This Watermelon Acai Smoothie Recipe helps hydrate the body and boost the immune system.

We met rawkstars, Matt and Amanda, when they entered our Blendtec + Thrive Market giveaway and told us why they blend. It turns out Matt was diagnosed with brain cancer not too long ago. To help Matt along during his treatment, his wife Amanda started researching ways to help his body fight. She found numerous ingredients to help boost his immune system and she does this by making him delicious smoothies.

Watermelon Acai Smoothie Recipe – boosts the immune system to help fight cancer

We asked Matt and Amanda to share a few of their favorite smoothies with us. This Watermelon Acai smoothie is one of Amanda’s very favorites.

As a base she uses watermelon, which has the highest cancer fighting properties of any fruit out there. It also has amazing hydrating properties and tastes great. To the watermelon she adds the antioxidant powerhouse, acai powder, as well as pomegranate powder which studies on prostate cancer have shown may slow the most aggressive forms by 67%.

Cancer Fighting Acai Smoothie Recipe

If you’ve never heard of camu powder, you’re not alone. It a lesser-known superfood that comes from the camu berry. One half teaspoon of the pretty pink powder packs a whopping 600% of the recommended daily value of vitamin C. It works great in the acai smoothie recipe because it pairs well with watermelon.

Chia seeds are in there for protein and sustainable energy, as well as slowing the absorption of sugars, and antioxidant properties.

Citrus peel contains flavonoids which have been shown to penetrate brain cancer cells, facilitate their death by apoptosis, and lower their potential for invaded neighboring tissues. Citrus juice aids the liver in detoxification of carcinogens.

Description

This is Amanda’s favorite smoothie recipe that she makes quite often. She says, “I prefer seeded [watermelon], but I know that’s more work. Watermelon has the highest cancer fighting properties gram for gram of any fruit out there, not to mention it is hydrating and tastes amazing. FAVORITE. FRUIT. EVER.”


Scale

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups watermelon (seeded and cubed)
  • 1 tablespoons acai powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons chia seeds
  • 1/2 tablespoon pomegranate juice
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp camu powder
  • 1 cup ice

Instructions

  1. Blend the watermelon and other ingredients, except the ice, until smooth.
  2. Add the ice and blend again.

Notes

*Can use 1/4 cup Pomegranate juice (not from concentrate) in place of pomegranate powder.
