Top-Rated Healthy Smoothie Recipes
Based on community ratings and reviews on all our smoothies, these are the most blended and most loved healthy smoothie recipes. I like to call smoothies the healthiest fast food since they take just minutes to make and can literally fill me up like a meal. Which one of these gorgeous beauties are you blending today?
How to Blend a Healthy Smoothie
I like to follow what we call the 60/40 method for blending: 60% fruits & 40% leafy greens. This balance gives me the best of both worlds: a delicious, drinkable smoothie loaded with nutrients. Who wouldn’t want that perfect combo on a daily basis?
One serving of the perfect green smoothie is:
- Fruit= 1 1/2 cups
- Leafy greens, like spinach or kale= 1 cup
- Liquid, like water or another liquid base= 1 cup
Every ingredient in Simple Green Smoothie is intentional yet all result in delicious, drinkable creations that make adding to our daily routine a breeze. The fruit and leafy green combinations are endless. That’s why it’s so easy to add in this healthy habit, no matter where you live.
If you choose a non-green smoothie, that’s okay too! I use smoothies like the Chocolate Peanut Butter one above for natural energy before or after a workout. The Epic Almond smoothie makes a protein-powered breakfast option. And the Healthy Blueberry smoothie is a deliciously sweet treat without added sugar or other weird ingredients.
Ingredients in a Healthy Smoothie Recipe
If you want to boost any smoothie into a super healthy drink, here are a few tips to do so:
- If the smoothie recipe doesn’t list leafy greens as an ingredient, feel free to toss in a handful anyway!
- Sometimes I want my smoothie boosted with a specific superfood to combat illness, energize me or boost a nutrient so I turn to Top Superfoods List.
- To turn any smoothie into a meal, add one serving of my homemade protein powder. This helps you feel full longer and uses the protein and healthy fat in that protein powder to give you longer-lasting energy without a sugar crash.

Healthy Smoothie Recipes FAQs
If you use only whole food, plant-based ingredients in your smoothies then you’re off to a good start. I like to add leafy greens to any smoothie I make to boost the nutrients and fiber. You can also toss in superfoods like hemp hearts or chia seeds for both healthy fat and protein.
They can be! Losing weight is so much more than just eating the ‘right’ things, yet I find when I focus on filling my meals with plants and drinking at least one green smoothie a day, I am able to better manage my weight as well as have energy for exercise and adventure.
I avoid adding dairy to smoothies as I find they do not help with my digestion and dairy easily inflames my joints. I choose water or unsweetened plant milk liquid bases over fruit juice to cut down on the natural sugar that can lead to a sugar spike and then crash.
Looks yummy!
I drink a green smoothie every morning and am excited to try #3 anti inflammatory drink. I’ve been looking for a good healthy recipe that includes beets. Thank you.
Although I’ve been drinking green smoothies with you guys for years, I have yet to try a smoothie bowl and the extra iron sounds like a great recipe to try!
I would most like to try the tropical turmeric cleansing smoothie. I drink the turmeric tonic from the summer cleanse most mornings but have never tried turmeric in a smoothie before. Love having different smoothies everyday! Thank you!
I can’t wait to try the fat-burning smoothie (for obvious reasons) and the anti-inflammatory smoothie for my husband who has issues with inflammation. Hopefully these will help kick-start our way to a healthier holiday season and foundation for a healthy New Year!!
I will definitely be trying #5 Tropical Turmeric Cleanser! Turmeric has been a focus for health because of arthritis pain in my lower back. This smoothie is filled with lots of goodness for inflammation. Kale, pineapple, and the star…turmeric, activated by black pepper! Just the right amount of sweetness, and vitamin C too! Love trying new smoothies! Thanks Rawkstars!
I’m most excited about the inflammation buster because I’ve got eczema and I’d rather treat from the inside out!
I can’t wait to try the banana chocolate smoothie. I always order a banocolate milkshake whenever I get a milkshake so this would be a much healthier treat!
I love love LOVE the BL green smoothie. I have to admit, though, that chocolate peanut butter one looks amazingly decadent and I can’t wait to make it!
I’m really excited to try the Iron-Rich smoothie bowl! Not only does it look delicious, but I could use the iron.
Can’t wait to try #6 The Iron Rich Smoothie!
My husband and I did the Summer Reset and fell in love with plant based smoothies!
I’m the beginner and I need the luck!! Which the BL smoothie sounds like the perfect one for me and the hubby. (Shhhhhhh!! Don’t tell him what’s in it)
It’s our little secret! =P
Banana chocolate smoothie because it looks delicious
It really is!!!
The Chocolate Banana Protein Shake looks amazing! I LOVE peanut butter and chocolate so this is definitely a must try. I am new to Simple Green and saw this shake on Instagram the other day and knew I had to try it!
I am ready to honestly try all of them but if I have to choose I will try the Banana Chocolate Smoothie first!!!
Yum that is definitely a favorite!!!
All of these smoothies look AMAZING (and the beginner’s luck is one of my faves!) but I’m most excited to try the strawberry banana. It was my favorite flavor combo when I was growing up, but I’m sure that now this version will be my go-to healthy treat. YUM!
Strawberry banana is one of the favorites!!! I know you will love it!! 🙂
