Rawkstar Coffee (aka Bulletproof Coffee) | SimpleGreenSmoothies.comI am a HUUUUUGEEEEE coffee lover… like I spent over $1000 on an Italian espresso machine. I am sharing this crazy fact so you can understand what I mean when I say I. love. good. coffee. And this recipe takes coffee to a whole new level. 

Yet I haven’t always had a healthy relationship with coffee. For years, I was literally addicted to it. Like I would (and prob still could) drink cup after cup after cup after cup…. if I’m not careful. That much caffeine made me a grouchy, exhausted person— which completely defeated the purpose of me drinking it in the first place. Yet that’s what happens when we take things to that level of addiction. It goes downhill fast. So I made a change.

I was able to break my caffeine addiction with Fresh Start: A 21-day cleanse. It took 5 days of serious withdrawals (the shakes, the migraines, the hallucinations, the anger, the exhaustion)… but I did it! And after 21 days without it, I realized that I actually didn’t need it in my life. Now, I choose to have it on occasion and I enjoy every sip.

I found a way to make coffee a healthy habit for myself, rather than a serious addiction. For me, it’s a mix of moderation and using high quality ingredients.  Now, when I enjoy my cup of coffee, it actually gives me stable energy, mental clarity, helps flush out my system and keeps my skin glowing. I reap the benefits from it!

The recipe I use it quite radical for a cup of joe sorta person. It requires a blender and a few niche products that you can get through Amazon and your local grocery store.  As intimidating as that may be, it truly is worth trying it out.

The blender emulsifies the butter and coconut oil, creating a creamy and frothy drink with a boost of beneficial fats. It’s inspired by Dave Asprey’s Bulletproof Coffee, which is how I originally got introduced to healthy fats combined with coffee.

Lately, I have been upgrading it EVEN more will grass-fed collagen powder. I think once you hit 34 years old and the grey hairs start popping up, it’s time to take aging seriously. So I’ve been investing in my longevity with high-quality collagen and loads of healthy fats— which is exactly what this recipe is all about.

If you’d like to make this decaf, I recommend using Dandy Blend, which is the best coffee alternative out there, in my opinion, of course. I am in LOVE this stuff! It’s caffeine free, gluten free and delicious. I seriously don’t even realize I’m not drinking coffee, it’s so similar.

You’ll love this high-octane beverage to give you a steady boost of energy (without the jitters or crash of typical cup of coffee). 



  • 1 cup brewed coffee (or Dandy Blend, a caffeine-free alternative)
  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil (or MCT oil)
  • 2 tablespoons grass-fed butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 scoop collagen (optional)


  1. Carefully blend all ingredients until combined. 
  2. Drink warm and enjoy the healthy fat goodness!

    I made this and I’m not a coffee drinker. I love It! I was looking for an energy boost but the idea of collagen and MCT oil benefits made me like it even more! How many cups of this recommended per day?

    This drink is delicious and I’m not even a big coffee drinker. I’m anti dairy and caffeine. But this works for me with the Dandy Blend. How many cups are recommended per day? It tastes so good, it’s easy to want more.

    So glad you like it Phebe! I recommend having it 1-2 times a day max. I like to have it in the morning and then a green smoothie for lunch. If you’re using the Dandy Blend, which is caffeine free and great for detoxifying your liver, I would say you could have it more often. It’s important to get in those healthy fats and this is a great way to do that.

    Hi Jessica,

    We try our best not to focus on the numbers. We’ve found that when you consume more nourishing whole fruits and veggies, you will not only feel full longer, but you’ll also have lessened cravings for high-calorie, nutritionally empty foods. So in the end it balances out. But we know many people would like to have this information. Three great resources for tracking calories are Self Nutrition Data, and the phone apps: My Fitness Pal and Lose It.
