Also known affectionately as โ€œPink Flamango,โ€ this strawberry mango smoothie is a healthier take on the classic combo thanks to a handful of spinach and no yogurt (which you’ll find in a lot of other recipes out there). It was originally created by my very first Simple Green Smoothies team member, Dan Mottayaw, about 8 years ago. Now, he’s got a toddler who gulps this smoothie down! It warms my heart to see kids growing up on leafy greens + fruit, like this delicious strawberry mango smoothie recipe.

Why This Recipe Rawks

  • Strawberries are amazing: Did you know that strawberries actually have more vitamin C than oranges? Itโ€™s true! These sweet berries shine in this mango fruit smoothie recipe, both in flavor and in nutrients. They can be used in any berry recipe as a substitute.
  • Health Benefits of Strawberries: Strawberries are also low in sugar + high in fiber, which makes them a great smoothie addition for anyone who is watching their blood sugar levels. The fiber helps avoid a blood sugar rush, as well as keep your levels more stable. They are naturally sweet, so they are a great sweet treat in a smoothie, or straight off the stem.
  • Mango is the best tropical fruit: Okay, I know that statement is very subjective, but I really, really LOVE mango. I could eat them all day long and never tire of them โ€“ blended in this strawberry mango smoothie as well as freshly peeled.
  • Health benefits of mangos: A mango is like the tropical version of a peach. Itโ€™s juicy + sweet and chock full of vitamin A and fiber. Make sure and stand over the sink while eating a fresh one, because youโ€™ll have juice dripping down your chin. No shame here! Add some mango to your smoothie to instantly get an island vibe going.

Ingredients Youโ€™ll Need

Here are my easy strawberry mango smoothie ingredients:

  • Fresh spinach: Mild and nutrient-packed; look for bright green leaves at your local grocery store or farmersโ€™ market.
  • Unsweetened almond milk: Light and creamy with a subtle nutty flavor; opt for organic or homemade for the best strawberry mango smoothie with milk. Check out my guide on the best almond milk brands to buy.
  • Frozen strawberries: Sweet and slightly tart; buy pre-frozen for convenience or freeze fresh berries for peak flavor.
  • Frozen mango: This fruit is naturally sweet and tropical. I usually buy frozen mango in bulk from Trader Joes or Costco because itโ€™s cheaper than my local grocery store.

How to Make a Strawberry Mango Smoothie

This strawberry mango smoothie is bursting with flavor and nutrientsโ€”and itโ€™s so easy to make! Just follow these three simple steps:

  1. Blend fresh spinach with unsweetened almond milk until completely smooth. This ensures a silky texture without leafy bits.
  2. Add the frozen strawberries and mango, then blend again until creamy and well combined.
  3. Enjoy immediately for a refreshing and nutrient-packed smoothie!

Easy Swaps and Add-Ins

This recipe is fantastic as is, but here are some easy ways to mix it up and make it your own!

  • Add protein powder: Give your strawberry mango smoothie a boost of protein with my homemade protein powder recipe made with flax, hemp, and chia seeds.
  • Swap spinach: Use your favorite leafy greens instead of spinach. Some of my favorite options to use are kale or chard.
  • Swap almond milk: Substitute almond milk with a dairy-free milk of your choosing.

Common Questions

Do strawberry and mango go together in a smoothie?

While bananas and pineapple are among the tropical fruits that pair well with mango and strawberry, the combination of mango and strawberry is truly superior. Mangoโ€™s natural sweetness and creamy texture create a thick, luscious smoothie, while strawberries add a refreshing, slightly tart contrast. Together, they make a perfectly balanced, flavorful blendโ€”pure smoothie bliss!

What fruit blends well with mango?

Mango pairs well with many fruits, creating a balanced and flavorful blend. Strawberries add a refreshing tartness, while pineapple enhances its tropical sweetness. Bananas provide creaminess, peaches add a juicy mellow flavor, and oranges bring a citrusy kick. Coconut is another great pairing, complementing mangoโ€™s tropical notes. Whether you want sweet, creamy, or refreshing, mango is a versatile fruit that blends beautifully.

How many calories in a strawberry mango smoothie?

A strawberry mango smoothie made with 1 cup fresh spinach, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 cup frozen strawberries, and ยฝ cup frozen mango contains approximately 137 calories per serving. This smoothie is naturally low in fat, with 4g of protein, 26g of carbohydrates, and 6g of fiber, making it a nutrient-dense and refreshing option. Adding a serving of homemade protein powder will slightly increase the calorie count while boosting protein content.

This wasn’t my favorite but it was good. I think the main problem I had with it was that it was too cold, too frozen, and the weather outside was really cold. I was freezing after I ate it!

  4. This was one I was looking forward to all week. I liked the ingredients, and it’s one I thought my kids would really like. I got 2 out of 3, so that’s not too bad, and I’ll continue working on the other, whose pretty picky, and not as adventurous as the other two. Time and patience is the key!

  5. Miam, love this one! The strawberries give a sweet but well balanced taste and the creaminess is exceptional as always!

  6. Another excellent, delicious smoothie! This is so good, with the nut milk and berries, that it is very similar to my everyday smoothies – perhaps even better! Iโ€™ll bet you could serve this to any picky eater and they wouldnโ€™t guess there was a cup of spinach in there – two thumbs up! I will be adding greens to all my smoothies from now on
