase of the 21-Day Cleanse, yet it’s absolutely worth it. Giving your body a break from stimulants will allow your organs to heal and your body to recharge fully. Remember, these symptoms are proof that the cleanse is working and your body is getting the care it needs.

How long does the food prep take?

You’ll definitely spend more time in the kitchen throughout the cleanse. In some ways, this is like a crash course plant-based cooking school. I highly suggest following our prep guide to make most of the smoothies, snacks and meals over the weekend. Breakfast is a smoothie (10 minutes), lunch is a reheated soup or quick salad (15 minutes) and dinners will range from 15 minutes – 1 hour to prepare. The good news is, the dinners repeat so you make once and reheat for another evening to give you a break in the kitchen.

I have a crazy busy schedule, is this realistic for me?

We know all about busy schedules here, which is why we’ve provided a weekend prep guide that saves you tons of time during the week. If you’re working and have a full schedule, expect to spend 3-4 hours shopping and prepping on the weekends to make each cleanse week stress-free and enjoyable. The cleanse gives you a wonderful opportunity to really listen to your body. It’s an individual experience that differs for everyone. Depending on the level of toxicity in your body, there may be some less- than-amazing symptoms in the first 3–5 days, such as headaches, nausea, fatigue, skin irritations, etc. Once you hit day five, these should only be distant memories, and you’ll be well on your way to greatness. But some people sail through the entire cleansing period with no side effects at all. You may feel amazing throughout the entire cleanse, or your energy may wax and wane a little.

Who shouldn’t do a cleanse?

This cleanse is great for most people, yet you should avoid cleansing in the following situations: advanced cancer, under 16 years of age, if you have an eating disorder, kidney or liver disease, and if you’re underweight. If you have a blood sugar regulation issue (diabetes, hyperglycemia, hypoglycemia) or any other medical condition, you should seek your doctor’s advice before undertaking a cleanse. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, you can absolutely do the cleanse with some modifications. If this is you, let us know and we can give you specific tweaks to the program to make sure you’re benefitting your baby and body.

Can I workout during the cleanse?

You may find that you have more energy than normal—and more motivation! Why waste it? Get moving! Be mindful that you may need to take it down a notch though as your body adjust to the new way of eating. If you normally exercise fairly intensely, reduce your output until you feel strong and energized.

If you don’t normally work out, you would do well to include some regular walking, yoga, swimming or gardening during this time. Try to sneak in some incidental exercise, such as getting off the train or bus one or two stops early and walking the rest of the way. Or park further away from the entrance to the grocery store and walk.

Can my husband do this with me?

Absolutely. My husband loves our cleanses — the clear plans, the tasty recipes, and how good he feels by the end. Just double the grocery list and recipes so there’s enough for you both.

What is your refund policy?

We offer a 7-day money back guarantee. Enroll now and get 7 days to go through the Week 1 Nutrition Plan, share it with your doctor, try a recipe or three, and say hello to your fellow cleansers in the private support group. If you decide it’s not for you, send us an email within 7 days of purchase and I’ll refund you. I’m that confident that when you commit to this cleanse, you’ll see results… and keep them going. You have nothing to lose but so much to gain when you go plant-based for 21 days.

Before the pandemic I was “healthy”, exercised often and fairly happy. Over a year I gained 10 lbs, drank 6 days a week and ate whatever was convenient. 21-day cleanse allowed me to take control of my life and actually live a better life. After 21 days, I wake up before my alarm clock, I am happy and have clarity. I enjoy being outdoors without a drink in my hand. This works.. because of the support you receive and not just from anyone but from the founder or SGS, Jen herself. I can’t wait to continue this journey with her!

This cleanse was well worth the money — and more! Lower blood sugar, lower blood pressure, higher energy, more focused and all around happier! I loved the informative and encouraging coaching calls each week to help keep me on track which included emphasis on rest and exercise as well as eating. And last, but CERTAINLY NOT LEAST, the recipes were absolutely DELICIOUS and satisfying, the weekly meal plan and shopping lists were invaluable!

This is an all day, every day, eating habit that is absolutely delicious. Every recipe is an adventure to my taste buds, and every cooking experience is filled with anticipation of the goodness to come. The pictures are enticing, the directions are very clear, and the shopping and prep lists are sssooo helpful. Even the books are tough glossy pages that splashed food wipes right off of. I am having fun in the kitchen – a first for me in 50 years of cooking! And this program has thought of everything, unlike any other food program I have encountered. The help desk is really helpful, and kind! And begin vegan, I don’t have to change up the recipes to adapt to my needs for no gluten, no dairy, no sugar., and ample protein. I cook confidently that this great food is going to serve my body well.

I am feeling so much better doing the 21-day cleanse. I’m on day 12……now. The products arrived on time even though I signed up only a few days before the official start of the program. There is a considerable amount of prep but the food(s) are so delicious and very healthy. I cannot believe how quickly I feel so much better. I have much more energy, have lost a lot of bloat (and some pounds), no more fatigue, and my skin looks and feels amazing! It’s a commitment, but for only 21 days, totally worth it to learn how to feel great. Now we can use the methods learned to move forward when the cleanse is finished. I am so happy that I tried this program and highly recommend it! The recipes are delicious so it’s very motivating to stick with it.

