Top-Rated Healthy Smoothie Recipes
Based on community ratings and reviews on all our smoothies, these are the most blended and most loved healthy smoothie recipes. I like to call smoothies the healthiest fast food since they take just minutes to make and can literally fill me up like a meal. Which one of these gorgeous beauties are you blending today?
How to Blend a Healthy Smoothie
I like to follow what we call the 60/40 method for blending: 60% fruits & 40% leafy greens. This balance gives me the best of both worlds: a delicious, drinkable smoothie loaded with nutrients. Who wouldn’t want that perfect combo on a daily basis?
One serving of the perfect green smoothie is:
- Fruit= 1 1/2 cups
- Leafy greens, like spinach or kale= 1 cup
- Liquid, like water or another liquid base= 1 cup
Every ingredient in Simple Green Smoothie is intentional yet all result in delicious, drinkable creations that make adding to our daily routine a breeze. The fruit and leafy green combinations are endless. That’s why it’s so easy to add in this healthy habit, no matter where you live.
If you choose a non-green smoothie, that’s okay too! I use smoothies like the Chocolate Peanut Butter one above for natural energy before or after a workout. The Epic Almond smoothie makes a protein-powered breakfast option. And the Healthy Blueberry smoothie is a deliciously sweet treat without added sugar or other weird ingredients.
Ingredients in a Healthy Smoothie Recipe
If you want to boost any smoothie into a super healthy drink, here are a few tips to do so:
- If the smoothie recipe doesn’t list leafy greens as an ingredient, feel free to toss in a handful anyway!
- Sometimes I want my smoothie boosted with a specific superfood to combat illness, energize me or boost a nutrient so I turn to Top Superfoods List.
- To turn any smoothie into a meal, add one serving of my homemade protein powder. This helps you feel full longer and uses the protein and healthy fat in that protein powder to give you longer-lasting energy without a sugar crash.

Healthy Smoothie Recipes FAQs
If you use only whole food, plant-based ingredients in your smoothies then you’re off to a good start. I like to add leafy greens to any smoothie I make to boost the nutrients and fiber. You can also toss in superfoods like hemp hearts or chia seeds for both healthy fat and protein.
They can be! Losing weight is so much more than just eating the ‘right’ things, yet I find when I focus on filling my meals with plants and drinking at least one green smoothie a day, I am able to better manage my weight as well as have energy for exercise and adventure.
I avoid adding dairy to smoothies as I find they do not help with my digestion and dairy easily inflames my joints. I choose water or unsweetened plant milk liquid bases over fruit juice to cut down on the natural sugar that can lead to a sugar spike and then crash.
Yum. I love all of these, but my favorite is still Beginner’s Luck! So rich and creamy. If I’m craving sweet and chocolate, definitely Banana and Chocolate. Tastes like a creamy milkshake. Yum. And, if I’ve overindulged, then I’m swinging for the “cleanser” type smoothies with citrus and ginger and general clean-me-out ingredients.
These recipes are amazing. I’m a mom of three one which is a toddler with a feeding tube. I’m always trying to find ways to incorporate healthy food blends that we all can enjoy but get the nutrition she needs daily. These smoothies have made all the difference.
Definitely trying the fat burning, mostly because grapefruit and pineapple together sound amazing. With all the green smoothies I drink, I have somehow missed that one
#3 Anti inflammatory smoothie, because I need help with the inflamation I have been experiencing
I’m most excited to try #3, the anti-inflammatory smoothie – not just for the flavor, but also for the potential health benefits. I was diagnosed with a muscle-inflammatory disease some years ago. I’ve only now begun to transition to a plant-based diet that will include smoothies. I’m hopeful that these anti-inflammatory foods will alleviate my auto-immune symptoms and I’ll be healthy, feel better, and have more energy.
Thank you so much, Monica!
I’ve made several of these (yum!), but have not made the banana chocolate smoothie, so that’ll be next on my list! I’m excited to make it because I think my kids are going to love it, and any opportunity to get more fruits and veggies in their growing bodies should absolutely be taken
Thank you for all you do, love love love cooking from your books!
Thank you so much, Amy!
I love all the smoothies. I cant make up my mind which one, knowing myself I would try all but the one that is critical at this stage is the Fat Burning Smoothie to get the Summer body ready 🙂
Oooh, these look great! I’ve tried several of them already. Beginners Luck, Fat Burning, Tropical Turmeric and Strawberry Banana…But I’m definitely interested in that peanut butter banana as a decadent treat. I’ll be trying that one soon!
Never tried one with turmeric before, so think will give ;o. 5 ago. They all sound yummy thought. Love my smoothies
The Tropical Turmeric Cleanse Smoothie sounds YUMMY! I love every ingredient in it, even that black pepper to go with the turmeric powder. From my skin issues and feet/legs symptoms, I may have liver issue, like fatty liver. So this smoothie should be so delicious that I can make it a staple smoothie for my liver health. I truly appreciate you sharing all these yummy vegan green smoothies, and encouraging us who are struggling with making the move, the change, and make the transformation of our health.
Thank you so much, Linda!
I’m VERY excited to try the anti-inflammatory smoothie. It looks so great…. I got in a car accident 2+ months ago and still feeling pain and inflammation so I need all the help I can get in that dept.!
Oh I’ve been away on vacation this week with no smoothies and that chocolate banana is going to have to be in my welcome home agenda.
They all sound delicious and simple! I’m most excited to try the Tropical Turmeric Cleanse as the weather warms up here in Australia. Thank you for sharing these recipes and ideas.
I would love to try the anti inflammatory smoothie because I’ve never had such an interesting smoothie with beets, blueberries and coconut oil and I think it really help my health as well as taste delicious or the iron smoothie bowl as I have low iron both sound delicious, thank you. I would love to win the glass jars to keep my smoothies fresh as I make my smoothies the night before and have in the morning on the go to work for my breakfast meal replacement thank you
My favorite smoothie would be #5 Tropical Turmeric Cleansing Smoothie because I have eczema and anything that can help with decreasing inflammation in my body would be helpful with flare ups!
I so need this. Somehow sitting at a desk all and working at a computer for 8 hours have allowed the weight and bad snack habits to creep in.
My entire being is in need of a overhaul, better food choices and delicious and healthy smoothies. All the way in!!!! Can’t wait to try every recipe with the chocolate one leading the pack.
