Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Published on 1.2.2021 by Jen Hansard

RECIPE CARD LEAVE REVIEW
Strawberry Mango Smoothie in a cute crate

Also known affectionately as "Pink Flamango," this strawberry mango smoothie was created by my very first SGS rawkstar team member, Dan Mottayaw. That was 8 years ago, and now he's got a toddler who gulps this smoothie down! It warms my heart to see kids growing up on leafy greens + fruit, like this delicious strawberry mango smoothie recipe.

Strawberry Mango Smoothie

Strawberries, a powerhouse smoothie ingredient

Did you know that strawberries actually have more vitamin C than oranges? It's true! These sweet berries shine in this strawberry mango smoothie recipe, both in flavor and in nutrients.

Strawberries are also low in sugar + high in fiber, which makes them a great smoothie addition for anyone who is watching their blood sugar levels. The fiber helps avoid a blood sugar rush, as well as keep your levels more stable. They are naturally sweet, so they are a great sweet treat in a smoothie, or straight off the stem.

Strawberry smoothies to try

If you love strawberries, then you need to check out these incredible smoothie recipes:

Strawberries can also be used in any berry recipe as a substitute.

Mango: the best tropical fruit

Okay, I know that statement is very subjective, but I really, really LOVE mangoes. I could eat them all day long and never tire of them - blended in this strawberry mango smoothie as well as freshly peeled.

Mango is like the tropical version of a peach. It's juicy + sweet and chock full of vitamin A and fiber. Make sure and stand over the sink while eating a fresh one, because you'll have juice dripping down your chin. No shame here! Add some mango to your smoothie to instantly get an island vibe going. I usually buy frozen mango in bulk from Trader Joes or Costco when using it in this strawberry mango smoothie, because it's cheaper than my local grocery store.

Mango can easily go from the main event in a smoothie, to a mild sweetener or creamy addition. I use it in a wide array of smoothies, and haven't yet found a combo I don't love! Try these smoothie recipes out for yourself:

Strawberry mango protein boost

Looking for a taste-free way to add extra protein to this, or any, smoothie recipe? I searched for a good protein powder for YEARS, and then tried to create my own version for years. I got simple + smart and realized I constantly preach about the amazing power of plants, so why not use them in a smoothie boost!? Strawberry and mango is one of my favorite fruit combos. I liked this smoothie a lot, but I missed the mango flavor; I couldn’t taste it at all. I also used unsweetened oat milk instead of almond milk, because that’s what I had. It made the smoothie extra creamy, which I really enjoyed. I’ll make again and up the amount of mango to hopefully get that delicious flavor.

Oat milk is def one of my fav swaps to up that creamy factor in any smoothie. Great choice, Hope! Next time, opt for fresh mango instead of frozen if you're able. That should bring out the mango flavors in a stronger way for ya. Happy blending!

Not the fan. I used organic strawberries, banana, and cauliflower.
I enjoy all 3 individually. But not in a smoothie. I even tried to add blueberries with the second half just didn’t enjoy

I agree with some of the "not quite sweet enough" comments. I made a doubled batch and after tasting, I boosted the flavor by adding 1 cashew/coconut frozen cube, 2 dates, and then just a little honey. It was delicious - will keep it as a regular!!
    Thanks!

Hmmm? Well, it was good but for me not great ... didn't have a sweetness to it like yesterdays BEGINNERS LUCK. I used Frozen Organic Strawberries (from Albertsons) & Frozen Mangos (from WalMart). I'm wondering if the Strawberries just don't have flavor 0r maybe pineapples from yesterdays smoothie are just sweeter in general? I am a NEWBIE with VitaMix & Smoothies so trying to figure it all out. I've had my VitaMix a couple of months now & have been experimenting but have found I definitely need guidance. I have read that with VitaMix I should be able to put all ingredients, at least with todays STRAWBERRY MANGO BOOST recipe, in at one time & then Mix. My VitaMix stops (motor runs but blades are not turning products. Other times I hear a pulsing motor sound? Is all this normal?

Hi Dawn - Such great questions! Fruit can lose flavor if it's been in the freezer for a super long time. Next time you could try adding additional strawberry or swap out the frozen for fresh. And you are right - Vitamix is a powerhouse that can handle anything you throw at it! The pulsing sound can be normal, yet if the blades are spinning and not moving your ingredients that's a signal you need to add more liquid. Despite the awesomeness of Vitamix, we still recommend blending your liquid and greens first, then adding your other ingredients to finish blending.

I subbed blueberries for strawberries because I needed to use them up. The first sip was a bit off-putting (I think the frozen mango I got wasn't ripe when it was frozen) but it got better as I drank it.

This was my first smoothie with almond milk! It was a nice change - I ended up using unsweetened almond with coconut milk. The lower stars simply reflect the more brownish colour and enjoyed it a little less than all the other excellent recipes!

Found the strawberry flavor really lacking... probably from using frozen. Will try again with fresh strawberries sometime?

Fresh strawberries would be a great idea, Lesley! Over a super long time in the freezer, fruit can lose flavor. So fresh would help get that stronger strawberry flavor you're looking for.

The strawberries and mango are so fresh and summery tasting that this smoothie always makes me think of the beach. If haven't made one before the flavors are strong enough you don't have to worry you won't like the spinach because you won't even taste it. The almond milk one are more filling for me so total meal replacement esp if you throw in some sgs protein powder (which you can't taste either!)

This could be better tweaked. Sure it's good, but I'm looking for great! Mine mostly tasted of mango. My husband bought almond milk with sugar unknowingly and I tried the spinach and almond milk before I added the fruit. That was actually amazing and I will drink that daily. It had just the right amount of sugar and the almond with spinach was delish! Happy accident? Yes!

This smoothie again easy to put together. I used frozen strawberries and frozen mango, which didn’t add the sweetness to this smoothie as one would like. Being a smoothie drinker I’d still drink it, but not a favorite.

That being said with fresh ripe strawberries and mangos I think this would be way better.