I went back-and-forth on the decision to even purchase the cleanse program in the first place because I, honestly, didn’t think I’d have the willpower to complete the 21 days. I figured I’d most likely be wasting my money, but, in the end, I decided to give it a shot anyway. Much to my surprise, I found it super-easy to stick to! While there were a couple of recipes that were just OK to me, almost everything tasted surprisingly good and was very filling. It does require A LOT of time in the kitchen to prep and cook everything, at least compared to what I was used to. Prior to the cleanse, the extent of my cooking was making one large batch of something on Sundays that I’d have as my lunch for the whole workweek. Generally, I was ordering dinner out (or having the leftovers) every day, and I certainly wasn’t making the healthiest choices. Having to cook every day on this cleanse was totally new to me, and while it isn’t something I’m willing to keep up post-cleanse, I’m still hoping to continue making some of the meals from the cleanse. I’m looking forward to continuing to have green smoothies every morning, and there are plenty of the recipes from this cleanse I’d like to have regularly. Instead of cooking every day, I will make larger batches of some of these recipes to have over a couple of days. I would highly recommend this cleanse to others who need to kick-start healthier eating habits, especially during one of the community events. The community group was a huge help to me. The members of the community provided great tips on modifying some of the meals to better suit different tastes, and it was motivating to see other people on the same journey. I look forward to, hopefully, continuing with healthier eating habits and participating in other seasonal cleanses in the future.

This is an incredibly well-designed and well-burnished program. I am a senior, with plenty of home-cooking experience. Nevertheless, I have learned about how food can better serve me in so many ways. I have loved the food, the company of the others experiencing this with me, and the team of very knowlegable and encouraging “coaches”. This has taken me out of my comfort zone in the best possible way.

Totally worth it! I was very skeptical at first when I signed up for this cleanse- How am I going to survive without coffee for 21 days? IMPOSSIBLE!, I said. But I had to try this. OMG! First and second day were withdrawal hell, but from my third day onward, I started feeling amazing! My energy and the quality of my sleep were like never before. I had never done a vegan diet before because I thought it was boring and I didn’t see myself no eating meat (Where I was gonna get the protein from?). Man, I was so wrong! I loved most of the recipes in this cleanse (hello stir fry asparagus & stuffed Thai potatoes) and they are fun and fast to make. I’m not going to lie, it is a lot of work (specially prep days), but again- it is worth it. I truly enjoyed this experience because it introduced me to a lifestyle that I plan to continue. I highly recommend this cleanse.

I had a hard time finding everything I needed as I live in a rural area. The nearest Costco is 200+ miles away. Not all bad just needed to do a lot of adjustments. Good for me to give a different way of eating a try. I appreciate all of it. I am going to give it a try again.

Jen says that eating can be an effort of self-love. That, to me is the most important of the lessons learned. I’d gotten used to being “too busy” to really tend to my food needs. Through the cleanse I had good leadership and good company, and I experienced foods and techniques that will now in my arsenal. Thanks, team. The organization handed to us on a silver platter was another gift—tools gratefully put into my bag of tricks. But I remember Jen’s (and her team’s) gently reminding that they were passionate to share something valuable that could radically change my life. Nudge, nudge. The happy news is that my life has changed, just as hoped. All the learning about the food and timing and how to manage and where and what to get: very helpful. But the real take-away is that prioritizing this part of my life should not be peripheral and squeezed into the tiny corner it had been allowed. This program brought me to celebrate and share with all my closest that the effort to eat cleanly and thoughtfully is fun and rewarding in many multiples of the effort it is given. I wish someone had worked this little magic trick on me much sooner. 👏🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬🥬

This really is going to be a love note. I have purchased a lot of cookbooks, tried a lot of diets and programs and cleanses, and when yours came along, I thought, Really, Terra? You’re going to buy into another thing? Well, I am SO GLAD I DID! I would like to share quite simply why this cleanse has worked for me and why I’m going to make it my default way of eating going forward: 1. You spell out exactly what’s on the menu. I hate meal planning. I do great if someone just tells me what to eat. I’ll eat the same thing over and over if I just don’t have to think about it. But that’s not enough to keep me committed, because I hate buying particular ingredients for one recipe and then wasting food, and I am not good at charting it all out to make other stuff that incorporates the same things. However…. 2. You provide the shopping list. This is SO HUGE for me. It’s the true game changer. I don’t have to go through every recipe, try to figure out each thing I need and then inevitably forget a critical ingredient. 3. You simplify the process with the prep tips. If I had to choose between prep tips or the shopping list, I’d chose the shopping list, but it is SUPER helpful to be told to reserve this, freeze that, use this in week three, etc. 4. You have crafted some incredibly delicious recipes!!! The magic is often in the sauces and I have never been good at that. But now, armed with Cashew Cream and all it’s variations (like the mayo equivalent for slaw and the Waldorf Salad), homemade ketchup/BBQ sauce from the BBQ potato rounds recipe, the sauce from the asparagus stir fry, and the strawberry basil dressing, I feel like a culinary goddess! I could eat the strawberry dressing like soup, and I have drizzled (or poured : ) it on the avocado lime pops that I freeze in cups and also on the Carrot Cake Warrior Bars. And I’ve actually mixed all three of those together a time or two. The food has been incredibly good, my cravings are non-existent. In fact, I find my appetite is reduced so much, I have to force myself to eat at times. I feel so good knowing I am flooding my body with nutrients and real food each time I eat a meal, snack or smoothie. This is exactly what I needed to stay on track with making my own food and eating well. Thank you SO much! I plan to continue exploring what you have to offer after the cleanse is over. I also plan to repeat this three week plan once we’re done with the initial run, just to cement my current routine. Sincerely, Terra Jackson
