Tips for Best Results

My teeth are pretty sensitive so I drink the apple cider vinegar drinks with lemon through a straw to protect my enamel. The apple cider vinegar drinks sometimes go down better if they are super cold or heated up like a spiced cider. Though drinking them at room temperature is fine, you may not want to. That’s totally okay.

Turmeric stains easily, so make sure you have a stainable surface or cup when consuming any drink with this anti-inflammatory ingredient. Fresh, whole roots will have loads more natural and healing properties than their ground versions, so always look for fresh if possible. I actually buy ginger at Costco and chop up a whole bunch at once, then freeze it in single portions. This way I’ve got fresh, real ginger on hand whenever I need it.

Detox Drink Ingredients

While I don’t recommend drinking only these beverages throughout the day, they are each designed to help promote weight loss when included in a balanced diet. Each drink contains ingredients that do some pretty cool stuff in the body:

great detox ingredients including fresh ginger, lemon and cinnamon sticks.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Contains acetic acid, which helps stall weight gain and decreases fat in the belly and liver.
  • Ginger: Studies show this root effectively reduces fat, as well as increases HDL (good cholesterol) in the body.
  • Plant-based protein: According to the American Dietetic Association, a well-balanced vegetarian/vegan diet provide more than adequate protein to prevent and treat certain diseases. I’ve actually created an organic, plant-based protein boost for green smoothies. It adds 10 grams of clean protein to each smoothie.
  • Lemon: Loaded with antioxidants to promote weight loss. You can also add it to water to create a simple weight loss drink.
  • Cinnamon: Also full of antioxidants. Cinnamon has powerful anti-inflammatory effects as well.
  • Turmeric: Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric, and has anti-inflammatory and antioxidants as well. If inflammation is a serious concern, then I suggest taking this in supplement form. Ground turmeric has a smaller amount of curcumin.

This is one of my favorite recipes on this site. It is delicious and very satisfying, especially with the nut butter added.

Oh my goodness!! The spiced almond milk gives me peanut butter cookie vibes. So delicious and definitely a perfect night time sip to keep those cravings in check. Where has this been all my life?

    1. This sounds delicious. How much ground ginger and cayenne pepper should be used?

      1. Hi Daphne, great question! To be honest, the answer can vary depending on the recipe, but if you’re adding ginger and cayenne into a drink or smoothie, I’d say a dash of cayenne (about 1/8 tsp) and a tsp of grater ginger. However if you’re blending a smoothie, you can chop off a piece of peeled ginger and throw it right into the blender without grating it. 1/3 – 1/2 inch of ginger should be pretty close to a teaspoon of grated ginger.

This drink is such a favorite of mine I drink it every night. So warm, soothing, and I find I actually sleep better after having it:)

It’s taken me a week, but I find I really do look forward to ending my day (or dinner) with this nice warm mug of goodness. Before this, I would always want something sweet like a piece of chocolate or a scoop of ice cream (why not fruit?? that’s sweet!! >.< ) The cinnamon and ginger trick me into thinking there's sugar added, even without using the maple syrup. I've only made it with Kirkland almond milk, but I hear it's even better with a higher rated almond milk. Someday. For now, Kirkland and these spices hit the spot!

I love the sliced almond milk recipe. It’s my new favorite evening ritual. The blend of spices in the creamy almond milk are very relaxing.

While this is a super basic “recipe” for hot non-dairy milk, it is amazing! I don’t use the listed add-ons, so mine is just hot almond milk with spices. I run the milk through a frother and sprinkle the spices on top. I also add cardamon and sometimes nutmeg. Give it a quick stir to mix the spices and sip.

This has really curbed my late night sweet tooth which was unexpected but awesome! I can drink this and feel content to just go to bed instead of having a dessert.
